Sofi’s World: Congratulations on passing your school-leaving exams.
Thanks for your well-wishes. The dancing went well, but everything around it was chaos. First, the start was delayed a lot, there was no one there who knew how to operate the sound system, and the chairwoman was nowhere to be seen. I could have saved myself the emcee’s script, too. They ended up saying something completely different. Nah, that only makes it partly fun.
Now I’m going to get right to crocheting. Five dancing mice and an elephant are waiting for me.
Finally, some positive news about my arm and shoulder: the biggest restriction has been released.
Now the treatment is going deeper, which is very painful, but that’s something I’m willing to put up with.
Until I’m allowed to pick up my crochet hook again, I’m enjoying your photos and stories.
Hi Heike,
even though it’s hard, you’d better cut back a bit on crocheting.
I’ve noticed that things have gotten worse after my allotted half hour a day.
It’s not easy, but I know from my own experience that it’s possible.
Best regards, Marlies
I’m a craftsman’s daughter and grew up on a farm. That pretty much meant that as a woman, I learned from an early age how to pitch in. I got an “all-round education” there.
Back then, it was more of a nuisance, and I wanted to sell my dad… grin, but today I really enjoy DIY and even tile my mother’s kitchen from time to time.
For this spring, painting radiators, ceilings, and doors is on the agenda. I had to put that on hold because of my shoulder and arm problems (as unfortunately happened with quite a few planned needlework projects too).
A little one has come into your lives,
completely helpless, delicate, and still so small.
You should give him your love
and be his support in life.
And if he ever causes you worry,
you’ll forget it all very quickly.
When your little treasure smiles at you in the morning,
the gray clouds will brighten again.
I wish your little treasure,
no matter which way the wind blows,
that there will always be room for a friend
to stand faithfully by his side.
Dear CP Team,
that was a great idea! Now I don’t have to head into the weekend loaded down with papers or a USB drive/CD—I can just use the computer there when I want to crochet or simply show off a future project. THANK YOU!
Wishing you and all readers a wonderful Sunday.
Best regards, Marlies.
My PiAs seem to be multiplying in the box. Maybe I should pack them separately...
My apartment is currently being plagued by a “mouse infestation”... lol.
For my dance group’s 30th anniversary, I crocheted dance mice as personal gifts for the two “original members.”
When I showed them, the response was, “Oh, how cuuute. I’d like one too...” So now there are dance mice for birthdays.
Oh dear, those early days… The chaos started in elementary school:
my pot holders had a rather indescribable shape. Since they were also crocheted way too tightly, I couldn’t even unravel them. Man, was I proud when you could finally “make out” the first piece as a pot holder…
When it came to sewing, I went through a lot of needles, since after 4–5 cm at most—usually after a very “wavy” seam—it would go “snap” again. It’s actually a shame, because I’d really love to be able to sew (with my machine). By hand, it goes pretty well, and I’ve already sewn many meters of curtains and drapes. Of course, it takes a long time.
These days, knitting is going well. I once knitted a great cable pattern sweater for my ex. Back then, I always ended up with cool lace patterns, though they weren’t intentional. My Barbie got lots of knitted clothes. They were so tight, though, that I had to cut them open to get them off.
I was doing fine...before I went to the seniors’ afternoon.
I was asked if I could fill “a little gap” during the May sing-along with a funny story.
Sure, I can. BUT: nobody had told me that the “little gap” was actually a whole hour…
You can imagine that it wasn’t really funny.
The flute group then put the icing on the cake of all the chaos. They played so high-pitched and so slowly that hardly anyone could sing along. Somehow, everyone there was relieved when the afternoon ended half an hour earlier than planned…
I still have that awful squeaking in my ears.
The only good thing was that one of my fellow dancers was thrilled with her crocheted dance mouse.
