I’m having withdrawal symptoms...

Get well soon! I know the problem too, and when I start noticing symptoms, I use “Enelbin Paste”. It’s a very old remedy that works better for me than Voltaren and the like.
Just give it a try.

Wednesday: The weekend is almost here (no advertising thread)

Hi everyone,
I really should be focusing on dance descriptions, beats, step sequences, and music (for my dance instructor training), buuuut… here I am, stuck here again… lol.
Even though I’ve been here for a few months now, I find something new almost every day, and then suddenly a lot of time has flown by.

But now my purple potatoes are waiting to end up in a salad.

Wishing everyone a wonderful Wednesday.
Best regards, Marlies

Why do you enjoy crafts? (No advertising thread)

Handicrafts are simply wonderful. You make something with your own hands (sometimes from a small bit of leftover yarn), watch it grow, and eventually it’s finished. Almost like a baby... lol.

I can knit too, but crocheting comes more naturally to me. But since it takes a lot of work and—depending on the type of yarn—can sometimes be more expensive, I only give my handmade items as gifts to people who truly appreciate their “value.”

Many years ago, I crocheted a long-sleeved sweater in size 54/56 for my mother. Can you imagine how disappointed, but also how angry, I was when that lovely piece ended up torn to shreds in the dog’s bed?
That was the last thing my mother got from me.

I crocheted filet crochet curtains for my sister-in-law. They look especially lovely in a wooden house. At some point I asked why the curtains were always hanging in different windows. Her answer was, “They look so lovely, and that way the neighbors think I have several sets.” That made me very happy, and by now she does have “several”...

Crafts Chase Winter Away (Not a promotional thread)

Hello Josefa,
well then, I’ll quickly unpack the new yarn and get started, hoping it will actually help.

I think winter is great, but I prefer to look at it from a greater distance. I don’t need it here where I am. Sunshine, clear air, and frost are enough for me. Snow is just something I have to clear away.

@Pe-Ka: those were real winters back then... I still remember a wonderful snow cave that my father had built for us.

Best wishes, Marlies

Things are going well on Tuesday (not an ad thread)

This morning was our first dance practice after the Christmas break, which was longer than usual for the first time. Still, all the dances went relatively well.
We’re a DRK senior dance group—24 women and one man—and our combined age is around 2020 years. And at 60, I’m still the “youngest” one… haha.
In May, we’ll be celebrating our 30th anniversary. As the future dance instructor, I’m involved in planning our celebration, so my handicrafts have to take a back seat for a bit.

I hope everyone has a day as sunny as mine.
Warm regards, Marlies

Cozy Monday (not an advertising thread)

Get well soon to those who are sick!

Today I’ve already managed 2 x 20-minute walks to and from the train station, 2 x 24-minute train rides, 2 x 50-minute walks from the station to the doctor’s office and back, plus a 45-minute stroll through town.
It was (despite the early hour—I left the house at 6:30 a.m.) very pleasant to walk in the fresh, but very cold, air.
Now the door wreath is staring at me, waiting for the crocheted roses. However, tiredness is also setting in here in the warm living room. Let’s see who wins the race for my attention ... lol.

Homemade Gifts (Not an Advertising Thread)

For Christmas, I got crocheted slippers and Fröbel stars in eight different sizes.
Since I know that the lady who gave them to me—at 88 years old—already has a few problems of her own, I was of course even happier to receive them, and the slippers are nice and warm.

Carnival / Fastnacht: Are you excited about it? (no advertising thread)

Even though the Cuxland region isn’t exactly a Carnival stronghold, I love Carnival—especially the one in Cologne.
It would be a dream to take part in a ladies’ carnival session like that, or any session at all. Unfortunately, I’ve only seen them on TV, but I really get into it.
We (I volunteer with the German Red Cross) celebrate Rose Monday with our senior citizens. There’s plenty going on there, too.

Quick question: What’s most important to you right now?

Crocheting
(my old needlework teacher always used to say, “My dear child, you’ll never make a straight potholder in your whole life”)
unfortunately, I wasn’t able to show her the first christening gown.

Where are you from?

My home base is between Stade and Otterndorf, so almost on the North Sea coast. However, I’m also very often in the Altes Land, right on the Elbe.
Best regards, Marlies.
