Actually, I didn’t really want to...

...but then I just couldn't resist.

       This is my Amelie.

She’s a little smaller than expected—only 40 cm tall. That’s why the outfit I knitted ahead of time didn’t fit. In the meantime, she’s gotten a sweater.

Pants are really tricky because my little one has a “sitting bottom,” and I’ve already failed three times trying to make them fit.

Does any doll mom have a tip for me? I’m feeling a bit desperate right now.

Have a lovely Sunday evening.
Best wishes
Marlies

Check out preemie baby clothes; you might find something there.
Your Amelie is so cute :-)))

Oh, how cute—and she even has hair! She’s dressed so nicely. It’s almost enough to make me want another one, but my two are already in their doll stroller—that’s enough for me. If I had more space, I’d buy an Amelie like that, too.
Have fun with her!

Love, Andrea

Your sweater turned out super cute.

I once knitted a pair of pants for my grandson using shortened rows, and the diaper pack fit in there just fine.
Maybe that’s an idea for your Amelie.

The “problem” doll now has pants.

However, they look a bit strange. I’ve never had a “sitting-type” child like this before.
Pants knitted according to the patterns don’t fit at the back/bottom because they’re too short; on the legs, they’re a bit short in the front but too long in the back.

I hope you can understand my problem.

It works with the insert in the back, but it’s far from pretty...
My little one will probably end up being a “dress kid,” unfortunately.

Best regards, Marlies

What if you just make the pants like a sock, with a “heel” for the flat bottom?

Hello Marlies,
Your Amelie is pretty.
Does she have a soft sitting bottom, or is it hard?

My little Mäxchen has a soft fabric sitting bottom. A normally knitted pair of pants actually fits him; only the waist is quite high.
The pattern is stretchy, knit 2, purl 1.

Oh Marlies, I probably would’ve given in too. Your Amelie is really super cute! You can’t help but fall in love with her.

My little star (50 cm) is just like Marion’s Mäxchen—with a “sitting bottom.” The pants fit her perfectly, too—the ones Marion knitted as a sample back then. They’re knitted in a ribbed pattern, so they’re very stretchy. They’re just a little higher in the front, but that doesn’t matter at all since she’ll be wearing a top over them anyway.

I hope you have lots of fun with your Amelie.

Best wishes from Monika

A heartfelt thank you to all of you 😊

Amelie also has a fabric bottom, a very firm one.  I guess I’ll just have to keep trying for now.
If what I have on the needles right now doesn’t turn out any better than the finished pants, then I’ll try Monika’s leggings. Otherwise, it’s just dresses... lol.

Best regards
Marlies

Marlies, how about a high waistband on the pants? That’ll keep her bottom from peeking out.

My little one has new pants 😊

Thanks to Monika’s pattern (leggings), that tricky bottom is all bundled up and warm.

The yarn came from a swap package. There’s still enough left for a second pair of pants and maybe a matching sweater.

Hugs, Marlies

Hi Marlies, that’s great! Your Amelie looks so cute in her new clothes. You did a fantastic job!

By the way, I have two dolls with that kind of “sitting bottom.” You can see her in the leggings—she’s the one with the hair. Her bottom is actually very firm—not as soft as Sternchen’s. Maybe that’s why the pants turned out so well—because back then, those were the only two I had to choose from for that size. Even now, I always knit them for these dolls first, and then they fit the others too.

I’m glad your problem worked out so wonderfully.

Best regards from Monika

Marlies, it’s great that you finally found a suitable pattern for the pants for your Amelie.

Yes, Monika is simply good at that.
Your Amelie looks very beautiful in her pants, and your sweater goes perfectly with them too.

Best wishes, Marion

Thank you all. I’ve already cast on the second pair of leggings. I’ll make them without cuffs. I hope I have enough yarn for the matching sweater.
Then I still need to knit or crochet some socks. Right now, Amelie is wearing Niklas’s gray socks. Of course, they’re a little too big.

Isn’t it great that you can find solutions to all your problems here?😊

Yes, Marlies, there’s always a solution. And I’m really glad I could help you with this. Now your Amelie can wear pants, too.

You’re going to have so much fun with her. She really is absolutely adorable, that little one.

Best wishes from Monika

A little dress for the child.
I think it still needs an appliqué on it. I’m not completely happy with it yet.

Progress is slow because my hands keep falling asleep while I’m working. Because of the gastritis, I had to stop taking my anti-inflammatories. Now the arthritis is acting up again all over my body.

I brought the yarn back from Stade, from the euro store; it comes from Turkey (100 g/€2)  and is so soft and silky. I didn’t actually need any yarn at all, but... you know how it is.

Yesterday my new needle trios finally ended up in the flower bed too (delivery to mailbox). I hope they’ll make things go a bit faster.

Best wishes
Marlies

Marlies, you’re right. The dress looks even prettier with a colorful belt, flowers, or a collar.

I hope you feel better soon.

Marlies, the little dress turned out so cute. Yeah, it still needs a little color. I’m curious to see what else you’ll change.

I hope you feel better soon.

Cute little dress, and as the previous commenters already said, it needs a little something to catch the eye.
I know all too well what arthritis is like—sometimes it’s really enough to make you cry ;-)

Thank you, Inge. 😊
For the next little dress, I’ll have to attach the skirt a bit higher. Then it should fit better.

Best regards, Marlies

Dear Marlies,

wow, your Amelie looks absolutely adorable in that pretty little dress. You did a great job with the embellishment—it’s absolutely charming and perfect for spring.

To me, the dress fits her quite well. In any case, it looks great on her with the skirt flaring out a bit lower down.

I also wish you a speedy recovery and pain-free knitting and crocheting.

Warm regards,
Monika

Thank you so much, Monika. Things just go a little slower with all these breaks.

Best wishes, Marlies
