Hi everyone,

so I was searching Google for great crochet patterns and
that’s how I found CP.

Ever since I discovered this site, I’ve been stopping by very often and am
always happy when my favorite authors post new patterns
.

I love the variety of patterns as well as how helpful the
authors are when something doesn’t work out quite as it should.

Keep it up.

Best wishes, Heike, who’s sitting at work and can’t wait to get home
to keep crocheting her sweater

I think it was on Pinterest where I saw a pattern at some point—Crazypatterns. “What on earth is that?” I thought to myself, and followed the link. And just like that, I was here :-)

For me, it was Google!
I simply typed in “buy knitting patterns” because I wanted to knit something a bit different from my usual style, and I don’t always know everything or how to do everything.
I was already familiar with other platforms, and the well-known publishers often reprint the same patterns in their magazines and books years later. I wanted something new—and I found it.

It’s been a while, but Uncle Google definitely helped me find it. ;-)

Back then, I was looking for ways to distribute my patterns and came across this platform—and I haven’t regretted it for a second. ^^

I found it through Google, too. No matter what I typed in under “crochet,” Crazypatterns was always right at the top of the results.
And once I was here, I couldn’t tear myself away.

Okay, I’ll let you in on a secret.
I’ve set up sticky traps all over the place here for craft enthusiasts. It works just like those sticky traps for insects—but instead of killing you, it makes life more beautiful, adds color to your everyday routine, helps you relieve stress and find relaxation, and provides you with a fresh supply of new patterns every day—or even several times a day.
So now you know that too, even though it was always a secret.
Shhh. You didn’t hear a thing, and I didn’t say a word. :-)

I’ve fallen into exactly this kind of trap too, and I just can’t seem to break free from it (but I don’t want to anyway!!!)
So for me, it was also Google that led me to CP while I was searching for great crochet patterns, and now I’m sticking around too!!!

I was looking for a sales platform with terms and conditions that I liked.
I also wanted the process to be straightforward.

On some other sites, I couldn’t figure out at all what the terms were for selling there.

So I headed straight for your bait, Josefa :)

So it’s Josefa’s fault ;-)

Finally, I have an excuse^^

For me, it was Google’s fault, too—I was browsing around and reading through some of the information about registration and payment methods, and I ended up sticking with CP.

I got caught by the sticky trap on Google too.
I was looking for simple crochet patterns because I only started crocheting at the beginning of last year. At first, I tried out some free patterns, and then I got hooked—I became a buyer, and crocheting became my new passion.
At some point, a hidden sticky trap pulled me into seller mode, and now I’m stuck here.

Best regards, Petra

I, too, was specifically looking for a way to sell my patterns. The first time I came across CP (I think it was in 2013), I left because the crafting section was barely active back then, and I didn’t feel like my patterns would fit in there. Two years later, things didn’t look much different, but I was a little braver and posted a few patterns to test the waters. And that was a very smart decision :-).

I also found my way here for the first time in January 2016 or so via Google. I was looking for a pattern for slippers—crocheted Chucks, I think. I signed up right away, paid, downloaded it, and never actually crocheted them *lol* After that, I didn’t give crafts another thought.
That summer, I kept getting suggestions for Crazypatterns posts on Facebook. At some point, I felt like trying my hand at crocheting (I used to knit a lot, but never crocheted), so I reactivated my account and quickly found something. After a bit of a false start due to merciless overconfidence (hurray, my first UFO), I’m currently crocheting like crazy on a jacket. It’s described as beginner-friendly, is super well explained, and I’m having no problems—as long as I don’t think about sewing it together yet; my imagination can’t quite keep up with that part just yet.
So, via Google and Facebook.

Best regards
Michaela

==> Well, not me—I want to work on my brand-new project first. My UFO is only on pattern row 3 ... that could take a while!

Well, what can I say—Josefa’s trap worked on me, too. ;-)
I actually ended up here via Google and was really surprised by everything there is to discover here.

What impressed me most was that patterns by independent authors are sold here. Because I didn’t like the usual brief patterns I’d found everywhere else at all. Sometimes I couldn’t even figure them out.

What a joy it was when I tried out the first free pattern here. Everything was explained step by step, and even with photos. I was absolutely thrilled.

And as is often the case with yarn addicts, I couldn’t hold back and bought… and bought. Of all those purchases, I’ve only actually made a very small fraction so far. Everything is sitting nice and neat on my computer.

Because… it suddenly occurred to me that I could write these kinds of patterns myself. It’s just a shame that I didn’t start until March. Because from November 2016 until then, I’d brought a lot of ideas to life and turned them into knitted items for my 6-month-old granddaughter.

I have to say, I’m really happy to have ended up here. I absolutely love bringing my crochet and knitting ideas to life and sharing them here in detailed patterns.

And what I really appreciate is the truly helpful and wonderful atmosphere here in the forum. Someone from the CP team is always there when needed. I especially enjoy Josefa’s posts. She does an incredible amount for us here.

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all the authors and the entire CP team! :-) It’s great to have you all here!

Warm regards
Monika

For me, it was Google, too. I don’t remember exactly what I was searching for, but suddenly I was here.
What I really liked: This is a great, well-organized site where different authors showcase and sell their work—something I’ve sometimes missed on other sites!
I also liked the fact that there’s this awesome forum here.

Well, ever since then, I’ve not only been hooked on my (crochet!!) hook, but I’ve also been stuck here and visit every day :)

I was looking for sticky traps and ended up here :D

Since I was here anyway, I thought to myself: well, I might as well crochet something too...
Actually, it was the other way around: I was looking for amigurumi and found CP very clear and varied on my smartphone. Of course I browsed other sites too, but I like it best here! Nice people, always great new patterns, and help whenever I need it.
Thanks to the great community and all the help, I also felt like seeing what it’s like to be an author.
Well - here I am, and here I’ll stay too - in the end, the sticky trap served its purpose!

If I remember correctly, my relationship with Cp started with a purchase at a newsstand, namely with an issue of Simply Crochet: Several articles had links to Crazy Patterns, which made me curious… well, and that’s how I ended up sticking around, and I’ve never regretted it: There are sooo many great things here, and most of them are explained really well and have beautiful photos—thank you, thank you!

Does this count too (at least a little bit!): The first pot holder (of a pair), which has been languishing in the basket for months, has just been finished—I just need to weave in the ends. I had to buy more yarn for the second one, so unfortunately it won’t be done by the end of the week.
Nina, the little one looks so cute in her pretty UFO shorts!

@ChristinaE,
you’ve posted in the wrong thread. Unfortunately, I can’t move individual posts—only entire threads—so please post this again in the other thread.

Hi there!
In my case, it was customers who came into my store with printed CP patterns and bought the right yarn for their projects. I just had to Google it… and bam—I was hooked :-)
Best regards, Traudelina

@Michaela: That’s great that you’ve rediscovered the joy of crocheting, and I wish you the best of luck with the jacket :-)

I found my way to CP through a customer. Before that, I only sold finished items—at markets and through another online platform. When I made a scarf that I’d actually knitted just for myself, people kept asking me for a pattern, so I thought, “Well, why not write it down?”
So I knitted it two more times to write it down and double-check it. Then I offered it as a knitting kit with yarn and pattern. A customer then told me about CP during a conversation.

After writing that first pattern more or less by chance, I got into it and ended up writing more. I myself never worked from patterns; I always just went with the flow, using trial and error. That’s because the patterns in magazines and books were too tedious for me, and I always thought it was silly to see just one picture—I’d rather see the piece from all angles. I did buy a lot of magazines, but mostly just for the knitting charts of the patterns, as inspiration.

Then I wanted to crochet something for my niece’s baby and remembered CP again. And the pattern for the baby booties was so well explained that I actually crocheted smoothly from it :-)
Now I was convinced that patterns really are a great thing. Since I was already looking for a new creative outlet anyway, I posted my first patterns here and was eager to write more.

I love how smoothly everything works here, the friendly and drama-free atmosphere (I’ve had a veeeery different experience on other platforms), and especially Josefa’s wonderful moderation of the forum. And that’s how I discovered my new passion: writing patterns.
After my attempt to run my own shop with a friend didn’t work out, CP came along right when I was feeling so sad about the shop closing. Now I’m happy here and still get incredibly excited about every sale and every interaction with a customer.

Love, Caro
