Dear users, dear authors,
Which is nicer / which do you like better?
[ ] Starting an exciting new project.
[ ] Successfully finishing a project you've already put a lot of work into, receiving compliments for it, uploading photos, etc.
--> Is finishing UFOs especially enjoyable for you?

Let me know.

[x] I really enjoy starting new projects, and the excitement lasts until I can clearly see how it’s turning out.

[x] And when everything is finished, I’m thrilled to finally show it to the world.

So for me, the beginning and the end are equally enjoyable; it’s the middle part that’s sometimes difficult.

I only end up with UFOs on my personal projects. Finishing those is more of a relief than a pleasure :-).

I feel the same way as Inna...
Both are wonderful!

For me, the worst part is the long middle section: the initial excitement has faded, and the end isn’t in sight yet ;)

It’s more exciting to start something new, but depending on what it is, I also want to finish old projects first.

Of course it’s exciting to start something new, especially when you’ve been really looking forward to the new wool/yarn.

But I especially like finishing a piece, seeing whether it turns out the way I imagined it, and of course you also like to present it and collect some praise.
The whole creation process itself is exciting, seeing how a piece grows...

I love starting new things... but I try not to let the number of UFOs get too high.

I try to be disciplined and finish projects I’ve started before starting something new. But I don’t always succeed. Sometimes the new project is just more important (or more exciting). Right now, for example, I’m working on Christmas patterns. So the sweater I’m making for myself has to take a back seat. In general, I don’t have much patience for large projects. Projects that take too long often bore me quickly. That’s why I mainly make smaller items that can be finished quickly.

For me, it's basically that I'm constantly itching to
start a new project, even though the one I've started isn't finished
yet.
Then I always try to be very disciplined and finish the project.

Right now I'm working on my soul warmer. There are still about 6
rows of the border missing. Now I'm already itching to start the
baby doll for my cousin's little girl for her 3rd birthday.

So far I've been brave and managed to keep working on my soul warmer
.

Best wishes, Heike

--> Is finishing UFOs especially nice for you? No. With UFOs, I’m simply glad when I’ve finally finished them or decided to unravel them.

I prefer starting projects with a new pattern and new yarn. Accordingly, I have a lot of UFOs or yarn I’ve already started knitting with.

But since my yarn stash is supposed to get smaller so I can buy new yarn, I inevitably need to finish projects too. These are usually smaller projects like hats, cowls, and shawls. But even with those, you can try out great patterns and quickly move on to the next yarn.

I find the process of creating the piece beautiful. Being right in the middle of it, when the work is taking shape and you can dream about what the project will look like, how you’ll wear it, what you’ll do with it—and it’s relaxing to just knit, watching row after row glide off the needles. I simply love the creative process. Sure, it’s exciting to start something new—starting with buying the yarn—but I’m also always a little bit sad when a project comes to an end and the work is done.

I love the entire process, from start to finish.
Of course, starting a new project is the most exciting part, but it can also be pretty annoying at times. Especially because it usually involves a lot of calculations (measurements).

For me, the creative process is very important, because I usually develop the details of new projects as they take shape. That’s when I get lots of ideas about how it could look. And that’s really exciting. I let myself be surprised, so to speak. And then it turns out really great.

I also like the end, because then I can give the finished product as a gift or use it myself.

UFOs… well. If it weren’t for the monthly UFO thread here, I’d probably have quite a few projects lying around unfinished. It’s just more fun—and, of course, motivating—when we can show off our finished UFOs here.

I love starting projects—finishing them is great too, but since I really hate weaving in ends, I tend to put off finishing them a bit… no matter how great the project may have been.

Most of the time, I jot down my ideas in my notebook when I have a project in progress, but sometimes I get such an urge to start that I try to put the idea into practice right away.
The result is that I almost always have several projects in progress. Strangely enough, right now I only have one, but an idea from my notebook is already tempting me so much that I’ll probably start it soon.
