Joint discs for crocheted dolls and animals

Hi everyone,

has anyone here ever used joint discs to attach the arms
and legs on crocheted animals or dolls?

How did that work out? Which ones are best to use? Do they hold up well?

I’d like to crochet a
baby doll for my cousin’s little daughter for her 3rd birthday, and I’ve been thinking about
adding joints to the arms and legs so she can play with it “properly.”

Do you think that will work?

I haven’t added joints to any of my own projects yet, but I know someone who’s been talking about it for a long time and has finally put it into practice.
The lovely Sabine from Otterthaler Häkelmaus just uploaded her reindeer pattern this morning, and it includes joints.

  Unfortunately, I can’t tell you much about it, but when Sabine writes a pattern like that, I know it’s turned out well.

It works^^

The size of the discs should depend on the yarn you’re using.
For thick yarn with a meterage of 90 m, I used teddy bear joints with a diameter of 3.5 cm (I got them from Buttinette) — they work great for assembly and movement.

I’m still looking for smaller ones.
