Round Join with a Color Change
This guide shows you how to crochet a slip stitch join with a color change. You can already see the technique in the images below.
Note: For single-color crochet projects, the slip stitch join works in the same way, except that you do not change the color or yarn.

For a slip stitch join with a color change, first insert the hook into the first stitch of the round. Depending on the stitch type, this may be a single crochet, half double crochet, double crochet, or another stitch.
Then make 1 slip stitch with the old color.

After that, pick up the new yarn and:
- make 1 chain stitch for single crochet and half double crochet
- make 2 chain stitches for double crochet, treble crochet, post stitches, and puff stitches
- make 3 chain stitches for double treble crochet

Now start the first stitch of the new round in the same stitch as the slip stitch and chain stitch or chain stitches. The image here shows 1 half double crochet.
