Finishing Stitches with a Second Color

How do you finish stitches with a second color? You’ll find the answer in this tutorial.

As an example of finishing stitches with 2 colors, we’ll use half double crochet (UK: half treble crochet):

Before inserting your hook into the next stitch, yarn over with the old color, so you already have 2 loops on your hook.

Then insert your hook into the stitch, yarn over with the old color, and pull up a loop.

You should now have 3 loops on your crochet hook.

Now pick up the yarn in the new color and pull it through all 3 loops to complete the stitch.

That’s it! The body of the stitch is now in the old color, and the loops on top are in the new color.
