Spike stitch into multiple insertion points

We already showed you how to crochet a cluster stitch into multiple insertion points. Now we’ll explain how to crochet a spike stitch into multiple insertion points. This stitch is worked from right to left.

Important: You do not insert your hook into the loops of the previous round/row. Instead, insert it into the loops of the rounds/rows below that are specified in the pattern.

To begin, yarn over once for the 1st insertion point. Now insert your hook 2 rounds below and 2 stitches to the right of the current stitch, pull the yarn through, and draw it up.

It’s important that the strands don’t cross and that you pull the loop up far enough so it lies loosely over the stitches of the other rounds/rows.

You should now have 3 loops on your hook.

For the 2nd insertion point, insert your hook straight down 3 rounds below the current stitch, pull the yarn through, and draw it up loosely.

You now have 4 loops on your hook.

Now, for the 3rd insertion point, insert your hook 2 rounds below and 2 stitches to the left of the current stitch (the same distance from the 2nd insertion point as the 1st insertion point), pull the yarn through, and draw it up loosely.

You now have 5 loops on your hook.

Now all you need to do is yarn over one more time with the working yarn and pull through all loops. Done.
