Summer is going wonderfully. The sun is shining, and it’s not so hot yet that I can’t sleep at night.

My vacation is all booked. In August, we’re heading to the lake for a week with an inflatable boat and plenty of good cheer. Just in case the weather doesn’t cooperate, I’m bringing enough yarn to keep me busy. And since I’ll have time for crafts, I’m also packing a few games for the kids.

I still have one summer craft project in the works, but it should be finished as early as next week. Summer’s still long—I’m sure I’ll find one or two more projects to tackle.

I’m just going to leave the garden at home as it is for now. My husband wants to pour some concrete by the stairs, so our place looks like it always does—like a construction site. He’s just as passionate about renovating as I am about crafts.
But when we both need a break, we have a little quiet spot in the garden that’s off-limits to renovations, and that’s where we retreat to enjoy the greenery and the pool.
And my son is now at the age where he’d rather ride his bike to the pool with his friends. So it’s really quiet at home—until he shows up with the whole gang because it’s too crowded at the pool again.

I just love summer. Just like every season. You always have to make the best of it!

Hi everyone,

Summer is going pretty well. It’s warm and sunny here.

The garden looks great, and the pool is set up. ;-)

On July 1, we’re heading to Garmisch for 15 days. I’m really looking
forward to it.

I don’t have a summer craft project (yet), since I’ve been in a creative slump for
over a week now and I feel like
I can’t seem to get out of it :-(

Best regards,
Heike

I don’t have a garden, and it looks like I won’t get around to my planned balcony garden this year either. I just have too much crocheting to do! ;-)))

No, joking aside, summer is going well. It’s already been a bit too warm at times, and I’m looking forward to it staying a little cooler for a while.
My summer vacation is already booked, even though it’s still a few months away. As always, I’m heading to the Chiemgau, and I’ve found a lovely vacation rental just a few kilometers from Lake Chiemsee. :-)

Hello everyone
The garden is doing well; unfortunately, so many fruits froze. Apricots galore will have to be rescheduled for next year. Now we're hoping the rest thrives.
CP sales are going reasonably well. I have ideas myself, but it's too warm to knit, except for smaller things. Then my sister is also very ill, so there's too much going on alongside everything else. But better times will come again.

No vacation is planned; if anything, not until fall. Our little dog is already 12.5 years old, and the heat right now is already a lot for him at home with his Labrador coat. Later he'll get a bath towel wet with cold water; it just goes plop over the little dog. He apparently likes it and stays lying like that.

Wishing everyone a lovely evening

Jana

I like summer when it’s not too hot, so right now it’s ideal. As always, there’s plenty of work waiting in the garden, but I like it a little wilder, and I especially enjoy barbecuing in my own garden. I’ve already been on vacation, and I’ll be spending the summer holidays at home, which I also enjoy very much.

My summer craft project at the moment is gathering ideas for autumn and the Christmas season, because I don’t have anything for that in my shop yet.

Have a lovely day

Best regards, Petra

Hi,

I’m really enjoying the summer. With these temperatures, I like to sit in the shade in the garden and knit or crochet. When it gets too hot, I head to the pool.
This weekend we’re heading off on vacation to Usedom—I’m
really looking forward to it.

I’m still deciding which yarn to pack, because I can’t go without it—even on vacation.

Our garden is planted with lots of vegetables, and since we adopted some more animals today (as of today, I’m a duck and goose mom), we’re also fencing off the vegetable garden. We’ve already made the rest escape-proof so the chickens don’t march over to the neighbor’s. But the guys didn’t realize that young lettuce is also a treat for our feathered friends. Unfortunately, the green beans were severely decimated today. The weather is just right for crocheting in the shade. Whether we’ll go on vacation is questionable, given all our animals. But I do have the garden, the pond, and beautiful surroundings here

We’ve just finished a major garden redesign: there were simply too many trees casting too much shade. Since we also had two new flower beds laid out, the fine-tuning before planting is still ahead of us: piles of rocks and roots need to be removed… At least we can enjoy the patio again.
My crafting is progressing a bit slowly, but I’m not short on projects or materials. First, I’m finishing up various small birthday gifts, and then—unfortunately!—there are still a few (very) old UFOs waiting to be completed!

It’s summer now, and you can definitely feel it: a muggy 30°C in the shade, with occasional thunderstorms.
Vacation? Well, I practically live and work where others go on vacation :-)))
From my front door, it’s either down to the lake (about a 30-minute walk) or up into the mountains. What more could a vacationer’s heart want…
And you can actually knit and crochet anytime—just not underwater while swimming—grin

Did everyone weather the storms okay?

Yesterday I thought the storm was going to shatter my windows. Here, it got dark almost instantly, and then it all started: a storm, a downpour, hail, and thunder. I’m such a “scaredy-cat” when it comes to thunderstorms—childhood memories, and just a few weeks ago, lightning struck the copper cap on a neighbor’s chimney. Everything was rattling here, and the power went out. I was so scared I almost crawled under the table.
Nope, thunderstorms and me—we just don’t mix.

It’s still blowing pretty hard today, but the temperatures are pleasant. Tomorrow I’ll need some nice summer weather again, because we’re dancing at the summer festival at the retirement home. It’s all supposed to take place outside.

Even summer temperatures can’t keep me from crocheting. I just discovered some new cotton yarn—170 meters per 50 grams. I’ll give it a try soon.

Best regards, Marlies

Summer? What summer? Here in Hamburg, it’s autumnally gray, the thermometer is stuck at what feels like 7 degrees, and I’m frustrated. Everyone, everyone else has sunshine—only we northerners have to make our own sunshine yet again. Especially yesterday: Here, the end of the world was rehearsed several times over. At noon, it got so dark for a while that you’d think it was night. Unlike the poor folks south of the Elbe, though, Hamburg has suffered almost no damage.
Except maybe for my baby titmice—they apparently decided, of all days, to fledge yesterday. In any case, air traffic to the birdhouse outside my window has been suspended since yesterday. Hopefully the little ones will make it! (The vultures—uh, crows—were already circling, of course. Sigh...)
