Using Christmas gift yarn ++ Using Bobbel

Maybe the Christ Child brought you some fine lace yarn? The pattern for this delicate crochet shawl is perfect for it.

You can find it here.

A simple lace pattern, explained in writing and also with a crochet chart.

Using Christmas gift yarn ++ Using Bobbel

If you're ever in the mood for something unusual, how about a bat scarf?

You can find the pattern here.

It's very easy to knit and still a lot of fun. Depending on what yarn you use, it will turn out wider or narrower. My original is made from fairly thick merino wool, but basically you can use any yarn you like for it. Suitable for beginners!

Craft Goals for 2018 // General Goals for 2018

Dear Tanja, my sincere condolences. I have very little to add to your words.
Dementia is also very much on my mind; both of my parents are severely affected (my mother, by the way, survived Christmas). It is often difficult to follow their train of thought or even get through to them at all, but every now and then you also experience very happy moments. The joy over a ray of sunshine or over a touch. Even if these moments are forgotten again a few minutes later, they are still more important than anything else.
I have no goals; life unfolds by itself.

Happy 2018

All the best to you, too, for the New Year!
I don’t usually associate the turn of the year with any resolutions. But if I could make a wish, it would be, above all, peace within the family. I’d also wish for peace in the world, but things don’t really look that way right now. That leaves the family—that’s something we can work on ourselves.

Who got something great for crafts from the Christ Child? :-)

Now that’s what I call a useful gift :-) Which ones are you having trouble figuring out?
By the way, the Christ Child brought me a whole lot of yarn :-)

At a Loss with the Sleeve Cap!

I don’t know what was written there before, but if this is about decreasing for a sleeve, it’s pretty normal for only a few stitches to remain at the end. That fits nicely into the armholes on the front and back pieces.

The kids aren’t letting the lousy weather get them down and want to take their new sled out during Christmas break? They’ll need a warm hat!
It comes in various sizes (so it’s suitable for parents, too). The stylish checkered pattern is knitted right in and is sure to turn heads on the sledding hill. A knitting chart helps with the project.

You can find the pattern here.

Many people have plenty of time over the holidays to finally make themselves cozy at home. Maybe the Christkind brought a little yarn, too. Something you can knit relaxedly with the family without losing the thread in the pattern is this stole. A simple brioche stitch that looks great in gradient yarns.

You can find the pattern here.

2017: Projects / Yarn Used / UFOs //// How did it go?

I’m not quite done with my stats and tally yet. I’ve finished 52 projects, including a few pretty big ones like a crocheted dress, 2 blankets, a sweater, and a few very labor-intensive shawls.
I used about 23,000 meters of yarn.
I’ve lost track of my UFOs a bit. But I’m happy with the amount of time I’ve been able to devote to crafting.
I’ve created 23 patterns this year, though some of them are currently only available in English.

All set for Christmas?

I’ve finished the red Christmas socks. But other than that, I’m not really getting into the Christmas spirit this year, because it’s already clear that it’s going to be more stressful than festive.
I still have to wrap the presents, and a little Christmas cleaning wouldn’t hurt either.

Crafting During Your Coffee Break

This scarf is also perfect for a coffee break, because you can set it aside at any time when the break is over without worrying that you won’t be able to pick up the pattern later. Plus, it looks really stylish.

Here is the pattern.

Crafting During Your Coffee Break

Perfect for a coffee break: a knitted bracelet that's finished in no time. You'll have to be careful that there isn't still coffee left by the time the bracelet is done! It's also a wonderful way to use up leftover yarn.

Blazer Cape

I just took a look to see what something like that looks like. Basically, you’d need a pattern for a sleeveless vest. What turns it into a cape is the large rectangle that hangs down over the back. It’s really nothing more than a rectangle that’s fitted into the armholes at the top edge instead of sleeves. I hope that explains it clearly. I can’t post external links here, but if you Google “blazer cape sewing pattern,” you’ll find a few results where you can see it clearly.

Trends 2017/2018: Animals, Materials, Techniques, and Colors

If ultraviolet feels too cool for you and you’d rather have something bright red that also keeps you warm in winter, how about an infinity scarf made of merino wool? Knitted in a simple pattern that’s easy to remember but also very effective.

You can find the pattern here.

Trends 2017/2018: Animals, Materials, Techniques, and Colors

Ultraviolet was chosen as the Pantone Color of the Year 2018. It’s a rather bluish violet that looks a bit cool to me, but I personally like it better than the green that was current this year. Be that as it may, colors are of course a matter of taste too. Here is my ultraviolet scarf. It is knitted with sock-weight yarn in a cable and lace pattern.

You can find the pattern this way.

Warm material?

Sheep’s wool and alpaca. Animal fibers more so than plant-based ones.
If you want to avoid animal products, you might turn to polyester. For me, the downside is that it isn’t very breathable—though on cold winter days, that can actually be an advantage.

Pastel Colors / Neon Colors: Start Crafting Color Accents Now

This knitted triangular shawl has a very feminine look in delicate pastel colors. The shawl is knitted from sock yarn, and the amount required depends on the desired size. The pattern is almost suitable for beginners; the shawl consists entirely of knit stitches. You only need to be a little careful with the points along the edge.

You can find the shawl here.

Pastel Colors / Neon Colors: Start Crafting Color Accents Now

How about a brilliantly colorful crocheted scarf? It glows in the dark!
You'll need 2 skeins of sock yarn, 100g each, and a 3.5 mm crochet hook. The scarf is mostly made with a mesh pattern, with cable ribs crocheted in between. There’s a photo tutorial for that.

You can find the pattern here.

Top 3 of All Authors

My number 1 is still this triangular shawl, knitted from exactly one skein of sock yarn, a simple and relaxing pattern made up of knit and purl stitches with a few lace rows in between.

Here is the pattern.

Number 2 is this lace-pattern scarf, knitted from thick cotton yarn, which drapes wonderfully softly.

The pattern can be found here.

And then number 3. It’s this stole in a sophisticated lace pattern. It is knitted from soft merino wool.

You can find the pattern for it here.

I hope you enjoy making them!

Download a Project for Advent Weekend

A lovely weekend project that can actually be completed in just one weekend using thick yarn is this crocheted fringed scarf. What makes it special is that the fringes are attached to the sides rather than the ends. Very fashionable!
This pattern is also suitable for beginners—the scarf is basically made entirely of double crochet stitches.

Download a Project for Advent Weekend

Advent, which is often called the contemplative season, is also often a very hectic time for many people. All the better when you can really relax on the weekend. With a simple crocheted infinity scarf, you can forget the hustle and bustle.
It is crocheted from yarn with a yardage of 88 m per 25 g. The pattern is simple—not necessarily for beginners, but if you know double crochet and chain stitches, it should work out.

You can find the pattern here.

A set consisting of a hat, scarf, and wrist warmers is called the “Emmentaler” set. The name comes from the fact that all three feature a pattern with small holes. The entire set is knitted from sock yarn. There’s a photo tutorial for the lace pattern and 3 patterns with knitting charts.

Relieve Stress + Find Relaxation

The pattern for this stole is simple and almost meditative—and it’s suitable even for knitting beginners. It’s the ideal project to knit on the side during an exciting evening of TV, or when you have visitors and there’s a lot of talking. You really can’t go too far wrong with this one.

Relieve Stress + Find Relaxation

This knitted triangular shawl is pure relaxation. It features a very straightforward pattern that requires hardly any special skills. Knit stitches and purl stitches, with a few lace rows in between—that’s all there is to it. If you have one skein of sock yarn on hand, you’re ready to go.

You can find the pattern here.

A wonderfully soft lace stole looks fantastic in purple or violet. If you knit it in merino wool, it will be especially cozy, but of course you can use other yarns too.
The pattern is written out row by row, and there is also a knitting chart.
