The Christmas Dinner

Every Christmas season
, everyone starts cooking,
baking, and roasting.
Often, you have to guess
what the result will be.
They probably bit off more than they could chew.
The roast turned out completely different from
how it looked in the newspaper.
The cake is lopsided and crooked.
The batter ran off the baking sheet.
A pudding would be great, too,
but the carton of milk wasn’t full.
You can safely forget about the whole lovely Christmas dinner
now.
As always, in our greatest need
, a slice of bread saves us.

M.B.2017

With that in mind, I wish you all a merry, blessed Christmas surrounded by your loved ones.

Best regards, Marlies

So, the Christmas tree is decorated and the nativity scene is set up. Now I wish you all happy Christmas holidays—just the way you want them: cozy, quiet, lively, loud, peaceful, with or without gifts—whatever suits your taste!

The apartment is clean, the fridge is full, the tree is decorated, and the gifts are wrapped—now peace and quiet set in, and the anticipation of the loved ones celebrating with us begins :-)

I really hope that you, too, can slow down a bit now, and I wish all of you, dear knitters, crocheters, crafters, designers, and of course the entire cp team, a wonderful holiday season!

With love, Steffi

Dear CP team, dear visitors, customers, and authors at CP,

I want to say thank you to all of you, for being here and for the respectful way everyone treats one another here. Above all, my thanks go to the CP team, who are working behind the scenes almost day and night so that everything runs smoothly.

I wish each and every one of you a blessed Christmas with many happy moments and encounters. Most of all, I wish you time for family and friends, and also for yourselves. You have earned it.

I also wish that your body feels well.

So take good care of yourselves and enjoy wonderful days!

At this point I would like to add the shared Christmas poem that we—the users of this forum—created for CP as a true group effort.
I took the liberty of adding the last 4 lines.

Warm Christmas greetings from Monika

Woolly Christmas at Crazypatterns

The needles clatter softly in the warm room
while in the cooking pot the turnip starts to bloom.

The mulled wine on the stove is steaming too,
while the little one munches cookies—quite a few.

Josefa is looking forward to the tree,
and is knitting a stocking—I can hardly believe what I see!

And afterward she crochets a blanket too,
while the housework is left with nothing to do.

The apartment smells of cookies sweet,
on the sofa my kitten is fast asleep.

Despite the mulled wine, the stocking is almost done,
but the wool is poor quality, not much fun.

Oh dear, what should I do with it now?
Unravel it—that keeps me fit somehow.

Josefa can get help, sure as can be,
from all the helpful CP authors in the community.

Meanwhile she looks for the Christmas baubles bright,
"Which colors are in? I'll go Google that tonight."

And where are all the lovely crochet stars?
I have an idea: "I'll make them myself," I like that by far.

Quick as a wink, the wool is already there.
So radiant in yellow, like sunshine in the air.

But where can I get a pattern from?
The answer to that question is not a difficult one.

Looked on Crazypatterns, hooray!
There they are already—on the picture in the snow today

One click—this pattern is the one for me.
I could shout out loud with glee

But what was that? There is a knock at the door!
Never mind, I have no time for it anymore.

The socks just will not let me go
There is that knocking again! Who is it, though?

Let me in! comes the sound from outside the house
It's me, of course—Santa Claus!!

Oh man, he's brought the big stocking along
what's inside it? I really care—don't get me wrong!

I am so curious, I want to know,
tangerines, nuts, and the soft wool I wished for are things I don't want to forgo.

The wool comes first, that is the plan.
I hope Santa knows that, the dear man.

Full of anticipation Josefa opens the door
happily reaches for the packages and thanks Santa very warmly for them all.

Where is the wool hidden now?
Oh man, I'm so excited somehow.

In the first little package there is a toaster
then comes an Elvis Presley poster

The wool must be in here somewhere...
Maybe here? No ... just a beautiful lucky stone there.

No wool at all? That cannot be right!
Who swiped it—which woolly little sprite?

At last I have found it, oh what fun.
What joy! I'll knit it in the round!

Praise and thanks be to the Christ Child!
and I'll get cozy on the stove bench for a while.

But Christmas is not over yet; someone is at the door.
After all, it is only a quarter to 4.

Then the smartphone rings too—who could it be?
Surprise: more wool is announcing itself to me :-)

Aunt Auguste comes with even more little packages.
Where is there still a free little corner for all these packages?

After a moment's thought, it comes to me:
In the kitchen: in the oven! There is still room, you see!

But—oh dear—now I have discovered it ahead of time:
Someone has already hidden something there, what a find.

There lies a little package with a red bow,
Inside there is no wool, because it smells like soap, you know!

Now mischief is sitting on my shoulder
I'll simply let the whole thing "sink in" and smolder

Because you don't find soap in the oven every day.
Does anyone still have a question to say? ;-)

Aunt Auguste is somewhat amazed,
after all, she will soon be 100, in just a few days.

A suitable hiding place was still found.
Meanwhile the knitting needles keep going round and round.

What do you think, where might this hiding place be?
Could it perhaps be somewhere back there, do you see?

Exactly, there is still space back there in the cabinet
and also in the stove bench, just a bit.

Oh, there are still many hiding places to be had,
in Grandma's cabinet there in the hall, not bad.

But the main thing in this Christmas season bright,
is that everyone together has lots of delight.

Treat yourselves to a warm scarf now, one and all.
Merry Christmas everywhere!
