Dear users and authors,
how did things go from July through September?
How much yarn, fabric, or photo cardstock did you use?
How many projects did you finish?
How many new UFOs did you start?
Let me know.

Dear Josefa! It’s not that no one wants to reply to this thread, but we’re all still crunching the numbers :D

Okay, I’m done counting! I can’t give any details on material usage anymore — I’ve really lost track of that :D

My projects from July to September: 1 fairy house built with tile adhesive, 1 laptop bag crocheted, 4 concrete leaves made and painted, 1 children’s shirt crocheted, 1 doll crocheted, 4 budgies crocheted, 2 school cones (bag charms) crocheted, 1 handicraft bucket edged with crochet, 1 unicorn crocheted, 1 Pikachu crocheted, 1 VW bus tissue box cover crocheted, 1 concrete leaf made and painted, 1 concrete leaf bowl made (still needs to be painted), 1 cuddly little sheep crocheted, 1 pair of UFO socks finished. Ongoing project: knitting 1 winter sweater. UFOs: 0 (thanks to Josefa’s great motivation)

Hi,

so here’s what I finished:

1 vest for myself (about 700 gr. of yarn)
2 little lucky pigs for my daughters (about 50 gr. of yarn)
1 Halloween witch (about 600 gr. of yarn)
1 dragon (about 350 gr. of yarn)
2 small handbags (about 700 gr. of yarn)

Thank goodness no new UFOs cropped up.

Best regards, Heike

I’ve posted 10 projects here on CP. I’ve also made various things for friends and acquaintances—that’s always very time-consuming since it involves personal requests and ideas, but I don’t write patterns for those, as that would make the projects even more time-consuming. Sometimes that annoys me.

I have absolutely no way of estimating how much yarn I’ve used—I can only roughly tell what yarn I’ve worked with based on the many little balls of leftover yarn. I’m always very disorganized in that regard: once I’ve started a skein, the label ends up lying around on my desk for a while, then it gets thrown in the trash, and that’s when the guesswork begins.

I have 6 UFOs; my goal is to finish them one by one by the end of the year, because it’s such a shame to have all that time and material just lying around. I actually finished one UFO just yesterday, and I’m writing a pattern for it too.
Well, I’ll probably keep one or two—you can’t really do without them entirely—and I’ll likely add a few new ones. (But not until the new year.)

So much for my third quarter—the fourth one is starting soon. Have a great day, everyone! Best, Petra

Hi Josefa,
Things actually went pretty well for me. I was able to list a total of 10 new products and made a few sales as well.
In the process, I used about 1,700 grams of yarn—that’s 34 skeins.
Now I still have about 3 UFOs lying around, not to mention the ones I started before that. But despite it being summer, I’m pretty satisfied.

Unfortunately, I haven’t been very productive. Due to my sister’s serious, terminal illness (she passed away at the end of August), my life has been in disarray for the past six months. Now I’m feeling better again, and I’m slowly starting to get organized and work through things. I did a quick tally and realized that I actually haven’t done enough of anything—smile—so it’s time to “get to work.”
Have a wonderful day, everyone—the sun is shining here.

Best regards,
Jana

I can’t say how much yarn I used. But probably not that much, because in summer I prefer making smaller things. The material-intensive projects are only just starting again now.

What I finished:
3 octopuses,
3 fish
8 mushrooms
2 tarantulas (my son still scares visitors with them....)
2 door wreaths
car seat covers for my husband’s car
1 car seat cover for my car (the 2nd one is a UFO because I ran out of yarn)
huge amounts of little jars crocheted around for tea lights

Started UFOs
a triangular shawl for my friend,
Christmas tree decorations
a cuddly blanket for my daughter,
a blanket for my son (who now says he’d actually rather have another spider - only this time a hairy one)

At first I thought, I haven’t actually made that much. But once you start writing, it turns into a huge list after all.

“Went well” doesn’t really apply to me — “crawled along” describes it better.

During that time, I finished 6 items:

  • Spool-knitted necklace
  • Crocheted hat
  • Handbag
  • Empty toilet paper roll covered in crochet (Halloween surprise)
  • Knitted cape
  • Crocheted triangular shawl "Ice Princess"

I don’t know how much yarn I ended up using for everything combined.

UFOs:

  • a “Sophie” — it’s anyone’s guess whether I’ll ever continue working on it
  • A crocheted tablecloth that’s supposed to consist of several granny squares of different sizes.

My sincere condolences on the passing of your sister, Jana. You don’t have to knit all the time—some things are more important. Take care of yourself!

To answer the question about material usage, my research shows that from July until now, I’ve knitted or crocheted 5,718 meters of yarn.

Dear Jana,

my sincere condolences as well!
Consider yourself lovingly hugged!

As for yarn usage...
I've crocheted through masses of it :)
Let me try to put everything together...
-former UFO pants for the littlest one
- 3 dresses for the second-littlest one (patterns are still pending, of course...)
- 4 little gnome hats, including 1x in partner look for the second-littlest one and her favorite doll
- 3 more hats, for which a pattern still wants to be written, too
- jacket for the littlest one to match the gnome hat from the product photo (she's wearing the jacket there too, pattern as above)
- 2 pairs of yoga socks
- 2 soul warmers finished, 1 not quite yet (but not a UFO, currently in progress, as is the pattern for it)
- 2 Elfenwald vests
- 1 long vest
- 1 shirt (just waiting for product photos)
- 2 favorite sweaters
- 8 of 24 for a new Advent calendar pattern
- 2 custom hats for a young woman with Down syndrome
- 1 started poncho (also in progress and not a UFO)
- 1 little doll (unfortunately currently a UFO - yarn is missing and first has to be found in the moving boxes in the basement)
- 1 St. Nicholas stocking
....hmmmm....3 months is a lot of time...I made even more, but I can't remember everything...
In any case, it was quite a few yards of yarn ;)
