I’m working on a poncho using the Tunisian crochet technique, combining two patterns. Since I usually crochet decorative items, this is a real challenge for me.
I tried to sew my baby blanket together with a fleece blanket. Well, it didn’t turn out so great. Oh well, I’ll have to give it another go. It doesn’t look good. Right now, it’s just lying in the corner. Now I’m annoyed and thinking about what my next project will be.
Oh, Sandra, I totally get that! I just knitted 4 rows of 216 stitches each on my blanket and only then realized that I’d started on the wrong row—and the two before that were wrong, too. Now I have to rip back a total of 6 rows, and I’ve only managed 3 so far. My blanket is just lying in the corner right now, and I’m frustrated....
Yeah, that’s really annoying.
But actually, it was just a practice blanket. I only crocheted it so I could practice sewing. Now I’m thinking about whether I should use a colorful crocheted blanket instead of a fleece blanket for the actual baby blanket. The only problem is that I don’t know what it’s going to be, so I can’t get started on it yet. Or maybe I’ll crochet two blankets to go underneath. So many questions :-)
Sanda, why don’t you make your blanket in a neutral color that works for both girls and boys? There are so many pretty colors out there.
I crocheted a little horse today. This afternoon we were at the orchard and first had to get rid of countless rotten apples so we could then pick up the rest. Now I’m dead tired.
That’s still going to take a while. The baby’s due in December, and the name will go on it then. So you’ll have to be patient until the end of December. :-)
I HOPE I’ll be able to continue working on my bag (the elephant bag by Otterthaler_Haekelmaus :)) later, because it needs to be finished soon—it’s going to be a birthday present. (If necessary, it’ll be a Christmas present.)
I’ll keep knitting later—right now, my child comes first (I’m just waiting to quiz them on their French vocabulary), and the washing machine only needs a few more minutes... But the late afternoon and evening definitely belong to my knitting needles.
It’s my mother-in-law’s birthday today. We went out for a delicious meal and just got home. My husband is lying down, and I’m crocheting. I’m taking a break from the blanket right now (I’m still waiting for the green yarn, and I don’t feel like sewing the other one together). Now I’m crocheting a door wreath for Anton.
My husband got me the Styrofoam wreath. Then I told him it was going to be a door wreath for us. He gave me such a horrified look. That was wonderful.
He was very relieved when he found out the wreath was only for Anton’s bedroom door.
I also got some fresh plums yesterday and am going to bake a cake with them this weekend. I won’t be able to eat it myself, but everyone else is already looking forward to it.
My sweetheart unexpectedly had to take some time off, so we spontaneously drove to the coast in Holland... After a really nice, long walk on the beach to the neighboring town (about 12 KM round trip, 4 hours including a coffee break and collecting seashells), we just made it back to the beach in time for dinner and watched the sunset. OK... in the end, it disappeared behind the clouds... We had a delicious sesame-crusted tuna fillet with tomato salsa served over steamed vegetables with a balsamic vinaigrette and little roasted potatoes... followed by vanilla cream with white chocolate ice cream... and to top it off, a delicious jenever. Now I’m dead tired, very full, and happy to be back in my hotel room. Good night, everyone.
