Here in Catholic Austria, it’s just a normal workday. But I’d still like to wish everyone who has a public holiday today a lovely day off!
Personally, I don’t really relate much to religious holidays. I was baptized Catholic, but as soon as I came of age and could decide for myself, I left the Church because I just can’t believe. But that’s a whole other topic. Enjoy the day off!

You can always use a dishcloth or a potholder, and you don’t need much yarn for it. A leftover bit of cotton yarn (approx. 60 m) is enough. The pattern is suitable for beginners. It’s a knitting pattern made up of knit and purl stitches. You can also crochet a loop onto it for hanging, but that’s a matter of taste and not absolutely necessary.

A small amount of leftover yarn is enough for a headband like this; you’ll need merino wool with a yardage of about 105 m per 50 g. The headband is knitted in the round and features a simple pattern of knit and purl stitches. It’s also suitable for beginners.

Oops, I posted in the wrong thread earlier. So here is my leftover yarn again.

I almost forgot to take photos of my leftover yarn—I just quickly took some now. Here you go. Does the leftover project actually have to be finished this week, or is it enough to just use up a fair amount of leftover yarn? I’d like to knit a shawl from my leftovers, but I won’t be able to finish it in a week.

I recently used Rowan Fine Art (for knitting) and thought to myself that if I’d cast on the right number of stitches, I would’ve ended up with planned pooling. No guarantees :-)

It’s knitted lengthwise from thick cotton yarn. The pattern is a dropped-stitch pattern, which gives it a light and airy look. Finally, the scarf also features crocheted fringes at the ends, making it a project where both knitters and crocheters can let their creativity run wild.

Aix-en-Provence is a charming city in southern France. It has good food, lots of cherry trees (they’re more interesting in summer), nice cafés, and, a little outside the city, the Vasarely Museum. There you can admire large-format Op Art works, which are very impressive. Inspired by that, I’ve created an infinity scarf for you here that will make you seem like a true art connoisseur on your museum visit.

It’s not easy to knit, I’ll say that right away. It’s made from sock yarn in double-face technique, which does require a bit of practice. What I find fascinating is the interplay of colors, which are exactly reversed on the two opposite sides. The pattern is shown in knitting charts. You’re probably all here because you enjoy crafts, sewing, embroidery, drawing, painting, or being creative in some other way. Is that your only hobby, or do you enjoy doing other things as well?
For me, it’s definitely nature. I love hiking in the mountains, walking in the woods, and watching the squirrels and woodpeckers; I like to relax by the riverbank, or in the summer, I enjoy lying down in a meadow and gazing at the sky. I just find that absolutely beautiful.
What is it that draws you away from your crafts?

For particularly stubborn cases of Christmas carol allergy and Christmas tree phobia, you could also consider a headband. The Christmas grouch can then pull it down over their ears, not without first putting earplugs in their ears so they definitely won't hear anything.

A true Christmas grouch is characterized by the fact that by early November at the latest, he starts to panic, and as soon as the first Christmas songs ring out in the department stores, sheer horror grips him. He would love to emigrate or book a Christmas vacation in time so he can be far away during the "most contemplative time of the year." Unfortunately, that isn’t always possible, because dear relatives...

The scarf is crocheted from sock yarn (you’ll need two 100 g skeins for it). The pattern is a simple mesh pattern with cables in between, which are explained in a photo tutorial. Not difficult at all, and despite the relatively high yarn usage, it also works up fairly quickly.

In any case, crafting definitely shapes my daily life. That said, I try very hard not to let it get out of hand. Since it’s my profession, crafting inevitably shapes my daily life—much like how bread shapes a baker’s daily life. In the mornings, I have set “office hours” when I take care of paperwork and correspondence; in the afternoons, I usually take time off to do something completely different; and in the evenings, I either knit or crochet or write patterns.
I really only want to knit and crochet in the evening so that it remains the relaxing hobby it’s always been. Because that’s what crafting really is for me: relaxing, meditative, two needles to hold on to.
But if you look around our home, it’s actually obvious that crafting plays a major role here.

Yeah, I’ve seen that feature before. Another thing I’ve noticed with the unread threads is that sometimes I want to save some to read later because I don’t have much time right now, but if I wait too long, they suddenly disappear. So they no longer show up as unread. Is it possible that this happens after 24 hours?
