Hello everyone,

I’ve been selling my patterns on CP for 6 weeks now and have recently been
reading along here in the forum. Now it’s time to briefly
introduce myself.
My name is Elke and I live near Munich with my two teenage kids, two
indoor cats, and two guinea pigs. A few
months ago I discovered CP and was totally fascinated by the
opportunity to sell patterns here. My passion
used to be jewelry design (I’ve also published a few creative books
about that), but in recent years I’ve become more and more
captivated by crochet and its endless design possibilities. Even as a
child I crocheted, knitted, and crafted a lot.
I think it’s so great that this platform exists, making it possible
to earn a little extra money with your passion and from home.
I also find the way the authors interact with each other here in the
forum very friendly and fair—it really makes you want to
join in!

Best wishes and have lots of fun continuing with needlework, crafting, etc.
Elke

Hello Elke,

welcome ;-)

Yes, a woman can really feel at home here...
By way of introduction, a little about me:
I’m almost 50 years old, and back in the mists of time I wanted to become a needlework teacher, but as it sometimes happens, life seems to have had other plans for me. I’m a mother of six, with 2 stepchildren, I live in Austria, and I also have a “mini-farm,” as my 5-year-old calls it (with rabbits, chickens, quails, cats, various birds, and a vegetable garden)

Best wishes, Sabine

Dear Sabine,
thank you very much for your reply. I passed the 50 mark this year, and at one time my dream job was to become a needlework teacher. Wow, with 6 kids and a mini-farm, you’ve got your hands full! How do you still find time for your wonderful shop—you have such super-cute things. And I always think I’m the one who’s stressed... Yes, life had other plans for me too, but I find it fascinating that the passion never lets go of you and that somehow, one way or another, you find your way back to it.

All the best
Elke

Hi Elke,

That’s what a lot of people wonder—and sometimes I do too ;-)
 I can’t live without my needles—yes, it’s definitely highly addictive ;-)
I’m just lucky to have a study that’s right in the middle of the house, so the whole family ends up gathering there anyway… usually one by one, sometimes all at once. So I can work and still be right in the middle of everything… and I can return the compliment.

Best wishes, Sabine

Hi Elke,
I’d also like to give you a warm welcome among us craft addicts :-). I’ve already admired your beautiful creations.
I’m also the mother of a 16-year-old “lobster” (I call him that because he only comes out of his dark cave to eat ... lol)
Wishing you lots of success here. Best regards, Claudia

Hi Elke,

Nice to get to know you a little.

My name is Nina, I have 4 kids (15f, 8m, 2 1/2f and 5 months f)...plus a house we just moved into, where I also get a nice big workroom for myself under the roof (still being finished), 4 budgies, 1 pug, 2 dwarf rabbits, and in 7 weeks a little kitten.
Crocheting (and other crafts) is relaxation for me, too. And it’s all the nicer to be able to earn a little pocket money with it as well.

Best, Nina

Dear Elke,

a warm welcome to everyone who’s hooked on needlecrafts.

I’m 40, a mom of two kids, and I have a wonderful husband and a little Beagle mix.
I work full-time, and crocheting is my way of relaxing and unwinding in the evening.

Warmest regards
Dagmar

Hi Elke,
welcome, and best of luck with CP.
I’m 54 years young and absolutely love knitting baby clothes.
Thanks to CP, crafting is even more fun, and
as you already mentioned, everyone here is super nice and
always willing to help each other out.

Best regards

Hi Elke, and a warm welcome to CP.

I’m Michaela, and I’ve been designing knitting and crochet patterns for 3 years now.
I’ve been with CP for 2 years and have recently become exclusive.

I’m 44 years old, have a husband and a sweet female Havanese dog. When I’m not knitting and/or crocheting, I’m passionate about photography.

I wish you every success.

Best regards
Michaela

Oh... I’m 38 and, in addition to the kids, pets, house, etc., I also have a (part-time) day job and, last but not least, a wonderful husband ;)

Hi Elke, I’m Carola, I’m 49 years old, married, and have two children (15 years old/boy and 23 years old/girl, or rather young woman). I can’t imagine my life without a crochet hook and yarn anymore either :)
You’re over 50? Is your profile picture current????? If so, hats off to you. Then you’ve aged incredibly well and look very young :D

@ Claudia: I think the lobster is absolutely brilliant. It reminds me a lot of my son :D

Best, Carola

Hello Elke,

A warm welcome to CP. I think your introduction is great. I could have come up with that idea myself, since I haven’t been here very long either.

So here are a few words about me. I’m 56 years old and live in a wonderful home with my three cats and the best husband in the world. After having cancer, I’m now unemployed due to being unable to work and have discovered crocheting as a “new hobby” for myself.

Wishing you lots of success on CP

Best regards, Petra

Hi Elke,

welcome!

I’m 48, have an adult daughter (28), and a 3-year-old grandson.
My area here is crafts (preferably paper crafts), and I’m especially happy that you also have craft patterns in your repertoire—this area is still very underrepresented here :-).

I wish you every success on crazypatterns.

Best regards, Inna

Hi Elke,

a warm welcome from me, too, of course.

I’m 48 and live in the Karlsruhe district with my husband, my two kids (18-year-old daughter, 14-year-old son), 2 cats, 1 guinea pig, 1 rabbit, and a budgie.

I rediscovered crafts and DIY when my son was 1 year old. Because of his short stature—which he “inherited” from me—he needed a lot of care (speech therapy and physical therapy) during his early years, so going back to a “real job” was out of the question. I designed my first window decorations myself (2003), which were later published in craft magazines. I did this for a few years and then added crocheting to my repertoire. I offer the patterns for these projects for sale here on cp—and every now and then, I get to publish them in a crochet magazine as well.

I hope you have a great time here with us and that you never run out of ideas ;-)

Hi Elke,

I stumbled upon CP about two years ago and have only recently
started posting in the forum.

My name is Heike, I’m 39 years old, and I have two sweet daughters (10 and 8), a wonderful husband, and
two mini pigs (we had to put our third one to sleep four weeks ago) :-(
We all live together in the most beautiful state in the world—the Saarland.

I’ve been hooked on crocheting for 5 years. Crocheting helps me unwind really well in the evenings after my
full-time job in administration and the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

I hope you have a great time here.

Best regards
Heike

Hello again, everyone,
Thank you so much for all your kind and heartfelt comments. Claudia, I had to laugh so hard at your “lobster” — it fits just sooo well! And I’m glad you like my creations — yours are also beautiful and funny. Nina, how does one — or rather, a woman — manage to do it all? That’s just amazing! Dear Carola, thank you so much for the compliment. Unfortunately, my profile picture isn’t quite up to date anymore (it’s actually five years old — it feels like I just took it recently — where does the time go?). I’ll post a new, more recent one soon. Somehow I only have photos of children, animals, and finished pieces; since I’m the one who takes the pictures in our household, I don’t have a recent photo of myself (except for selfies). Dear Petra (sternje), I’m so glad you discovered crocheting during a difficult time — and by the way, you were the very first person to leave such a lovely comment on one of my patterns when I started in mid-April. Thank you so much for that. A big thank you to all of you for your warm welcome and well-wishes. I wish you continued success with your wonderful creations and am really looking forward to exchanging ideas with you!

Warm regards
Elke

Dear Elke

I think your idea of introducing yourself is great: when you can get to know the authors a little this way, recreating their projects is even more enjoyable!
I stumbled upon CP a little over a year ago, and I look forward to new posts every day. I’ve been doing needlework since my (very distant school days)—sometimes more intensively, sometimes less. But with CP, knitting and crocheting have almost become an addiction—there are so many great patterns! Every now and then I also post a picture in the gallery and am always amazed by all the wonderful creations people make!

Hello Elke :-)

A warm welcome to our circle!

My name is Heike, I'm 42 years old, I have a 16-year-old son <3
and I work for my better half in one of his cinemas!
I discovered crocheting for myself a few years ago!
Before that, like unfortunately many people still do, I thought it was something for grannies,
but thank goodness I was proved wrong! :-)
Crocheting does me good, I can switch off, and I'm always delighted all over again when I've finished something lovely (in my eyes)! :-)
Best wishes, Heike

P.S. Claudia, the lobster is brilliant, I've already passed it on to my son :-D

Hello dear Elke ;-)

Welcome to our group!

A quick introduction: I’m 37 years old (I always have to think about that one), and I have three wonderful men in my life—my 11-year-old son Fabian, my husband Mario, and our Labrador Louis.

I grew up in Italy and live in Austria.

Knitting has always been my passion—and every now and then, the crochet hook and I are friends, too!

I do this part-time, even though it doesn’t feel like a “job”!

I wish you lots of success and, above all, lots of fun! And if you have any questions—you know where to find us and the CP team!

All the best,
Kathrin

Welcome, Elke :)

I’ve been part of this community since the end of February this year.
But it’s never too late for an introduction.

This summer I’ll reach the next double-number birthday — I’ll turn 55.

For years now, I’ve been living alone with my daughter, who is now an adult.
In February, she fulfilled one of her dreams and became an independent author.
My username here is also the name of my own publishing imprint.

I’ve been crocheting and knitting — on and off — since I was 10 years old.
I’d been thinking about “putting my ideas on paper” for quite some time. But I only took the plunge relatively recently.

My hobby is also meant to become my main source of income.
Just as writing stories is for my daughter.

I wish everyone continued enjoyment and the kind of respectful community spirit that prevails here.
