Here in Vienna, it’s hot, hotter, hottest. The thermometer keeps climbing, a cloudless, sunny sky is beaming down—and there’s not a trace of the relief we’re hoping for. Unfortunately, there’s also a foehn-like wind blowing now, which just spreads the heat around. You can’t work, you can’t sleep, you can’t do anything—except beg for some relief.
I’m completely incapable of doing anything today; luckily, I’m already home from work and trying to cool off with ice cubes and Cool Pads. Housework or crafts are out of the question today. Hopefully the cool spell that meteorologists promised us will arrive soon.
Here in southeastern Bavaria, it’s currently 33 degrees, sunny... and I’m sitting in front of my computer with the windows closed and the blinds drawn, with the fan on. It’s bearable.
I’m already looking forward to the cooler weather tomorrow.
Temperature at 4 p.m.: 34°C. Actually, it’s not that bad—they were predicting 37 for today. It’s oppressively humid, but apparently the weather is supposed to change overnight. I’m really looking forward to that!
In Mecklenburg, the sun is blazing, not a cloud in the sky—it’s like being on vacation in the Mediterranean. Everything is bone-dry, and given the current direction of the weather front, hardly any rain is reaching us here.
Too bad.
Here in the Lower Rhine region, we’ve been sitting in a darkened house for the past few weeks and keeping our bedroom windows wide open at night to get at least a little relief from the heat (highs of 35–36 degrees).
Today it rained heavily twice for an hour each time, and there were light thunderstorms. Right now it’s 24 degrees, so it’s nice and comfortable.
We’re doing a bit better up here in the far north—pleasant, sunny temperatures between 25 and 28 degrees, some wind, and even a little rain yesterday, so it’s pretty chill for now.
To everyone who’s sweating right now, I really feel for you. I’ll send some rain your way.
The cooler weather is definitely noticeable—so nice! It’s been quite windy at times, and we’ve even had a few drops of rain here on the Swiss Plateau. But the garden is crying out for more water!
20 degrees and rain—it’s just wonderful! I’ve got all the windows and doors open to let the breeze through; hopefully that’ll cool down the walls soon, too.
I actually managed to knit 4 more rows of my blanket last night! The temperature was quite pleasant. This morning at 5:30 a.m., it was only 14.5 degrees....
Finally, a little cooler! Yesterday, it poured buckets while the sun was shining, treating us to a magnificent rainbow: (Unfortunately, it doesn’t look as beautiful in the photo as it did in real life)
