I’ve also tried my hand at concrete casting.

I wouldn’t have thought this topic would be so popular.

Once it’s poured and dried, it’s time to plant it. It’s actually fun.

Doesn't the concrete stick to the mold? Or is there a trick to it?

Yes, concrete casting and concrete leaves, or planters. That’s true, it’s just as much fun as needlework ;0)

@ruthk Coat the entire mold with vegetable oil before pouring in the concrete; then, once it’s dry, it practically falls out of the mold on its own. Smaller molds, like cookie cutters, require more careful handling, but if you’re patient and wait until they’re completely dry, you’ll be able to remove them easily as well.

It works the same way with leaves. If you coat them with oil, you can remove the leaf from the concrete very easily. Here’s a picture

@Nadeleule - your leaf is beautiful. Is the blue from the photography, or did you paint it?
I haven’t dared to try a leaf (rhubarb) yet. I think they’re really pretty as stepping stones for the path or as a birdbath.
