What crochet hooks are used for filet crochet? How can you avoid pricking your fingers with them?

Crochet hook size 0.5 to 1.0; it also depends on the yarn's yardage.

I use hooks ranging from size 0.5 to 2.5, depending on the yardage and the desired result.
I haven’t managed to prick my finger yet...wink.

I like to work with 0.5 and especially 0.75, and so far I’ve never pricked my finger, unlike with some thin, pointy knitting needles (a set of double-pointed needles or a CraSyTrio held the wrong way around!)
