My old ironing board finally broke apart—it was just getting too old ;-) It had been around for well over 20 years. I took the cover off and washed it; I knew the part underneath was still in great shape, but the outer fabric had seen better days. I looked in my fabric bin, found a piece of fabric, laid it over the top, and sewed it securely in place—so now it can serve me well once again. The fabric underneath is still in great shape, so why throw it away?

Best regards, Inge
Very good, dear Inge! I’m always in favor of saving anything that’s still in good condition. And with the new covering, the ironing board certainly serves its purpose.
I once threw an ironing cover like that into the washing machine on a whim because the fabric had stains from ironing. But that ruined the entire foam-backed lining. I had no choice but to throw it away. I learned from that never to put ironing covers in the washing machine.
But your solution is clever and practical. And you saved the money on a new cover.
Best regards, Ina
