do you already have any ideas for Christmas (decorations or gifts), and when
will you start?
This isn’t meant to be an advertising thread. More of a general discussion.
So I’ll probably start with
Christmas things after my vacation in mid-July. A bit of decoration, little angels, and as for gifts
I still need to think about them.
Personally, I’m not thinking about Christmas at all yet. Summer hasn’t even started yet :D *laughs*
First, I’d like it to get really, really warm—for about 5 months straight... And only then can Christmas come :D
Every year, once Christmas is over, I resolve to start early next time, but somehow it never works out. I’m not really a Christmas person and I don’t do decorations, but everyone loves homemade gifts. It usually ends up being October or November, and then I start to stress out.
It’s exactly the same for me every year. Because of the stress (which I put on myself), I always resolve to start earlier—just like I’m doing now. But when the time comes,
I still have so many other projects I want to finish first, and before I know it,
it’s the end of October and I realize I haven’t even started yet.
For me, Christmas comes as a surprise every year too, and then not all the gifts are finished yet. And I always tell myself I’ll start preparing earlier next time. But it never gets beyond good intentions. But this year I’ll do better.... Hopefully. I’d like to start in September during my vacation.
I’m just like most people in that regard. But this year I made a great resolution and have already put it into action. This week—I’m really hoping today—the yarn for my first Christmas gift should arrive.
It’ll be for my mom. And since I was already placing an order, I went ahead and got a little extra yarn—I think they call that “Sprungwolle,” as I’ve learned here. In my defense, I have to say that I only bought enough to qualify for free shipping......
And now I’m making a firm resolution to start working on Christmas gifts for my mother-in-law and my aunt right away, too. Well, we’ll see if it ends up being the end of September again before I actually get around to it.....
Phew... tough topic. Especially as a designer, you have to be “ahead of the curve,” but I always seem to miss the right moment. ;-)
Especially now that spring finally seems to be here, I’m finding it extremely hard to work with thick yarn. ;-)
For now, it’s all about summer projects. :-)
Christmas? ... starts for me in 2 weeks—at the latest ;-)
Since I’ll be getting the yarn from my friend then and will get to knit 2 girls’ vests—she’s figured out that the sooner she asks, the better the chance I’ll actually do it ;-)
I’ve also been asked to make a mouse by Christmas, so I really do have to start thinking about Christmas already.
So, I actually finished my first Christmas gift in January. Now 5 or 6 are done. By September at the latest, I’m usually finished with everything, just like every year. Sure, sometimes another spontaneous idea comes up, but that always works out. I don’t really make decorations at all. I’m not really the decorating type :-)
The reason I’m always so early is probably that I worked in toy retail for a very long time. And by November at the latest, things were so hectic there that you couldn’t get anything done.
Well, and this year we’re moving in December, so it’s probably a good thing that almost everything is already finished.
I already have a few little things in my Christmas box, and I crochet something every now and then.
However, the contents of the box will surely be “shuffled around” quite a bit before Christmas, because once again someone needs a gift “reeeally fast” and knows about my box... (laughs).
So for me, Christmas crocheting is a year-round thing.
