Fadenstrang’s Birthday // Download Knitting Pattern for Hexagon Shawl, Multicolored

Dear Caro,
belated heartfelt congratulations from me. I sincerely hope that this new year of your life brings you a positive and joyful contrast to the past one. After such a low point, the only way is up.
I feel much the same way as you do. This forum and everyone I “meet” here always do me a world of good—especially when life isn’t going so smoothly. For me, knitting and crocheting are like a form of therapy.

You definitely have my sympathy. A hug for you (if you’d like) from Monika

Hardworking little helpers: Did you have a smooth start to the month?

I love September with its mild temperatures. It makes outdoor activities really fun again… hiking, biking, and so on.

I have a few trips planned in the RV, including one to visit my granddaughter in Ravensburg. It’ll be a surprise when I give her the new kindergarten bag. :-)

I’m sure I’ll get plenty of knitting and crocheting done, since I’ll be using the time during the trips and my free time both before and while in the RV.

Count them, please: How many pieces of clothing do you own?

I’m just like Christina when it comes to shoes, since I also have complicated feet. Finding really good, comfortable shoes is almost like winning the lottery for me. ;-)

Stitch Count Wednesday: Let’s get started.

I’m already knitting and crocheting quite a bit at the moment, but to be honest, in this heat I don’t feel like counting stitches on top of that... phew... sweating...

Wishing you all a happily sweaty rest of the day today! :-) Tomorrow it’ll finally be cooler again. I’m looking forward to it and will use the day for some needlework too.

Counting stitches: How many can you do today?

It’s good, Mel, that everything turned out okay and there was no lasting damage.

I’ve already managed quite a few stitches myself, but I don’t feel like counting them right now. ;-)

Can you see the moon?

Yesterday we were treated to a clear sky and were able to watch the whole spectacle well into the night. It was truly impressive, especially since Mars suddenly turned red, too. And then, as the moon gradually became fully visible again… it was just incredible.

It really was a once-in-a-century cosmic event.

We didn’t take any photos, but there were plenty to see online. You just have to search for them. ;-)

This ladybug is a special little creature that helps you out in the kitchen as an oven mitt. It could become the eye-catcher in your kitchen.

Perfect for beginners with basic skills. It’s also a great project for the garden.
My tip: Crochet a few more right away, and you’ll already have some Christmas gifts ready.

July Classics: Must-haves.

This round neck/shoulder warmer—knitted with fine cotton—is a great garden project. Even as a beginner with basic knitting skills, you’ll have no trouble recreating it. You’ll have so much fun that you’ll end up knitting several of them.

New knitting patterns from July and June 28–30

This vest was knitted from bouclé cotton and has something special: vertical stripes that you don't have to knit in. They are crocheted on later. I’ll show you exactly how that works in the pattern.

Of course, the vest can be knitted with any other wool or cotton yarn. You can also adjust the sizes by using thinner or thicker yarn. This one fits size 40/42.

Click here for more information and the knitting pattern for the vest with vertical stripes.

How do UFOs come about?

I always have several projects on the go. Sometimes new ideas pop up that I just have to try out. Or I want to finish multiple projects at the same time.

Often, I’m working on a complicated project that requires my full concentration. And then I need something else on the side—something simple that I can knit or crochet even when I’m with other people.

UFOs happen when, for example, I get stuck on a project. Maybe I don’t like it, or the yarn is just no good. Or I’m waiting for a flash of inspiration on how to continue... ;-)

Well, and sometimes I just lose the desire to keep working on a particular project because I find something else much more exciting at the moment.

How are you? What are you up to?

I’ve already processed 5 kilos of jostaberries today. What a treat—I love them!
Our landlord gave them to us as a gift; that was really great!

Well, and I’m still working on my UFOs... My unfinished projects from last month will finally be finished in the next few days, and then I’m already thinking about what to start next.

Sweater, cardigan without seams, knitted from the top down

Christina, try searching for “knitting a circular yoke” or just “circular yoke.” There are plenty of examples out there—maybe even here on CP.

You’ve actually given me an idea. I used to knit Norwegian sweaters a lot. I really love the ones with a circular yoke and, for example, a pretty lace pattern.

That’ll definitely be one of my next projects. I love learning new things and will definitely do some in-depth research on this.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Dolls / Doll Clothing / Doll Accessories

This cute little cuddly bear is something special for a baby or toddler. After all, it was hand-knitted by mom or grandma.

You can make it as a beginner too, as long as you have basic skills. It's very easy with the pattern, which clearly describes every step.

It's best to get started right away. A special gift like this brings joy not only at Christmas, but all year round.

The Best Exclusive Patterns January to June 2018

Click here for the knitting pattern for the vest with vertical stripes made from bouclé cotton

This vest is a pretty eye-catcher because it has vertical stripes. The brilliant thing is that you only knit it in one color. The stripes are crocheted on later. In the pattern, I show you exactly how to do it.

The vest has become one of my favorite pieces of clothing. I wear it when going out on cool summer evenings. And in fall, I’ll simply wear a shirt or sweater underneath.

If you have knitting and crochet experience, you’ll be able to knit the vest easily. In the 28-page photo version, I show you many individual steps. In addition, you’ll also get a print version without pictures so your printer gets a break.

Now I hope you have lots of fun knitting it!

So, how are you all doing today?

Marlies, maybe it’ll comfort you to know that my husband also didn’t have contact with his daughter for a long time. When his granddaughter turned 4, that fortunately changed, and he was very happy about it. In the meantime, he’s also talked things through with his daughter—everything’s been sorted out.

I wish the same for you with all my heart!

Tina, a pet is just as dear to our hearts as a child. Your cat was probably looking for an adventure and got to know the world a little better. Loving also means letting go… and that’s what hurts the most. I’m so glad she’s back! :-)

Cherry prints and floral prints are in: Do you like them?

I really like floral prints. However, in the summer, so do wasps, bees, and everything else that flies around. They probably think I’m a flower. That’s why I tend to go easy on them in the summer.

Final sprint and award ceremony // all May projects at a glance

Thanks, Josefa! It’s kind of a different feeling than “just” being a “Wool Empress,” because for that you only have to “diet” for one month. Half a year is a whole different ballgame… and I was really looking forward to the title.

Now I’ve achieved world domination over myself and my yarn addiction! Cool!

Happy with April? Plans for May

Ida, I hope that calmer times are ahead for your family and that you’ll find the time and desire to knit again.

I’m happy with my knitting projects this April. I used up quite a bit of my yarn stash.

In May, I’m also looking forward to a vacation—of course, I’ll be bringing all my needles and plenty of yarn. For me, that’s an absolute must for a camping trip.
