I thought that now that it’s spring, I’d sew a few little birds as a greeting; if they turn out well, I can hang them on the branches in front of the house for a few neighbors as a surprise.
Since I was too lazy to print anything out, I drew them myself. This is the prototype made of felt for now, with different colors on the sides. I messed up the beak a bit, but now I know how to do it better next time.
I’m just not sure yet whether to leave them this big or make them a little smaller… We’ll see.

Otherwise, I’m dealing with a stupid tooth. It acted up back in December—they said it was just a sensitive tooth neck then—but I think a root canal might be on the horizon (hopefully not).
I have an appointment on Friday; I hope the tooth holds out until then. With my fear of the dentist—argh—it’s stress times ten, plus the fear of getting infected there, especially since I’m immunosuppressed. I really don’t need that right now; I have chemo again in two weeks.

Nevertheless, we’ve had two wonderfully sunny spring days, and I spent a little time tidying up the garden. I can’t do much, and I’m totally wiped out now.

My new hedgehog house arrived today. Since the hedgehog sleeps in the little house, there’s no room for food bowls. I’d built something next to it, but the cats stole the food.
So I invested in something bigger—with two entrances and no floor (because hedgehogs love to poop inside as a “thank you”). That way, the house can be moved around, and hedgehog poop makes great fertilizer. I’m curious to see if he’ll find it (he will—it smells delicious in there), and the wildlife camera is already set up.

So, I finished it yesterday. Carnival is over, but there’s always next year...

Mel, your spring sweater turned out great—beautiful, soft colors, and I really like the pattern, too.

Best wishes, Marion

Hi there.....
I’m back here again too 🙈

Mel, I like the colors of your spring sweater 💗
Ruth, the blanket is sweet. Not just for Carnival—I can really imagine it on a birthday table too.
Knitting-wise, absolutely nothing has been happening for me lately. It’s coming back veeeery slowly. I currently have a "tears shawl" on the needles, with a lot of patterning. Counting helps so I don’t get lost in my thoughts.

15 years we’ve been through thick and thin 💗💗💗

The first "half" is already off the needles. Now there’s another piece like that to make, and then the whole thing will be needled together, so joined with another triangle... This time there were quite a lot of stitches picked up from the edge—not necessarily what I like, but hey, practice makes perfect 😁

Dear Steffi, I’m so sorry. You’ve come a long way together; she’ll be missed. It hurts.

Yes, knitting is a good distraction, especially when you have to pay close attention to the pattern.

Thanks, Petra—yes, he is missed. Murphy was born in my living room; I was there for his first breath ❤️ My consolation is that he had a beautiful life and simply drifted off to sleep peacefully. Even though it came so “suddenly.”
Now I still have his mom here—she’s 16, has mild dementia, and suffers from arthritis.... I’m trying to make things as nice as possible for her....
I just took the dog for a walk—some spring forest air, wonderful 😊
Now just a bit of housework and a lunch break, then out on the patio with my knitting

You’ve all been so hard at work and have made so many great things. 🌷

I’ve been slacking off a bit… but I did manage to get something done. I knitted five “Hase Mampfi” bunnies by Mona for the Post mit Herz Easter campaign.
Two crocheted window hangings still need to be stretched. I just didn’t like how they looked after ironing.

My new kitchen curtain is finished.

Best wishes, Marlies

I think your curtains are pretty, too, and your little figures look great in the window.

Thank you all 😊
The brown one was gradually getting a bit too dark for me after all. I’m going to “rework” it a little, then the gnomes and elves will stand out even better.

Veronika inspired me with her granny knit blanket. Thank you.

I actually dug out my knitting needles again and knitted two test squares right away—and lo and behold, it worked.

I’m so happy because...   I learned two new things today thanks to You...e.

While knitting, I really wanted a nice, straight edge—I gave it a try, managed it, and it turned out great.
Then, when binding off, everything kept pulling together, but... I found a video on “elastic bind-off”—it works great, and I’m thrilled.
Have any of you, dear knitters, heard of this, read about it, or tried it? I’m not much of a knitter, but this gave me such a sense of accomplishment that I’m going to keep knitting tomorrow.

I’ll post a picture later.      Now I have to go to bed—I’m working the late shift.

Warm knitting greetings
Andrea

Oh, I took a look. Veronika’s been working hard.
If you have lots of little scraps, I think mitered squares are also great for a blanket. And you can start knitting right away.

Hi everyone,

as promised, here are my first knitted granny squares—I tried out the newly acquired knitting tips. I’m thrilled.
This way, I can finally put my thicker yarn to good use. It’s not really suitable for crocheting for me.

What do you think?

Oh, by the way, the orange piece was a test piece; I bound off normally, so it pulls together at the top.

A blanket like this is a great idea. It’s something you can work on here and there.
I used up some colorful scraps for Easter. These chocolate flowers (https://www.crazypatterns.net/de/items/26113/schoko-blumen) make for a slightly different kind of Easter basket.
