I use hooks ranging from size 0.5 to 2.5, depending on the yardage and the desired result.
I haven’t managed to prick my finger yet...wink.

Thanks to a tip from a seller, I ended up using pillow stuffing. It’s inexpensive and works well.
If the items need to be washable, I like to stuff them with old, discarded pantyhose.
When it comes to stabilizing them, it depends on whether they’re meant for playing with or just used as decoration. Cardboard, wire, pipe cleaners, skewers—I use all of these.

To be completely honest? It’s really starting to get to me. Up until now, I’ve always told myself, “Okay, this is just how it has to be.” But now that I see how unreasonable and careless people are becoming, I don’t know if it makes me sad or angry.
If you say something to someone while shopping who’s standing too close to you, they yell at you. One “gentleman” suggested that if I wanted real closeness, I could give him a... Fortunately, a store employee overheard this, and the “nice fellow” was kicked out of the store and banned from the premises.
I also miss my dance group. Every Tuesday, I get nervous. I don’t even want to think about what it’ll be like when dancing is allowed again and I’m no longer part of it. Unfortunately, I had to leave the group because I couldn’t stand the stalking attacks from one of the members anymore. The man couldn’t accept being rejected and called me or sent me messages up to 60 times a day. That really took a toll on my health, and it’s completely unacceptable.

I really enjoy crocheting all sorts of things, but I just don’t have the motivation to sew them all together afterward. So, I’ve ended up with a whole bunch of unfinished projects sitting around, waiting for better times.
Luckily, I’m slowly running out of filet yarn; otherwise, I’d soon have more curtains or window hangings than I have windows.
To really get my mind working, I’ve started designing puzzles again. I used to do that a lot on a shipping forum, which unfortunately was shut down.
Well, now I’m going to see what’s on TV.
I’m glad things are going so well here, that you’re all doing well, and that you’re writing so diligently.

Well, it’s quietly snowing here again. Not big flakes, mind you, but as the saying goes, “Every little bit counts.” I’m ignoring it for now, but I’ll probably have to shovel snow again sometime this morning—there are already a few centimeters on the ground.

I’m also still familiar with drawing ink and nibs. I started school in 1963. I can also clearly remember inkwells and fountain pens. It was always a bit of a mess, with ink spilling everywhere.
I had a fountain pen that I could write very well with. Unfortunately, my silly sister messed around with it. After that, it was useless. I couldn’t get the hang of its “replacement” at all. Eventually, it turned out that it wasn’t my fault at all. It was a nib for left-handers, and that isn’t suitable for right-handers.

My teacher thought I had “awful handwriting.” That’s why I had to stay after school regularly to practice calligraphy. Back then, I thought German script was so lame, but today I think it’s great. I haven’t tried writing in ages, but I can still read it.
I still write greeting cards and, above all, letters by hand, and I also like to send postcards. A handwritten greeting like that is always nice.

There’s no snow in the Alte Land or the Cuxhaven district either, but there’s an icy wind. It was storming fiercely until noon today. Now the wind is blowing “normally” again.
But since I’m still recovering from my sinus infection anyway, I’m enjoying lounging on the sofa under a cozy blanket and am glad I don’t have to go outside.

Like everything in life, dance is a matter of taste. In these crazy times, though, it’s a little ray of hope for me that there’s a bit of togetherness again. It’s not hard to join in either… nobody can see me here anyway… lol.
I happened to read a report in the newspaper about a dance performance at a big discount store near me. There’s also a video of it, and when I watched it, my eyes popped out of my head. A good friend of mine works there. I was absolutely amazed at how skillfully he moved his 150 kg. It looked really great. A lot of “skinny” people could take a page from his book.
I think it’s great that so many people are getting involved and sharing it on video.

Thanks, everyone. There’s a funny story behind the truck:
a friend asked if I could bake a truck for her son Max’s 3rd birthday. So that’s exactly what I did. They were about to have coffee with the grandparents. The knife was brought out, and then all hell broke loose. Max defended his truck tooth and nail, and the birthday party guests ended up getting only cookies.

The ambulance was for my German Red Cross (DRK) instructor. The man could talk a mile a minute and had a clever answer for everything. As a thank-you for our training course, I baked him the ambulance cake. (He had bought an old ambulance and converted it into a camper van himself.)
After the last break, the cake was sitting on his table. He stood in front of it—with tears in his eyes—and simply said, “Do I have to say anything?”
That made me, so to speak, a “one-of-a-kind” person—someone who had managed to leave Wolfgang speechless.

It’s been snowing all day here and it’s freezing cold. A pretty thick layer has built up. I was just outside clearing the sidewalk. The young people in the building can’t seem to get it done. They’d rather hang out by the open window and make silly comments. Oh well, good manners are just a matter of luck...
Tomorrow morning, it’s back to the snow shovel.

Yesterday there was a storm here, and today it’s freezing cold.
We’re sitting comfortably indoors, playing Kniffel, and drinking a “Tote Tante.”

Thank you so much for your birthday wishes. The two of us had a cozy time together yesterday.
Today my son turns 40, on Saturday my granddaughter turns 2, and her mom turns 44 on the 11th.
There’s quite a lot going on in January, but unfortunately without me.

Even though setting off fireworks is generally prohibited in Altes Land, there were some really big displays in certain places and far too much firecracker noise.
We went out onto the dike at midnight after toasting, but it wasn’t much fun in the light snow and rain. After Pilawa, we watched a music show about the ’70s and didn’t go to bed until four in the morning.

In the Altes Land, it poured buckets of rain yesterday right into the night.
Today it’s just raining.
Let’s wait and see if a few snowflakes find their way here or if it at least freezes so we can enjoy some hoarfrost.

I’m familiar with this custom from my grandma, too, and I still follow it today—even though I’m a grandma myself now (even if I don’t know the little one).

There are a few other things, like “you’re not supposed to put shoes on the table,” “spilling salt brings bad luck,” “a man shouldn’t give his wife shoes as a gift”… and so on…
That’s just what I learned from my grandma.

I wish you all a merry and blessed Christmas surrounded by your loved ones (if possible). Have a wonderful time and enjoy this slightly different holiday—and above all, stay healthy!

I use little baskets (lined with fabric so nothing gets snagged) or those gift bags that keep coming back. With larger bags, you can also store your current project inside.
Everything is conveniently and neatly stowed away, and it helps reduce waste.

Every now and then, new products come out, and I just fall head over heels in love with them and buy them right away. :-)

Otherwise, I look for things I’d like for myself, or see what someone else has asked for, or what I can use as a gift.
Sometimes a friend who doesn’t own a computer (yes, they still exist...) comes over, picks something out, gets the yarn, and I make it for her.

I’ve also downloaded a lot of patterns, and I’m still waiting to find the right project for them.

It’s great when the product photos include a close-up of the pattern. I’ve bought patterns before that ended up disappointing me because they looked better in the full-view photo.
I also enjoy looking at the customer photos that are posted.

The free patterns are great—they let you see if you like the designer’s style. I’ve often discovered a designer through a free pattern and then gone on to buy more items from their shop.

My favorite is and always will be crocheting. Right now, I’ve rediscovered knitting, but then I run into the same problems with my hand—or rather, my fingers—falling asleep while I knit.
I’ve never really gotten into sewing. It’s probably because I never learned how to do it properly. I do have a sewing machine, but when I sew something, I do it by hand. I even sewed my 2 x 4 m curtain by hand.

This little one is about 5–6 cm tall—or rather, small. You can also vary the size by changing the hook size. This one was crocheted with a size 1.5 hook.
I always used to keep little things like this in my “you-always-have-something-in-there” box, which desperately needs to be restocked. :-)
