Hi, everyone!
Unfortunately, I have severe tendonitis in my right wrist and am not allowed to crochet or knit. I never would have thought it would affect me this badly, though!
All I can think about is finishing my projects, and I’m totally restless and on edge inside.
My mood isn’t the best either, and I just don’t know what to do instead. I’ve already tried reading, but I can’t really concentrate on that either—even though I could use this forced break to finally tackle my unread books. It seriously feels like withdrawal (I once tried to quit smoking, and it was similar).
first of all, get well soon!
I’m also taking it easy with crocheting at the moment because I’ve noticed that my wrist is starting to “twinge” again. And I’m already applying Voltaren as a precaution… because I really don’t want to get full-blown tendonitis again…
I actually get massive withdrawal symptoms when I can’t crochet!
you’re definitely going through withdrawal—I just haven’t figured out what helps yet either... I also get totally restless when I can’t crochet or knit.
Hi Mel,
first of all, get well soon—tenosynovitis is nasty; I know all about it... Luckily, my last bout was a few years ago, and I haven’t gotten any from crafting yet. If I couldn’t craft for a long time, I’d probably be climbing the walls from withdrawal symptoms...
I don’t know if this will help with your withdrawal symptoms, but I’d sort through my yarn, revise patterns, sort through or rip out my UFOs, and sketch out new ideas.
Best regards,
Sylvia
Get well soon! I know the problem too, and when I start noticing symptoms, I use “Enelbin Paste”. It’s a very old remedy that works better for me than Voltaren and the like.
Just give it a try.
Oh, that’s so frustrating! I can totally relate to how you’re feeling.
I hope you feel better soon and that you’ll be able to pick up your needles again in no time.
Oh yes, you can definitely get addicted to crafts :-), not a day goes by for us without yarn and needles.
I hope you feel better soon so you can get back to crafting :-)!
Hi Mel, get well soon from me too.
Yes, you can get addicted. I’m taking a short crochet break starting tomorrow, but I’ll be sewing instead. My husband is leaving on a business trip tomorrow, and I’ve already brought my sewing machine into the living room. That way, the withdrawal symptoms are manageable. But I can’t do completely without it either.
OH Mel, I feel so bad for you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! First of all, I hope you get better soon—as soon as possible. I understand you so well. I can’t get by without knitting and crocheting either. What helps? I have no idea. It’s best to listen to the doctor so you can get this over with as soon as possible.
Thank you all so much!
I actually sorted through my yarn to distract myself at least a little bit. I looked over all the patterns I’ve bought again and thought about the order in which I’ll work on them. I also went for a nice walk with my husband because it was so beautifully sunny today. But tonight, sitting in front of the TV, I’m feeling extremely restless again...
