In memory of Gilles Villeneuve who was the hero of my childhood. I'm not proud of that, it just happened as a counter attack to my brother who was a huge fan of Niki Lauda. One of the two is still alive, and both guys had red cars.

The cowl is worked in the round in an aran weight wool yarn. The pattern is easy to memorize and suitable for advanced beginners.

Difficulty level: advanced beginners (bamboo stitch, eyelets)

Yarn: Filana Super Merino (100% merino; 85m/50g; 93yds/1.76oz), 3 balls. That's what I used for mine with nearly nothing remaining. For a longer cowl make sure to have enough yarn.

Needles: 5mm/US 8 circular needles

Notions: yarn needle, 1 stitch marker

Gauge: 14 stitches/18 rows in stockinette stitch = 10cm/4in.

Size: 100cm (25in) in circumference, 22cm (8 3/4in) wide.
