My yarn stash is still doing great—it’s thriving—but I’m working on it! I’m currently working on a crochet shawl.

Hi everyone,

most of my yarn stash is currently in moving boxes in the basement until the attic study is finished...so right now I’m very prone to the dreaded “spring yarn fever” ;)

Since my time is still largely taken up by the new house and, of course, the kids, I don’t get around to bringing so many ideas to life...so I’m sticking to small projects...
I’m currently working on flowers *laughs*

By the way, Pentecost was lovely—we finally took a day to visit the zoo again.

I’ve started a big project (a tablecloth) made up of several different large mandalas.

The pattern is taking shape round by round in my head.
That means I don’t even know yet what the tablecloth will look like in the end.

Since the yarn cake is huge—about 4,000 m—I’m going to start something small to work on while I’m on the go.

My yarn stash is slowly dwindling. And right now, I’m really working on a UFO. The blanket has been sitting around for 18 months, waiting for a nice border. And, of course, there are still lots of loose ends that need to be woven in.
But this time, I’m sticking with it—hopefully.

Pentecost was lovely—the weather cooperated, so we really put the grill to work.
My yarn stash keeps growing, even though I’m constantly trying to stop it. Nothing’s really going right for me at the moment, which is why I have quite a few UFOs right now. My main project is still the color challenge. But I’ll be done with it soon. As always, the hardest part comes at the end.

Right now, I’m knitting a blanket made up of lots of individual hexagons. That’s helping my yarn stash dwindle very slowly.
My UFOs just aren’t getting any smaller, though, because I’m also working on a few summer sweaters on the side. But that’s also because there are so many great patterns here. You just have to buy one every now and then.☺☺☺

I’m currently working on another bag using my favorite stitch… and the mountains of yarn aren’t really getting any smaller.

I’m currently crocheting a music box shaped like a car. I’ve now crocheted the music box mechanism into it, which is making the crocheting a bit annoying right now.
Actually, I didn’t want to buy any more yarn, but then I still needed another color for the car ... well, I’m not going to order just one skein, that doesn’t make sense. So it ended up being 17. :-)))))

I’m currently crocheting a shopping net for myself. The UFOs will just have to wait...

And that “spring yarn” thing is terrible for me ;-)—because I have everything available in the store! That’s why I suffer from “UFO-ritis” ;-))))))

My yarn stash has grown...

But I’ve finally finished the shawl for my son’s teacher. He’s changing schools and picked out something very special for his favorite teacher.
Now I have time to try out a few patterns and work out the calculations.

And I’ve gotten back to work on the long-term project for my daughter. The blanket gets a little bigger every day, but the pattern is very intricate, and it’ll be a long time before it’s really finished.

Pe-ka: Why don’t you post a photo of the blanket and the pattern here? I’m curious :-) 

I’ll do that—I’ll take a picture of the piece I already have.
But I think I described it a bit clumsily. The idea is to crochet a picture into the blanket—one that my daughter drew.
She’s crazy about horses and drew a horse in a pasture. I transferred that into Excel and am now making her a blanket out of it. I just kind of underestimated all the dimensions. But my little one is really excited that it’s going to be a huge blanket.

Oh yeah, that sounds like a lot of work. But it’s great

Yesterday I took some photos of what I’ve already got. The picture in the back shows just 1/4 of the whole project.
I’m now realizing just how big a project I’ve taken on, and I’m afraid the kilo of yarn I bought for it won’t quite be enough.
But my daughter beams at me every time I work on it and asks when it’ll finally be done.
I told her I’ll try to finish it by Christmas. I can’t work on it nonstop—every now and then I have to do something else in between.

Yes, dear Heike.

I hadn’t even heard of this technique before Crazypatterns. Josefa introduced it once, and I fell in love with it right away.
By the way, a big THANK YOU to Josefa for always bringing new topics to the forum—I learn something new every day and always try things out to see if they’re right for me.

The blanket already looks amazing. It’s obvious you can’t work on it all the time. I hope you’ll post progress updates here every now and then.

I haven’t dared to try the C2C technique yet. But seeing this makes me want to give it a shot. ...
I wish you all a wonderful day—the sun’s coming out here. I have the day off today, and here there’s a battle raging right now
between housework and crocheting.

Getting started with the C2C technique is a bit tricky, but once you get the hang of it, it goes very quickly.

Crocheting won out for me yesterday, too. I went outside with the kids and tried out a new pattern again. It’s just too warm for me to be crocheting that blanket out in the garden right now.
Housework will have to wait until it rains again.....

Pe-Ka, my dear, I have so much respect for you. That blanket is going to make your daughter so happy! ☺

I’m working on a pattern for a crochet skirt.
The skirt is finished for now—I’m going to have a friend try it on first, since I can’t really model it with my figure. Then we’ll see.

In the meantime, I’m knitting wrist warmers—winter is coming... gg

Since I just found out that a friend of my husband’s is staying over here tomorrow, I actually put away my crochet things. But my motivation to tidy up and clean is pretty limited (as you can tell, since I have time to write :-()

I’ve got several things in the works again. I actually always try to avoid that, but it just doesn’t work out. Today I’m going to upload my paper doll dresses—they’re finally finished! Now I can focus more on another main project: I’m tinkering with a paper door wreath that’s supposed to be really easy to make. The model for the color challenge is also coming along on the side. Plus, gift wrapping shaped like a little house. And a shelf sitter. And a bouquet of flowers. And gift wrapping that doesn’t require glue. And all of that on top of a few personal projects: weaving a basket, knitting yoga socks, sewing shorts...

The baby cardigan and booties (for two different babies) have been mailed—phew! Since there are several birthdays coming up soon, I’m back to crocheting shopping nets—when I’m not unraveling what I’ve already worked on because I suddenly like another idea better! I’m still missing that brilliant idea for the two boys (6 and 7)—in any case, it has to be something small that can be finished quickly. The crocheted shawl made from sock yarn is on hold for now, since a huge amount of weeds are sprouting in our garden that need to be pulled, on top of all the other obligations!
