Dear users, dear authors,
how do you handle the yarn ball holder?

Hi Josefa,
I admit, I don't have one at all, even though there are various versions and beautiful shapes.
Sure, it annoys me when the ball of yarn rolls off the table. As a cheap alternative, I use regular plastic containers. I have a tall round one with a Christmas motif; a Bobbel fits in there too, and that works really well.

Best wishes and have a lovely afternoon

Yeah, I feel the same way as Andrea. In the summer, when I’m outside, I sometimes use a Tupperware container or a tin can. But I don’t need one on the couch.

I don’t need one on the sofa either. In the summer, on the patio, I have a soup tureen—my yarn fits right in there and stays clean.

I use little baskets (lined with fabric so nothing gets snagged) or those gift bags that keep coming back. With larger bags, you can also store your current project inside.
Everything is conveniently and neatly stowed away, and it helps reduce waste.

I don't have a special yarn ball holder either.
I usually use a basket.

I have one, but I don’t use it. Although I do think those little pottery yarn bowls are pretty. I usually knit in bed, so I’d need something soft that can lie beside me on the left.

I don’t have one of those either.
My yarn thieves would just empty it out anyway.

I have three of these project bags... but somehow they always end up filled with UFOs 😂 At least that way I have the right needles with me, along with the pattern and yarn....
Most of the time I knit or crochet without one, even outside in the summer. If I had a bag with me, my cat would rummage through it and try to curl up inside somehow… He’s obviously way too fat for it, but you can always give it a try…
For lace projects, I use a round plastic container with a hole in the lid. I thread the yarn through the hole at the start, and then nothing gets “tangled up” 😉
