Little Helpers Tuesday: How’s it going? Are you working hard?

Hello Josefa,

I'm working on a poncho for myself and have already crocheted a few stitches
today.
When I've finished the first part, I'll start on the vest for my daughter.

Best, Heike

Püppinella (Sophia) Pattern

Hello,

so I do get 26 sts.

The pattern: 5 sc, (inc, 1 sc) 3 times, 4 sc, (inc, 1 sc) 2 times, inc.

5 sc
1 sc doubled, 1 sc x 3 = 9 sc
4 sc
1 sc doubled, 1 sc x 2 = 6 sc
1 sc doubled = 2 sc

5+9+4+6+2 = 26

I hope I could help you.

Best regards, Heike

How are you all doing today? Weekly plans, weather update, craft goals, (vegan) lunch.

Yes. We’re still making three more of those.

But your suggestion is worth considering.

How are you all doing today? Weekly plans, weather update, craft goals, (vegan) lunch.

Hello,

I’m feeling kind of strange somehow. I think I’m coming down with a cold.

Saturday was great. Wonderful weather, pleasantly warm, and a
barbecue evening with some really lovely friends.
Yesterday I lay on the couch all day because I
wasn’t feeling so well already.

The sun is shining here and it’s pleasantly warm.

I had fruit for lunch. Tonight we’re having pumpkin soup.

I finished my Baby Emmi on Saturday and now I’m
a world champion at knotting in hair ;-) I made the doll with arm and
leg joints. I was dripping with sweat afterwards, but it
was worth it.
I’ll post photos tonight or tomorrow.

In the evening I started on my poncho. But I’m also
going to start a vest for my little daughter this week as well.
She keeps asking when I’m going to start her vest.

So my goal for this week is to keep working on the poncho and
start the vest.

I still have to make 3 more Baby Emmis by Christmas. Not to
mention the other Christmas gifts that I still want to
crochet.

Best, Heike

Have you bought any yarn today? / How are your yarn supplies looking?

Hi,

my yarn stash is dwindling, one skein at a time.

I hope I won’t need any new yarn anytime soon, since I need to—and want to—work through my stash first.
That’s why I haven’t bought any yarn.

Happy with September? Plans for October

Hi,

September had its ups and downs.
But overall, it was okay.
We were still able to celebrate our oldest daughter’s birthday by the pool.
She went to Bad Blankenburg for the national soccer finals.

October got off to a good start.
We were in Wetzlar until yesterday and took a few days off.
Today I had to go back to work because half of my vacation time was canceled.

At the end of the month, our oldest daughter’s awards ceremony at school
is coming up.

Right now we’re on fall break.

As for crocheting, I’d like to finish Baby Emmi, a vest for the little one, and
a poncho for myself. Then the Christmas season will begin.

Best regards, Heike

Final Sprint and Awards Ceremony for the September Projects

Can I still join?

We were on vacation for a few days and I couldn’t check in beforehand.

I’ve actually managed not to buy any yarn so far.

That’s why I’m still in the running for the “Conqueror of My Inner Slacker” title.

Maybe you can still count me in, dear Josefa.

Thanks.

Best regards, Heike

How are you doing? Weekly schedule, craft goals, weather update, (vegan) lunch

The weekend was a mixed bag—in every sense.

On Saturday, we had a “season-ending barbecue” with friends; it was
actually quite nice, aside from a few hiccups.

Yesterday, we took our oldest daughter to the train station. She’s away with her
school in Bad Blankenburg (Thuringia) until Wednesday.
There, she’s playing in the federal football final of “Jugend trainiert für Olympia.”
The goodbye was very tearful. It’s her first time away from home.

After arriving 4.5 hours late, she checked in
at 10 p.m. I was pretty jittery.

My crafting goal for the week is to start
working on Baby Emmi today and get as far as I can.

I also need to do some ironing.

On Friday, we’re heading to Wetzlar for a few days.

Love, Heike

Where do you do your crafts in the fall and winter?

Right now, in this weather, I’m still sitting on the balcony.

When it gets rainy and cooler, I’ll crochet on the couch in the study
—or even in bed sometimes, if it’s already
late in the evening.

But we spend most of our time in the study, where everything happens for
us: painting, crafting, watching TV, working on the computer,
crocheting, lounging around, playing, and so on.

Best wishes, Heike

Stitch poll: Starting or finishing projects? Which is more exciting?

For me, it's basically that I'm constantly itching to
start a new project, even though the one I've started isn't finished
yet.
Then I always try to be very disciplined and finish the project.

Right now I'm working on my soul warmer. There are still about 6
rows of the border missing. Now I'm already itching to start the
baby doll for my cousin's little girl for her 3rd birthday.

So far I've been brave and managed to keep working on my soul warmer
.

Best wishes, Heike

Which trends would you like to see (or not see) make a comeback? Batik might be making a comeback.

I absolutely love flared pants and my Buffalo platform shoes.
The two together are unbeatable.

I’ve kept ALL my Buffalos in every color and style
and hope they come back into fashion.

Okay, I’m a bit older now than I was back then, but for my Buffalos
age doesn’t matter.

Joint discs for crocheted dolls and animals

Hi everyone,

has anyone here ever used joint discs to attach the arms
and legs on crocheted animals or dolls?

How did that work out? Which ones are best to use? Do they hold up well?

I’d like to crochet a
baby doll for my cousin’s little daughter for her 3rd birthday, and I’ve been thinking about
adding joints to the arms and legs so she can play with it “properly.”

Do you think that will work?

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

I’m doing well. I’m still at work right now.
The weekend was nice.
For lunch, I had a salad and a pretzel.

My crafting goal for this week is to finish my soul warmer
after I’ve already unraveled it completely once
before.

It’s wonderfully warm here and the sun is shining.

Counting stitches: How many are you doing today? Counting paper cutouts / Counting seams

I managed to finish the main part of my soul warmer.

BUT:

It wasn’t wide enough—it was too long instead.
So I unraveled the whole thing. Completely.

My daughters looked at me in utter horror.

Oh well, back to square one.

Hello,

it's 26° and sunny here. Starting tomorrow, they’ve forecast
thunderstorms and rain for us.

Right now I’m still at work until 3:30 p.m.
At 4:30 p.m. my friend is coming by for one or
two coffees.

I already crocheted this morning and during my break.
It was 85 tr, 170 sc, 450 dc.

Maybe I’ll still get the main part of my soul warmer
finished today. That would be really great.

Christmas atmosphere: How do you create it?

Hi,

this will be our third time spending Christmas vacation in the Allgäu.
The first year, it felt a little strange not to
be home for Christmas.
Last year was absolutely wonderful, and hopefully this year will be too.
We’ll finally have some time as a family. That always fell by the wayside amid all the hustle and bustle
.

Nevertheless, I’m going to decorate our apartment for Christmas.
I’m really looking forward to it. That’s definitely part of the experience.

I’ll bake cookies with the kids, and we’ll visit the
Christmas market.

Unicorn keychains... I’ve got a story to tell you about those

Hi everyone,

yes, the unicorns were a huge hit. With everyone. Even the parents.

The boys are 11 and 12 years old.

I was completely blown away when they whined that
they wanted a unicorn, too.

My daughter looked completely incredulous. At first, everyone thought it
was a joke. But no, it wasn’t.

Well, there’s no way around it—I have to get back to making unicorns. *sob*
I was so happy that I’d finished the 12. Although, actually, there were supposed to be
15.

Hello,

I'm doing pretty well. I just have a bit of a headache.

The weekend was really great. My daughter's
birthday party was a huge success.

This week will hopefully be a bit calmer. We don't have any plans.

My crafting goal is to get my soul warmer
finished this week and then get started
on the 6 additional unicorn keychains.

The weather is good. The sun is shining here, but it's not quite that warm.

For lunch we just had bread. Tonight we're having pumpkin soup. I'm
looking forward to that.

Unicorn keychains... I’ve got a story to tell you about those

Hi,

some of you probably still remember my 12 unicorn keychains.
They were supposed to be party favors for my oldest daughter’s birthday.
The girls were supposed to get the keychains, and the boys were supposed to get shower gel.

So much for that.

When the birthday party was over on Saturday night and my daughter handed out the little bags,
the boys (six of them) started yelling that they wanted a unicorn, too.
At first I thought they were joking. But no, they were dead serious.

At first, we all had a good laugh about it. But when it dawned on me what that
meant for me, the laughter faded.
So now I have to get back to making unicorns.

Hello,

Patterns that are posted and knock me off my feet at first sight,

Patterns that I really like but don’t know if or when I’ll

Hardworking little helpers: Did you have a smooth start to the month?

Hi,

I’ve also made it safely into September.

I’m still at work right now. This morning before work
, I crocheted the finishing edge (4 rows) of my sleeve and
unraveled it again during my break because it was too wide.

Later, I’ll be studying math and baking waffles—I promised
my girls I would.

After that, I’ll get back to crocheting.

Hi,

the weekend was good. We celebrated my oldest
daughter’s 12th birthday. The kids’ birthday party is next Saturday.

The weather is nice. The sun is shining right now.

For lunch we just had sandwiches; tonight we’re having curry meatballs
with pasta salad.

Since my husband is taking the kids on a bike ride and I’m still at the office
, I’ll do some laundry later and keep crocheting on my vest.
Today I’ll finish the first sleeve and maybe even start the
second one. I’d like to wear my vest by the weekend.

After that, I’ll start a soul warmer, and I’m already thinking
about Christmas projects.

Happy with August?

Hi,

August has been good so far.
Sure, there were a few minor setbacks, but there were also lots of wonderful things.

For example, last Saturday we met Jo Gerner from GZSZ on the Rhine in Cologne,
as well as Ute from Unter Uns and Finn Albrecht from AWZ.
That’s been our highlight so far.

Tomorrow our eldest turns 12, and tomorrow evening we’ll be celebrating with some very dear
friends.

Things have also gone well with my crocheting. I was able to finish all the unicorns and the bookmarks.
Now I’m working on my vest. That’s starting to take shape, too.

How’s it going? Are you feeling good? Weather Update / Weekly Plans / Lunch

Hi everyone,

after a busy weekend, I’m totally wiped out.
We were in Cologne. There, we met a few actors from
GZSZ, Unter uns, and AWZ by the Rhine. Our two girls were totally
over the moon.
Then we had a 2-day TOGGO tour.

The weather could be better—and so could my mood.

Things can only get better.
On Friday, my oldest turns 12. This week is going to be a bit
stressful.

But hopefully there’ll still be time for crocheting.

Stitch Vote: Crafting or Relaxing?

I’ve already been busy crocheting before work and during my break today, and
I’ve managed to get to about 400 stitches.

Since I’ll be at the office until 6 p.m. today, I won’t be crocheting much
this evening. We’ll see.

Given how I’m feeling physically right now, I’d prefer to just laze around.

Best wishes, Heike

Have you bought any yarn today? Who treated themselves to something? Who stayed strong?

@ruthk:

The number has now grown from 10 to 15.
I’ve already finished 5 completely; for 4 of them, I still need to sew on the mane
and tail.
I still have to finish 6 from scratch.

On August 31, 8 will be needed, and on September 8, 7 will be needed.

I’ll be so glad when I’m done with these things. There have been very few
projects that have gotten on my nerves this much.
I’d really love to start on my vest. My fingers are already itching
