My search using the keyword "men's sweater" turned up only one knitting pattern for the fine yarn I had in mind (gauge: 30 sts x 42 rows for 10 x 10 cm)—cable pattern on the front, stockinette stitch for the rest. I bought it, but then unfortunately realized that the sweater has to be knitted in separate pieces that need to be sewn together at the end. I’ve already ruined quite a few nice projects that way :(
Aren’t there any patterns for men’s sweaters that can be knitted in one piece (at least mostly), similar to RVO or RVU for women and children?
I’m having trouble sifting through the patterns because neither the yarn weight nor any references to RVU/RVO are listed. I’ve been searching high and low, and I’ve even bought some patterns only to find out later that they don’t meet my criteria. To be honest, even €3 is too much for that, even though I’m otherwise happy to pay for good patterns.
Did I maybe miss a search filter where you can enter, for example, the gauge or something like RVO/RVU?
Hi,
a raglan calculator could be a big help here. It calculates everything for you based on your gauge, neck circumference, and the length of the raglan line.
That’s true, but in the photos they look like they’re knitted with thicker yarn; it’s hard to tell for sure because there’s no information about gauge or needle size.
Thanks—I’ve gotten this suggestion several times. I’ve seen these men’s sweaters and even bought a few patterns, but most of them are made with thick yarn and require sewing the pieces together. It’s only in the patterns themselves that you’ll find information about gauge and whether the sweater is “knitted in one piece” or not.
A good tip was to look for an RVO calculator, but I ended up finding and buying a usable pattern elsewhere.
