Dear users, dear authors,
What are you doing this weekend? Have fun, everyone. How's the weather where you are?

Hi Josefa,
here in the Rhineland, in Düsseldorf, it looks like we’re finally going to have a few days without rain. However, the temperatures are immediately skyrocketing again.

I’ve already done quite a bit of gardening today; now I’m sitting here knitting and looking forward to the weekend.

Sunday marks the first anniversary of my best friend’s passing. We’re meeting up with friends at the cemetery and then going out to eat together afterward. It’ll be nice, and she would have liked it, too.

Wishing you a wonderful—and hopefully rain-free—weekend as well.
Warm regards,
Petra

@Petra
Those are always tough moments.... It’s good that you don’t have to go through this alone.

I’ll be nursing my summer flu.... Since yesterday, I’ve lost my voice; I can only whisper now.
I’ve never had it this bad before... The doctor said it’s probably a lingering effect of the pandemic. She has a lot of patients with summer flu at the moment.
Well, in the age of WhatsApp and the like, you don’t necessarily have to talk anyway. ;)

My husband is coming home tomorrow. He had a stent placed in his carotid artery yesterday.

Since we’re both a bit under the weather, not much will be happening.

I wish you all a lovely weekend, take care of yourselves and drink enough; it’s going to get very warm again.

Best wishes
Michaela

Here in the Rhineland, Cologne, it’s nice and sunny (finally!) but also got very warm very suddenly. The main thing is that it’s finally bright after that endlessly gloomy gray sky, and there aren’t many activities to do here anyway, so everything’s fine.
I’m still dealing with a somewhat stubborn case of summer bronchitis and am feeling a bit run down because of it, but otherwise everything’s fine.
This morning I went for a short walk and did some quick shopping before it got too hot; this afternoon I’ve been working on my crochet projects, and that’s pretty much how the weekend will go.

Wishing everyone here a lovely weekend,
here in Main-Franconia it's very warm, around 30° and more; not nice for me at all, because I really can't cope with it. I'm looking forward to autumn with normal temperatures

Best wishes, Inge

It’s nice and warm here at the foot of the Swabian Alb.

I’ve discovered the garden shower—just hop under it for a moment and I feel great again.

Today we’re going to make pesto with friends and then enjoy some delicious spaghetti right after. I’m really looking forward to it.

Tomorrow we want to plan what we’d like to do next week on our vacation. We’re still undecided about whether to go away for a few days, because the summer thunderstorms in the weather app are giving us cause for concern. We’ll see what we decide.

Have a wonderful weekend

Veronika, I hope you feel better soon

Wishing you all a speedy recovery. Here by the Danube, it’s a bit windy but very hot.
So let’s close the blinds, take it easy, and look forward to our vacation next week.

I also wish everyone who’s feeling under the weather a speedy recovery. It’s full-on summer here, and I’m enjoying it in the garden—with my knitting, of course.

It’s so beautiful this morning. I’m sitting in my rocking chair right now, enjoying the peace and quiet before the neighborhood wakes up

Three days after my carpal tunnel surgery, I still can’t do much, and I really shouldn’t be out in the heat anyway… Showering—with a plastic bag over my right hand—is a bit of a hassle and not much fun, especially when it’s over thirty degrees… I can write a little again, and tomorrow I’ll try my hand at knitting or, at the very least, weave in ends. It’s just a hassle that my diet is pretty limited, since cutting vegetables is almost impossible—especially when there are so many tempting peppers of all kinds and great recipes to make with them. Well, I can’t complain: I’m not in any pain, and I’m sleeping reasonably well despite the heat…

Get well soon!
Was it an outpatient procedure or did you have to stay in the hospital?

Dear Christina,

things will get better soon! Just be patient a little longer! Three days isn’t very long after a recent surgery. You’ll have to be patient a little longer until the wound heals. After all, they cut you open, worked on the tissue, and stitched you back up. That heals pretty quickly. Yes, of course you’re limited during the first week because there are certain things you can’t do. But once the stitches are out, it’ll all be forgotten. And you’ll be pain-free! Until then, there are delicious fresh vegetables to eat whole… just bite right into them and enjoy. I’d love to send you one of my “pineapple tomatoes” over the internet… :-); I grow them myself, and they taste absolutely divine.

My sister also had surgery on both hands six months apart for carpal tunnel syndrome. It was annoying at first—it’s a wound in the palm of your hand, after all. You really notice it because your hand is always moving. But now the source of the pain is gone, and your body is doing everything it can to help the wound heal quickly.

As a physical therapist, I see doing a little manual work as a form of physical therapy for the hand. It gently stretches the tendons and muscles, and soon your hand will be fully functional again.

I wish you a speedy recovery and a little patience.
Best regards, Ina

I hope you feel better soon, too. Give yourself and your body a little time—surgery like that isn’t exactly a walk in the park.
Things will definitely get better soon. :)
