I had a doctor’s appointment and was able to keep working diligently on “Opa Karlchen
” in the waiting room and later at the train station. It’s going to be a 65th birthday gift, and of course, I didn’t think of it until just a week before.
Now I have to get a move on.
Wishing you and everyone a wonderful day.
Best regards, Marlies.
This morning I worked on the little bat. Then I immediately looked for the next needle sizes for the bigger bats.
After that, I continued writing up the patterns. The pieces aren’t finished yet, but I’ll write up what I have right away, then I’ll see if I’ve taken enough detailed photos.
I took advantage of the little ones’ nap and crocheted 3/4 of the second sleeve of my new sweater...now I’m hoping the kids will play peacefully later so I can finish it...then I’ll just have to weave in the ends (only 5 :) ) and then I can wear the sweater *hurray*—it’s cool enough out today...
My thread for today :-)
Maybe I’ll get some sympathy, because I’m currently working on a baby jacket that was SUPPOSED to be sooooo easy, and I’ve just had to unravel it for about the 8th time (at least 1/3 of it) *boo-hoo*
I can’t even stand the sight of this yarn anymore! If it’s not finished by tomorrow, I’m going to toss it in the corner and just crochet bunnies from now on :-))))) In bright colors :-)
@ Schneckenkind
Oh dear, that sounds familiar, but take heart: it worked out for me in the end, and you’ll manage it too.
Sometimes you just need a chance to vent...wink.
That sounds very familiar to me, and in the end the piece did get finished after all^^. It was actually such an easy pattern that I kept getting myself tangled up.
Today it was autumn crochet again, after I finished Advent—um, except for writing the pattern. Somehow that just doesn’t fit into the schedule at all right now. Of course, it might be because we have construction going on again and the vacation for the youngest is definitely too long. So please send a little sympathy my way too, or a boost of motivation—whichever you happen to have to spare right now.
In cases like that, I usually set the project aside for 1–2 days. Most of the time, it works out again after that. Because when you’re frustrated, you end up making twice as many mistakes. In the meantime, either don’t do any crafting at all or work on something completely different that’s quick to finish (otherwise you run the risk of ending up with two new UFOs ;-) )
@ Sabine
"Today it was autumn crochet again, now that I've finished the Advent things." That's how it goes for me too. I often have things on the go that could really wait, but that I'd rather make anyway ... shame on me. Then afterwards I have to step it up a notch, and it still works out.
Maybe that'll give you a little boost of motivation ...
Today I can pass on a kick in the butt as a motivational boost :-)))
The basic framework is finally in place (I didn’t even get tangled up, but those measurements!!!!) - it took forever before everything was finally the way it was supposed to be!
So I’m passing my bag of motivation and/or sympathy straight on to anyone who needs it ♥
I’m currently crocheting a door wreath for a Kawasaki fan who just bought a house and wants to decorate his door with it.
Now that I’ve finally found that bright green yarn, I’m trying my hand at crocheting a tire tread pattern :)
It’s definitely a challenge.
I was very busy yesterday. I sewed four diaper bags as a farewell gift for my prenatal class, then I sewed a little snail (I think there’s a clinic in Hanover that fits hearing implants, and every child who gets one receives a crocheted snail. That’s a great way to use up scraps).
Today I started on a baby jacket. A little while ago, a friend and I made a plaster cast of my belly. I’m going to do a little sewing in a bit.
@Arni
I’ll keep that in mind—when the time comes, I’ll send
you a photo. Regarding your post about the hearing implants, I think they’re done at the MHH. When I was in the ENT ward myself, I heard a bit about it there—it’s super interesting.
@dievomdeich,
Marlies, yesterday I got the motivation boost for my friend’s vests and got started right away — knitting again for a change. And while I was sitting there knitting away all relaxed, I looked over at my autumn thingy and thought to myself: Really leave it like that??? — I’ll have another look tomorrow. Today I like it again. I think I’ll knit a little more and decide whether this thing stays like that or not. My family isn’t any help with the decision this time either ^^
This morning I tried out some patterns for a child’s sock—a commission for one of my sister’s granddaughters. The blue-and-brown yarn creates stripes, but plain stockinette stitch is too boring for me. It’ll probably end up being a coffee bean pattern, but unfortunately I won’t have time to knit or do any other crafts today: We’re having a neighborhood party (luckily indoors, given this rainy, chilly weather!).
For one of my granddaughters’ birthdays, I once again gave her a few little dolls as a gift. Now I’m working on a little sweater. Even though I should really be writing a few patterns once the pieces are finished.
This afternoon, I was busy crocheting single crochet stitches onto foundation chains for the third graders—the first two rows are still too difficult for the crochet beginners. This morning, while waiting for the doctor, I crocheted a few bumps onto the massage glove, but later unraveled them because I misjudged the size! (That’s what happens when you think you know better than the author!)
