Today I recommend crochet patterns for little animals that are very well suited for babies as their very first cuddly toys. They are nice and fluffy soft and not too big, so babies will soon be able to reach for them.

The little sheep is crocheted from plush yarn. To help you see the stitches better while working, I recommend using a thin cotton yarn as a carry-along thread. You can build a music box into the fluffy little lamb. Then it can go to bed with your child every evening and play a gentle melody until they have fallen asleep.

The baby kitten is also made from the same plush yarn. I designed it here in two colors (black and white). But of course you can also crochet a solid-colored little cat. The baby kitten has safety eyes. For babies, however, I recommend embroidering the eyes.

And here is a little bunny that is constructed like a cuddle cloth. The body is not stuffed here, only the head, front paws, and hind paws. By using three different yarns, the animal gets a texture that is interesting for the baby, encouraging the child to feel and touch it. The eyes are embroidered.
