Dear users, dear authors,
It’s Monday, and a new week is beginning.
How are you today?
Did you have a nice weekend?
What’s for lunch? Have you tried any new or tried-and-true vegan or vegetarian delicacies—or even recipes with meat or fish?

What’s the weather like?

What’s on your weekly schedule?
What crafting goals do you want to accomplish this week?

Wishing everyone a great start to the week!!!!
I’m still at work and don’t have anything to do right now. That gives me time to knit my scarf. The weekend was nice—I did a lot of knitting. Weather-wise, it’s stormy—sometimes the sun is shining, sometimes it’s cloudy. I’m not having anything for lunch just yet—maybe just a cup of coffee—because I have to go home first (I only work until 1:00), walk the dog, and then I have school again. I might grab an apple for the road.

Wishing you all a great start to the week!
For lunch, we always have sandwiches; for dinner, I’ll probably whip up something on the fly using whatever’s on hand.
My crafting goal for this week is to finish crocheting my loop scarf (just waiting for the last little knot in the yarn cake) and to finish writing and posting a pattern online. — But let’s see what surprises this week has in store for us...

I’m about to have spaghetti with tomato sauce.

Later, I’ll pick up a few groceries so the fridge is stocked.

Other than that, I’ll keep working on the pattern so I can look for a few test knitters.

My daughter and her family stayed with me overnight from Saturday to Sunday on their way from Italy. I made them braised vegetables, cooked pasta, fried veggie patties, and baked a cake (all vegan, of course :-)). The cake recipe wasn’t originally vegan, but I’d already discovered on another occasion that it works wonderfully even without eggs. It used to be a red wine cake, but this time I turned the basic recipe into an apple cake, and it was absolutely delicious.
For lunch today, I’m having a salad made with the leftover pasta, cucumber, tomatoes, lettuce, and greens from my windowsills—I’ve planted lettuce, dandelion greens, arugula, lamb’s lettuce, borage, and purslane, and I hope it all thrives even in winter. I can already harvest some of it, and I’m thrilled.
Because of the visit, though, I’m a little behind on my next pattern—it’s a Christmas gift package, and it’s supposed to be finished by next Saturday. We’ll see if that works out.
After yesterday’s storm and thunderstorm, everything is calm again here and the sun is shining. But it’s gotten noticeably cooler.

The weekend was a mixed bag—in every sense.

On Saturday, we had a “season-ending barbecue” with friends; it was
actually quite nice, aside from a few hiccups.

Yesterday, we took our oldest daughter to the train station. She’s away with her
school in Bad Blankenburg (Thuringia) until Wednesday.
There, she’s playing in the federal football final of “Jugend trainiert für Olympia.”
The goodbye was very tearful. It’s her first time away from home.

After arriving 4.5 hours late, she checked in
at 10 p.m. I was pretty jittery.

My crafting goal for the week is to start
working on Baby Emmi today and get as far as I can.

I also need to do some ironing.

On Friday, we’re heading to Wetzlar for a few days.

Love, Heike

Well,

it’s the last day of our vacation here in Crete.

Tomorrow we’re heading back home—brrr—when I see the temperatures.

Vegan food is only rarely available here, but everything is totally delicious—mpppff.

It was funny that I met several women on the beach who were knitting—haha

—and now I’m also longing a little for my mountains of yarn and to bring my ideas

to life.

I wish you all a great start to the new week

Best regards,
Bitgit

My parents were here today, and I spent the whole time in the kitchen. I made pasta with Bolognese sauce for my parents’ lunch.

Then I made some vegetable broth and plenty of baby food for Anton. I froze it all.

I won’t get much crocheting done this week. My husband is away on a business trip this week, and I’m going to take advantage of having the house to myself once Anton is in bed to work on Christmas gifts. I want to make photo books of Anton’s first year for everyone.
To do that, I first have to sort through the pictures, etc.

Sandra, your grandparents will be so happy if you give them a photo book of Anton. Every year we get a big photo calendar with pictures of Linja. That way, we have her with us all year long and marvel at how she’s growing. A year really makes such a big difference.

We were invited over yesterday, and they made a vegan apple cake just for us. It was super delicious. In the next few days, I’m going to try the vegan herring salad. I’m already curious to see how it tastes.

It’s gotten cold, but I think that’s great for knitting. Let’s see what else I can get done this week.

I'm cooking a big pot of barley soup right now, because at some point around lunchtime today our electricity meters are being replaced, and since I don't know exactly when—or above all, how long it will take—I'm cooking ahead now.

My blanket still needs 5 rows, which means it will definitely be finished today! I'm already looking forward to it! Because it's so long, I was already able to cover my feet with it while knitting last night...

It's definitely nice and warm already. Then I just need to fine-tune the pattern for it a little, so others can enjoy the cozy feeling too!

Monika: Yeah, I think they’ll be really happy about that, too. The photo book from our wedding was a huge hit. But this time, there’ll be a surprise for my husband, too. He got to help decide on the wedding book. :-)

Right now, I’m preparing spinach dumplings for tonight. It’s a new recipe. I’m making them just for myself first, and if they’re delicious, my husband will get to try them, too.

That sounds really delicious, Sandra... Spinach dumplings, hmmm.
It’s funny that you’re trying that first. My husband always has to go along with these kinds of experiments, but he loves it. Because so far, luckily, he’s liked everything—and so have I, of course.

For us, it really varies. Most of the time he tries some too. He also says pretty clearly when he doesn’t like something. And that’s a good thing. We’ve also had a few attempts that I won’t be making again. :-).

I discovered the recipe recently and got a craving for it. So I’ll try it on my own. .... Although not completely on my own. I made 2 that are only lightly seasoned, and Anton can try them this evening.
