Dear users, dear authors,
Fall is crafting time, so I hope lots of you will join in.

The August threads for catching up:
August Projects: UFO Week starting August 27, Wallflowers and Saving Yarn, Best with Leftovers,
Yarn Diet / Yarn Emperor/Empress / Rule over this Galaxy / Milky Way

Final sprint and awards ceremony for the August projects // new: with a title for Shopping Queens

Here are the details for September.

Earn extra points / bonus points:
--> good for your karma :- )

- You get extra points for photos.
- Handcrafts that are given as gifts also earn extra points.

UFO King/Queen in September / finish at least one UFO and earn the honorary title
UFO Week starts on September 24. The final sprint with awards ceremony will then take place on October 1/2.
If you finish at least one UFO = unfinished object / craft project that has been sitting around for a while, you can have this title.

Best with Leftovers in September
Anyone who uses up lots of leftover yarn will be awarded this title.

Yarn Diet in September - three versions

Become Yarn Emperor/Empress:
Anyone who buys no yarn in September and uses only stash yarn will be awarded this title.

Winner in the final round for rule over this galaxy / the Milky Way:
This campaign has been running since August 6. Anyone who has not bought any yarn since then and through the end of October / will not buy any yarn is automatically in the final round for rule over this galaxy.
--> Starting in November you can buy again, so you can stock up your supplies for Christmas gifts.

Inner Slacker Conqueror - stick with the yarn diet for a full year
365 days without buying yarn is definitely difficult for some people here, but it is worth it. The stash shrinks, beautiful projects are created, and you receive the title as well as lots of positive feedback.
Haekeltrulla: How is it going for you? Marion / Wollefaden is still at it too?
Anyone else still at it / newly started?

New: Shopping Queen / King:
If the yarn diet is not for you, then I wish you lots of fun shopping. That will also earn you a title. Photos are always a good idea.

Saving Wallflowers in September:
Anyone who works from a pattern that has not yet been made and has been sitting around for a while can claim this title. It does not matter whether the pattern was paid or free.
Please remember to give the respective author feedback, leave a comment, or rate the pattern. That also gives extra points.

Yarn Saver / Material Saver (= the former stepchild title for using stubborn yarn / stubborn
material ):
If you have yarn that has been sitting around unused for a while because it never fit anywhere, and you use it in a beautiful project, then this title belongs to you.
Get started. The yarn is already looking forward to it.

Frogging Monster Conqueror:
You can write the details here in this thread or over in the link as well:
Frogging Monster Thread: what have you frogged and why?
Anyone who conjures up something beautiful from a (former ) frogging monster has earned lots of compliments and, of course, the title. :- )

Learn something new and win in the process / with it
Anyone who learned something new in September will be recognized for it at the end of the month.

September projects / the last garden/balcony projects
There is room here in the thread for all projects from the month of September.
The time for garden and balcony projects is slowly coming to an end; of course you can write up the details about them.
Starting in October, we may replace the garden projects with cozy blanket projects. :- )

Concrete casting: forum trend
This is going really well here in the forum.
Here is the thread for it:
Concrete casting: popular hobby with many possibilities (No advertising )
Anyone who likes can also receive a title for it.
Specialist in Concrete Casting :- )

More titles as needed: Nobody goes offline without a title.
Each of you ( user / author ) who crafts in September, is diligent about it, overcomes challenges (in the crafting area or beyond )
etc. etc. and writes about it here in the thread will be awarded a
suitable title (if necessary, I will invent a new title ) and will receive feedback,
support, and compliments from the users and authors here in the
thread.

I’m joining in for September. I don’t know yet if I’ll finish any UFOs.
In any case, I’ll knit or crochet everything from leftover yarn.

I started with a shawl (BOBBEL), and then I absolutely have to keep working on my blanket.

I’ll just see how far I get.

Of course, I’m joining in again—and I’m really looking forward to it. :-)

I’ll definitely finish two UFOs. As for what else gets finished… we’ll see. I’ll be traveling in September (visiting my grandchild), so I won’t get to knit or crochet as much as I do at home. But I’ll make the most of the trip and have already started a big project for it: a vest with a cable pattern for my husband.

I’d love to join in and finish my blanket. I found a sweater I want to alter, and I still have enough leftover yarn for two larger projects. My husband likes granny blankets, so I’ll add those to my to-do list too.
And I still have the yarn gift cards I got for my birthday. I’m itching to redeem them, but first, I want to use up the leftover yarn (except for the cotton), and second, I don’t want to just go shopping aimlessly—I want to have a specific project in mind…
So I’m torn between being a “Shopping Queen” and a “Leftover Master”… let’s see what the month brings.

Since I discovered a new yarn shop in the neighborhood last night (or rather, almost in the middle of the night), I’ll probably be shopping again this month :)
I’ve even already messaged the owner and am looking forward to visiting her tomorrow!
...If this keeps up, I’ll need a third job ;)
...But then I’ll have even less time for crocheting. Tough call.
--> Anyway, I’m already out of the yarn diet again before the month has even started!

Let’s see if I can use up a bit of leftover yarn, but I’ve got enough UFOs now that I can finish them :)

A project just landed on my desk. We’re invited to a silver wedding anniversary at the end of September. We actually wanted to chip in with our neighbors, but it looks like they’re leaving us in the lurch. So, just to be safe, I’m crocheting a bride and groom.

No idea how far I’ll get in September—if things keep going as they have been, not much will come of it! At the end of September, we’ll finally meet our youngest grandchild, and I feel just like mowi19: It’s harder away from home than at home! And there’s still a lot of other stuff to do before then. But I’ve already finished two little things: the baby booties (already given away—they fit perfectly and brought great joy) and a mini crocheted pouch—both projects made from leftover yarn.

Sandra, that’s a really great idea for the bride and groom. They’ll definitely be delighted.

Christina, I’m so happy for you about this big moment—finally being able to hold your grandson in your arms. That’s something so special. :-)

You’ll have time to crochet on the flight… assuming you’re even allowed to bring something like that in your carry-on luggage on the plane.

Best regards, Monika

I just started a new winter project because I was so excited about fall: a soul warmer in shades of pink and orange. Now I’m alternating between crocheting my summer trousers and knitting my soul warmer. Hopefully both will be finished in September, because I already have new ideas, and I’ll get the yarn for my tunic in two weeks.

Christina: Crochet hooks are allowed in your carry-on. You can even bring a small pair of rounded children’s scissors. I always do :-)

Sandra, just to be safe, I’ll check with my daughter right away—she works at a travel agency. That would be great, of course, especially since we still have to change planes.

Learned something new—crochet hooks are allowed on planes. Great! That’s something, at least. :-)

Some airlines have stricter rules. For example, you may only bring a needle if it’s made of plastic and contains no metal parts. To be on the safe side, I’d recommend bringing an envelope addressed to yourself; if the needle isn’t allowed on the plane, you can mail it home instead of throwing it away.

I think every airline handles crochet hooks differently. It’s best to ask them directly :)
You can let us know afterwards.
In any case, I wish you all the best and hope you have fun getting to know everyone :)

I started the curtain for my mother over yesterday because I wasn’t happy with my first attempt.
Crochet thread and tiny hooks are not my friends anymore ;)
(Even if I use a 1.25 hook... it’s actually still manageable...)

Before that, I was at the new (or rather: newly discovered) yarn shop I told you about. It’s sooo lovely, and I talked with the owner for a long time.
She’s such a lovely woman, and there’s gorgeous hand-dyed yarn as well as hand-wound yarn cakes in all colors and sizes! Even with glitter threads, sequins,... And since she winds and dyes them herself, I can even tell her what I’d like!
I’ve used sequin yarn cakes before, but I think it’s wonderful that I can now buy them right around the corner! I’ll be there more often! :)

The first time I flew with a crochet hook, I called customs. They told me the same thing about scissors, and apparently it’s the same in every country. I’ve flown with a hook quite often since then
and it was never a problem. Not even in Barcelona, where the checks on the way back were really thorough.

Well, my daughter advises me against taking a crochet hook on the plane, especially since we’re traveling to the U.S. So I’ll just have to make do with my Tolino or solve Sudoku puzzles! It’s not that bad, after all!

Heike, I like your vest, too. It looks great!

I’m making good progress on the vest for my husband as well. I started the fourth skein tonight. I’m knitting it in one piece up to the armhole. It’s working out great.

Who can guess which room it’s going in? :D

Marion, that looks really beautiful—what you’ve conjured up there. I’ve already knitted quite a bit of the vest for my husband. However, I’m traveling right now and have spent a lot of time with my granddaughter over the last few days. So I didn’t get around to knitting at all—only today since we left. While on the road, it was just too hot for me to knit with thick yarn.

I’m hoping I’ll be able to get some more done over the next two days, but the forecast for Lake Constance is still calling for very warm weather. And we’re going to enjoy the last few days of our vacation now.

I’ll post a photo of the vest—and everything else—once I’m back home. The internet connection here is terrible, so uploading pictures just isn’t working.

Oh, and I also finished a UFO—the hat. Photos of that will follow, too.

By the way, the preschool bag was a huge hit! Linja wears it almost day and night and hides all kinds of treasures inside it. The size is just right for her at 2 1/2 years old. It couldn’t have been any bigger. We put the bag to the test while collecting chestnuts to see how much it could handle. And I have to say, it exceeded my expectations.

Since Linja won’t be starting kindergarten until next year, I’ll probably crochet her a bigger one by then.

Well, that’s it for my travel report. I probably won’t be able to really get back into the swing of things here until the middle of next week.

Warm regards to all of you from Monika

I’ve now crocheted all the individual pieces for the bridal couple. But it turns out we don’t need it after all. So the pieces will go into the cupboard and wait for the next wedding / silver wedding anniversary.

Now I’ve crocheted 1.5 balls of yarn into the base layer for the baby blanket. Well, and now I need a bit of variety first, so I’ll keep working on the door wreath. :-)

This weekend I finished 3 projects at once!

-A hat for my grandma (I actually thought I’d already mentioned that... hmmm). I only started it a few days ago.

-A hat made from the rest of the yarn cake from my Möbius. I only started that hat the day before yesterday as well, and I’m proud that I actually stuck with something for once.

-And I also finished a UFO: a simple little shawl made from leftover yarn cake yarn!
My grandma will get it for the girls’ Christmas shoebox :)

This is my month, I can feel it! :D

Pictures will follow tonight, if I remember :)

It doesn’t quite feel like my month yet… I’m actually missing my piles of yarn around me right now—we’re still traveling.

Instead, I’ve now started rescuing a neglected pattern. More than a year ago, I bought the pattern for the Winter Bear from Ottertaler Häkelmaus. And now I’ve brought it along on the trip and already started working on it today. However, I’m currently missing the stuffing.

Tomorrow I’ll start on the paws, the little tail, and the snout. Once I’m back home, I’ll continue with the body once I can stuff it.

You’ve already gotten so much finished. Why don’t you post your photos here for us to admire? Then we won’t have to spend so much time searching through the gallery.

So you don’t have to look it up in the gallery, here are my two little guardian angels.
Thank you, Haekelweltmitherz (as you can see, I even took the designer’s name literally for one of them!) I modified the hairstyles: I had to crochet the black fringed head “blind,” and for the second little angel, I braided three foundation chains and then sewed them securely all around.

Your creations look great!
Tina, the shawl made from leftovers turned out really beautiful color-wise, and I think the hats are fantastic! Marion, your hooded scarf is cute—you can tell right away it’s your work. And Christina’s little guardian angels are so beautiful, too! Great job on the customized hairstyles!
Marion, your Else turned out great, and so did the things made from sponge yarn—though I still wonder: doesn’t that feel uncomfortable on your hands when you’re crocheting?
Besides my blanket, I’ve already crocheted four granny squares. My first time “out in the wild” :D
We took the kids to a trampoline park, and I brought my crochet supplies along.
My blanket has grown some more. I just need one more pink stripe and one more yarn cake, and then it’s done!

I couldn’t agree more—you’ve all created some amazing pieces.

Mel, Monika actually made that hat, though. Sponge yarn
is wonderful for knitting and crocheting. But if you make a few pieces in a row, you do start to feel it a bit in your hands. It’s not that bad, though.

I’ve also been working on my blanket—it’s really grown already. Maybe I’ll finish it this month.

Tina, I love your selfies. That way we get to see you too. :-) You look great in those hats. Your shawl looks fantastic, too.

Christina, the little angels look adorable with their pretty details.

Marion, your sensory blanket is really coming together nicely. The little bows go perfectly with it. I’ll continue crocheting my wallflower project, the little winter bear, tomorrow. Then I’ll take a few photos outside too, for example of the vest.

Today I unraveled almost an entire front panel of a sweater I’d started. My daughter-in-law gave me a whole bag full of sock yarn from her grandmother’s estate - white, black, gray, beige. The colors aren’t really my thing, but I’ll make something pretty out of it.

Here’s a photo of the vest I’m making for my husband. I used up an entire skein of yarn working on it today at the campground:

I didn’t make any progress on the little winter bear today. Here’s how it looks so far. I have to stuff the body now, and I can only do that at home. It might turn into a UFO that I’ll take with me into October… we’ll see.

Marion, I really wanted to crochet that leaf too, so it’s great that you showed it here!
My blanket is on the home stretch! Only 3/4 of the last skein left, then it’s done. I can hardly wait, because after that I’ll finally be “allowed” to work with the new Bobbel! If I had started it earlier, the blanket would have become a UFO...

My knitted blanket is almost finished. Just 5 cm of the border left, then it’s done. I don’t have any UFOs right now, but I have 1,000 ideas for new projects. And I still have to decide which project to take with me on vacation in 3 weeks.

Sofie and Mel, you’ve been really busy, wow!

Yeah, I feel the same way about the 1,000 ideas. Now I’ve actually started yet another new project - slippers for myself. I need them now, and I can also knit them on the side while watching movies.

For the other projects, I need time and peace and quiet at the point where I am with them. At least until the end of the week, I don’t have that.

Oh dear, if it weren’t for the motivation from this thread, my UFOs would be flying at me from all sides.... ;-)

Have fun, all of you, with the final push for September.

Best, Monika

I’m looking through everything you’ve already finished with a bit of envy right now. I probably won’t get anything done this month. I was sure I’d finish an openwork sweater, but in the second row of the finishing crochet edging, I ran out of yarn. I won’t get around to picking up another skein at the store until next week.
I’ve unraveled my crochet poncho three times, only to go back to the first version after all, so that one won’t be finished either.
And project no. 3, a short-sleeved knitted shirt, is something I work on here and there, depending on whether I feel like knitting or crocheting. That’s going to take a while too...
Well, I’ll make up for it in October by showering you with pictures.
Right now, I’m nursing my cold again. It’s freezing, the heating is blasting away nonstop, and I’m cold as can be ;-) I guess lots of people are feeling the same way right now.

Michaela: I know that feeling. I won’t finish anything in September either. And the worst part is that right now I have an insane number of ideas for all the things I absolutely “have to” make. Tomorrow, yarn for Project 5 is arriving.

But I hereby vow that I’ll first finish at least 2 projects before I start the next project.
:-)

Project 5 will be a giraffe for Anton. He loves my crocheted things and still hasn’t settled on a cuddly toy. Maybe it’ll be the giraffe (that will probably be the first project to get finished).

Then I’ve also got 2 baby blankets on the go (but one can only be finished once the baby is here, since it will be personalized).

A door wreath for Anton will probably secretly be the 2nd project to get finished.

And then I’m also working on a doily for my mother; it’s supposed to be a Christmas present, but whether that will be in 2018 remains to be seen.

Besides that, I want to start a 6-month yarn-indulgence phase in October. ..
We’ll see.

I have to share this with you all so that I can actually do it.

Wow, Marion, you’ve been so productive!! The blanket turned out really pretty. :-)

I’m in a similar boat to Sandra. For some reason, September just isn’t going my way. My UFOs are staring at me every day, but I just can’t seem to get around to them. I’m pretty swamped at work right now.

And I have a thousand ideas for new things I could start ... A few days ago, I started making new slippers for myself because I really need them right now. I can work on them in between while watching movies. Everything else requires my full attention.

By the way, I’m also going to start the “Wool Diet” in October... I have so much yarn that I wouldn’t need to buy any more for the next few years.

Tell me, Sandra, what is this "Wolllust" you want to keep up for 6 months? ;-)
That sounds like a lot of piles of yarn.

I’ll post photos of everything that’s finished by the weekend.

And then I’ve decided to finally finish writing up a few unfinished patterns.

It should say “yarn diet” :-)))) My phone doesn’t seem to trust me and turned it into “yarn lust” instead. :-)))) Maybe I should give in to my “yarn lust” after all, that would probably be more fun than a diet.

Oh, buying everything you want for half a year doesn’t sound so bad after all. :-)

Okay, ladies, the awards ceremony is Monday/Tuesday. So you still have a few days left.

Oh Sandra, that’s funny. The “Wool Diet” will definitely be fun if several of us join in. Especially if you have enough stash. It’s really motivating when it gradually shrinks and you conjure up beautiful things from it.

Right now, I feel like a wool hoarder. :-)
And that doesn’t feel so great right now

Oh yes, I will get a title after all this month; believe it or not, I bought a few Bobbels again :-)

The last batch of wool I ordered arrived today. :-)

The photo books are now finished and ordered, too. I’ve been working on them since 9 p.m.—well, and the last few evenings as well. Man, a slow PC, too many photos, etc.

I checked the book 8 times. I hope I didn’t make any mistakes. I always get nervous about stuff like this. They’re supposed to arrive on the 5th.

Okay. I’m going to bed now. I hope Anton sleeps in until 9 again.

This month, in October, and possibly even longer, there’s a new title for people who finish their Christmas gifts early.
I still need a name for it.
Any suggestions?

Do people like that really exist? Christmas overachievers ;-)
Or early birds?

I’d like a friendly-sounding title. :-)

Arni is almost done with her gifts, if I understood that correctly.

Yes, you got that right :-)))) I had the first ones in May. Yes, I’m an overachiever :-))

Christmas early bird.
The name is tricky... :-)

Extra-hardworking Santas as a title?

It’s supposedly true that there’s a lot of work going on at the North Pole long before Christmas. :- )

@Mel, yes, I like this: “hardworking Christmas elves.”

Any other thoughts on this?

“Hard-working Christmas elves” sounds great to me.

So far, I’m not one yet.

Leftover Yarn Star in September
The knitted baby sneakers, the little guardian angels, the Bubble Rose, and the Tatütata are all made from leftovers.

The little bathrobe is finished: picture below.

Except for the one little guardian angel attached to my bag, everything is being given away!

These are my September baby projects; the little sneakers are keeping my daughter’s youngest neighbor’s feet warm.

@ Christina,

you really did a great job with everything, that bathrobe is just sooo cute!

Best regards,
Birgit

Christina: Is the bathrobe made from regular yarn? It looks so cozy. It looks great.
I like the color combination.

Sandra: Since this terry yarn didn’t come in many colors, I chose the two from our municipal coat of arms… The material is really nice and cozy, doesn’t cause too many problems while knitting (as long as you don’t make any mistakes!), but it’s annoying when finishing up, since you can barely tell what’s a stitch and what’s just fluff…

Christina, you’ve finished knitting some really lovely things. I think the bathrobe is absolutely adorable—and the other items turned out beautifully, too.

By the way, I also think “hardworking Christmas elves” is a very nice and fitting name.

Christina, I think your bathrobe and your other creations are really beautiful!
But I can imagine that sewing it all together wasn’t much fun!
By the way, when crocheting the autumn leaf, I worked strictly from the crochet chart and finally understood the whole thing! So I’ve learned something new!

You’ve all been very hard at work this month and have created some beautiful pieces.
Mel, it’s great that you’ve learned something new. I almost always work from a crochet chart—I prefer that, and it’s also easy when knitting.

I’ve finished two more small pieces: a four-leaf clover made from scrubby yarn and a comforter. We’ll see—maybe I’ll make a rose or two. But that’ll be enough for this month.

So, these are definitely my last September projects.

The lovey, the rose, and the cloverleaf.

I wish you all a wonderful weekend.

Looks great, Marion. You’ve been very busy. :)

I’m not quite done with my UFO baby sweater yet, but I’ve made good progress today.

I can only post the final update, including photos, on Monday. I won’t be able to do it before then.

Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!

Marion, your creations turned out really pretty!
I think loveys are so cute, but unfortunately I don’t have any babies (anymore) to make them for!

Thanks, Monika and Christina.

I won’t be keeping these three pieces for myself either.
I’m in a craft group, and things like this are always needed there. Luckily, because it’s just so much fun to make little things like these.

Please add your names so I can award lots of titles.

Of course, the “Shopping Queen” title will be back as well, along with all the other title highlights.

Josefa, I won’t be able to do it until tomorrow. I still need to weave in the ends on my finished UFO and take a photo first thing tomorrow morning. Will that still be in time?

Then I’ll only get around to writing a September overview.
