Dear users, dear designers,
here in this thread you can browse through all the trends of 2017 again at a glance and, of course, also explore the trends for 2018 right away.

Animal trends:
Animals and amigurumi are, of course, always in demand; this year, flamingos, unicorns, and mermaids were also in. Classics like owls or bunnies are always a good choice, of course.

Trend color red is here to stay; sunny yellow and purple are catching up.
For materials, gradient yarn cakes are currently incredibly popular. Chenille is expected to become popular soon; we'll see how that goes. :- )

Among the techniques, tapestry crochet has grown wonderfully this year. With it, you can crochet, or rather “paint,” really beautiful patterns / pictures.

What are your favorite trends?

Here you can discover a wide range of trendy patterns and download them right away.
Give it a try.

@Designers,
you can present 2-3 trend patterns here. Don’t forget the link and image, as well as the usual information.

Polar bears and penguins don’t normally live together, since one lives in the Northern Hemisphere and the other in the Southern Hemisphere. In your kitchen, however, it’s possible for both to meet!

The two pot holders are crocheted using the tapestry technique. They are double-layered so you can slip your hand in from below. Since the tapestry technique makes the pot holders quite thick, you can use the thinner Catania instead of pot holder yarn.

A moose is an absolute cuddly animal, at least that’s true for Marvin the Moose!
Marvin’s “dad” is made from thicker, cuddly-soft yarn and was simply worked with a thicker hook and then brushed out.
Whether big or small, you can crochet yourself a whole herd!

The crochet pattern is described in detail and illustrated, so even beginners will enjoy it.
You’ll find all the information about materials and skills in the description.

The tartan technique is definitely on the rise!

Beautiful colors + simple pattern + great shape = a snood you simply have to have!

This cowl in a tartan look appears sophisticated, yet is so easy to make
that it is also suitable for beginners !

The circumference is about 80 cm, and the height is approx. 50 cm.
However, the included template and the gauge make it possible to adjust the size individually.

You will also find a chart of the color scheme as well as a detailed description in the pattern.
In addition, extensive photo documentation helps guide you through the knitting process.
The tartan technique is also described in detail and illustrated.

And here’s the pattern and more details...

RED is the trend color this season!
Combined with alpaca, always in fashion and wearable all year round...
But this accessory also looks great in merino.

A beautiful, elegant scarf made with a sophisticated cable pattern.

The length of the scarf is approximately 180 cm, the width about 38 cm.

The included knitting chart guides you through the pattern.

And here’s the pattern and more details...

This chocolate box is already right on trend with its red color, but now it’s also a perfect fit for the Christmas season! If you’re still looking for pretty packaging for your homemade chocolates, I can highly recommend this box.

The chocolate box is made of cardstock, measures approximately 17 x 4 x 16 cm, and is designed for chocolates with a diameter of about 3 cm. However, the box can also be made without the inner compartments, in which case it’s suitable for larger chocolates or other gifts. The box isn’t difficult to make, but you should already have some crafting experience.

Ultraviolet was chosen as the Pantone Color of the Year 2018. It’s a rather bluish violet that looks a bit cool to me, but I personally like it better than the green that was current this year. Be that as it may, colors are of course a matter of taste too. Here is my ultraviolet scarf. It is knitted with sock-weight yarn in a cable and lace pattern.

You can find the pattern this way.

If ultraviolet feels too cool for you and you’d rather have something bright red that also keeps you warm in winter, how about an infinity scarf made of merino wool? Knitted in a simple pattern that’s easy to remember but also very effective.

You can find the pattern here.

A new trend that I also tried out this year is the tapestry technique.  The result was these “Pisa” phone cases, which owe their name to the really “slanted” pattern.

The pretty phone cases are a wonderful last-minute gift, because they work up quickly and are an ideal beginner project, especially for tapestry beginners.

In the pattern, you’ll find the pattern explained in detail and also shown graphically—so you can follow the color changes row by row with complete accuracy. You’ll see how easy it is and how much fun it is to watch the pattern slowly grow!

To make them, you only need a little cotton yarn (125 m/50 g) in 3 different colors, a size 3.5 mm crochet hook, and a button in a matching color.

And you’re ready to get started!

And of course, THE trend of the year didn’t pass me by unnoticed either! I, too, caught unicorn fever, and the little unicorn lady "Adele" has moved in with me.

Little Adele is very friendly and charming—and with her lisp, she is simply sweet as sugar! She loves fragrant colorful flowers and has a real sweet tooth! No treat is safe from her ;-)

If you’d like to crochet this sweet little unicorn girl too, the detailed pattern with numerous illustrations is easy to follow, even for crochet beginners with a bit of experience.

And if you’d l rather give a gift to a little boy , just use different colors for the wonderful head of curls (e.g., green or blue), and you’ll get Adele's twin brother "Adrian"—because little boys need a little unicorn magic sometimes too!
