Become a Yarn Emperor/Empress + stick to a yarn diet

Hello,

oh great. I’m in.
Hopefully I’ll actually be able to use up a lot of it, or crochet a lot of it up.

My husband is already tearing his hair out whenever he sees yarn ;-)

Best regards, Heike

How’s your crafting and the yarn coming along?

Hello and good morning,

things are going well here. My thick winter sweater is almost finished; just the cuff left.
I have so many great crochet projects planned that I don’t even know where
to start.

Yeah—the yarn…
that’s a whole other story…
ACTUALLY, I have enough, but I still keep buying more.

The sun is shining here, and tonight I’m going out to a Chinese restaurant with my coworker……
mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmhhhhhhhhhhh.

I’m really looking forward to it.

Best regards, Heike

Material Usage // Completed Projects, 3rd Quarter 2017

Hi,

so here’s what I finished:

1 vest for myself (about 700 gr. of yarn)
2 little lucky pigs for my daughters (about 50 gr. of yarn)
1 Halloween witch (about 600 gr. of yarn)
1 dragon (about 350 gr. of yarn)
2 small handbags (about 700 gr. of yarn)

Thank goodness no new UFOs cropped up.

Best regards, Heike

How did you find Crazypatterns?

Hi everyone,

so I was searching Google for great crochet patterns and
that’s how I found CP.

Ever since I discovered this site, I’ve been stopping by very often and am
always happy when my favorite authors post new patterns
.

I love the variety of patterns as well as how helpful the
authors are when something doesn’t work out quite as it should.

Keep it up.

Best wishes, Heike, who’s sitting at work and can’t wait to get home
to keep crocheting her sweater

Christmas Traditions

Hi,

we’ve had some new traditions since last year.

Up through 2015, Christmas went like this:

On Christmas Eve, my in-laws, my brother-in-law, and my daughter were at our
place. On Christmas Day, the same group had breakfast with us, stayed for lunch, and came over
for coffee. On Boxing Day, I had 12 people over for lunch and coffee/dinner

. All in all, my place was packed for three days.

I didn’t want THAT anymore, because I, too, have a right to Christmas and a
little rest.

So it happened that last year we drove to the Allgäu for Christmas and New Year’s Eve.
Just the four of us. And what can I say—it was so great.

Last week we booked again and are heading to the Allgäu one day before Christmas Eve.

Best, Heike

Are patterns too expensive?

Hi Susann,

first off: I bought the pattern for Seppl and Lotta from you, as well as various individual clothing items.

When I first stumbled upon your dolls, I thought to myself: Oh my gosh, that’s expensive.
I fell in love with Lotta and just had to buy the pattern for her.
And what can I say: I haven’t regretted it.

The pattern is simply fantastic, and the result is more than amazing. Lotta is a real showstopper.
Unfortunately, I haven’t made Seppl yet because some other project always gets in the way.

A tremendous amount of work goes into the patterns, so the price is definitely justified.

Best regards
Heike

Your new craft project

Hello and good morning!

I received three orders last weekend (two ponchos and one dragon).

Plus, my daughters are asking for all sorts of things.

Christmas is just around the corner.

Right now, I’m crocheting a big witch for Halloween.

Guys, give me some TIME.

Best regards, Heike

Keeping track of everything...... how.....???????

Hi everyone,

I have a question for you:

How do you keep track of your yarn stash, and how do you know what kinds
of yarn, in what colors, and in what quantities you have?

I’ve totally lost track.

I have a huge Kalax shelf from IKEA with 16 drawers.
Ten of them are full of yarn. Then I have several more boxes full as well.

But I no longer know which colors I have of which yarns, or
how much of each.

Can you give me a tip on how to get organized again?

Do you write down what you have, or do you just know it by heart?

OMG, I hope you understand what I mean.

Love, Heike

What have you been crafting today?

Hi,

I crocheted a few more rows on a dragon this morning.

I have a doctor’s appointment tonight, and after that I’ll work on the dragon a little
more.
It’s going to be a christening gift for my cousin’s baby.

Once that’s finished, I’ll crochet myself a vest and a handbag. I’m not sure yet
which one I’ll do first, though. I have yarn for both.

Love, Heike, who’s still at work and will have to hurry to get to the doctor’s.

End of June / Summer – How’s it going? (No advertising)

Hi,

well, the UFOs are still UFOs. I’m not really getting anywhere with new projects either.
My yarn stash is growing steadily because, somehow, nothing’s moving forward.

Am Saturday I’m going on vacation. 15 days...... Thank goodness. I’m really
ready for a vacation.

Crafts: A Cheap or Expensive Hobby?

Hello and good morning,

When I order yarn for a project, I usually get one
extra skein of each color, just in case. Then, when I’m done placing the order and see the
final price, I usually gasp. But once my project is finished,
I’m so proud that I don’t even think about the price anymore.

I’ve spent a fortune, but it’s worth it every single time.

My husband’s hobby is more expensive ;-)

Largest / Smallest Ball of Yarn

Hello and good morning!

The smallest ball of yarn was a 50-gram ball of Catania (not counting leftover yarn),
and the largest was a 700-gram ball of acrylic yarn.

How’s the summer going? (no advertising)

Hi everyone,

Summer is going pretty well. It’s warm and sunny here.

The garden looks great, and the pool is set up. ;-)

On July 1, we’re heading to Garmisch for 15 days. I’m really looking
forward to it.

I don’t have a summer craft project (yet), since I’ve been in a creative slump for
over a week now and I feel like
I can’t seem to get out of it :-(

Heike

Hi Pe-Ka,

the blanket is turning out really beautiful.
Are you making it using the C2C technique?

Your daughter will be very proud of her new blanket.

Great!

Help, I don’t know what to...

...what to crochet next.

Hello and good morning,

I finished the bag for my daughter yesterday without a pattern, and now I don’t know
what to crochet.

So here are the facts:

There is tons of yarn (some already for projects)
There are also tons of patterns

BUT: I don’t know WHAT to start.

This has never happened to me before.

Maybe you can help me get out of my CROCHET SLUMP.

Best regards
Heike

What kind of handicrafts do you do in the heat? (no advertising)

Hi,

well, I crochet in any weather.
That said, at these temperatures, I prefer to crochet with cotton yarn.

Right now, I’m crocheting a handbag for my daughter. Unfortunately, there
is no pattern for it, so I have to make it all up myself.

Best wishes, Heike

Introduction

Hi Elke,

I stumbled upon CP about two years ago and have only recently
started posting in the forum.

My name is Heike, I’m 39 years old, and I have two sweet daughters (10 and 8), a wonderful husband, and
two mini pigs (we had to put our third one to sleep four weeks ago) :-(
We all live together in the most beautiful state in the world—the Saarland.

I’ve been hooked on crocheting for 5 years. Crocheting helps me unwind really well in the evenings after my
full-time job in administration and the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

I hope you have a great time here.

Best regards
Heike

When do you start ......

@iglinz :

It’s exactly the same for me every year. Because of the stress (which I put on myself), I always resolve to start earlier—just like I’m doing now. But when the time comes,
I still have so many other projects I want to finish first, and before I know it,
it’s the end of October and I realize I haven’t even started yet.

;-)

When do you start ......

..... crocheting for Christmas?

Good morning,

do you already have any ideas for Christmas (decorations or gifts), and when
will you start?

This isn’t meant to be an advertising thread. More of a general discussion.

So I’ll probably start with
Christmas things after my vacation in mid-July. A bit of decoration, little angels, and as for gifts
I still need to think about them.

Best wishes
Heike

Question of the Week: What have you been crafting today? (no advertising)

Hi there, you busy bees!

During my lunch break today, I continued crocheting a row *lol* on a vest
for myself.

I’m glad when I’m off work (4:30 p.m.) and can finally keep crocheting.
I’ve set myself the goal of finishing one sleeve today.
We’ll see.

Best wishes, Heike

I need a brilliant idea

Hi everyone,

I have the following problem:

I want to crochet something great as a farewell gift for my
daughter’s caregivers.
But I don’t know what.

I need to crochet five of them by June 28, 2017, and they should
look amazing—so what should I make?

Do you have any ideas and can you help me?

Warmest regards from Heike, a crochet fanatic

Lottery winnings: What would you do with them? (No advertising)

With a lottery win of 1 million euros, we would:

Pay off our mortgage here in full, buy a house in Garmisch, and move there.
Buy a new car, give each child a share, and invest the rest.
Oh, and I’d buy a looooooot of yarn.

I’d cut my full-time job back to part-time (then I’d have more time to crochet ;-))

What have you been crafting today? (no advertising)

Hi everyone,

today I’ve already crocheted a chocolate airplane and a chocolate flower, as well as
a few rows of my vest.

Other than that, I won’t have much time to crochet over the next few days, since my
youngest is celebrating her First Communion on April 23. We’ll all have our hands full then.

Best wishes, Heike

What's your current craft project? (No advertising)

I just finished a great birthday caterpillar for my daughter.
I’m also in the middle of crocheting an Easter basket and a vest for myself.
