Hello, everyone!
You’re probably all here because you enjoy crafts, sewing, embroidery, drawing, painting, or being creative in some other way. Is that your only hobby, or do you enjoy doing other things as well?
For me, it’s definitely nature. I love hiking in the mountains, walking in the woods, and watching the squirrels and woodpeckers; I like to relax by the riverbank, or in the summer, I enjoy lying down in a meadow and gazing at the sky. I just find that absolutely beautiful.
What is it that draws you away from your crafts?
I also absolutely love scroll saw work (no wonder, since I’m from the Ore Mountains)
and I’m passionate about cooking too.
But all of that falls a bit by the wayside — crocheting is simply the most fun.
I have waaaay too many things I love doing and way too little time for them!
-Sports! Until we started building our house, I used to go to the gym, whether for Zumba, step aerobics, strength training, ... the main thing was to really tire myself out... I also played table tennis actively for a long time.
-Cooking and baking. The more complicated and unusual, the better!
-Reading! Preferably fantasy.
-Writing. I even started a novel just for fun once... but I dropped it when I started here :)
-Getting involved with clubs and organizations
-The usual: going to the movies, eating out,...
Like I said: too many hobbies for too little time... :)
Oh, sourdough… That’s a good one—I’d like to give that a try sometime soon. I could use some good tips on that, Josefa. ;-)
I really enjoy reading, especially crime novels by German-speaking authors, and I don’t mind if they’re a bit more gritty.
I also enjoy photography, though that’s taken a back seat lately because I don’t really like lugging around the heavy equipment anymore.
But my favorite hobby is my dog, Flocke. Nothing beats her, and I’ll stop crocheting anytime for her (just like right now, since she’s decided to take a nap on my lap ;-)).
I have lots of hobbies, a bit of everything,
But above all, when I take a crochet break, I like doing crossword puzzles or spending time with those coloring books for adults. On my tablet, I like playing those hidden-object picture games.
Two days ago I started doing puzzles again, because my husband and I bought ourselves a panoramic puzzle.
It's supposed to be finished soon and go above the couch. But until then, there are still soooo many pieces to sort.
I really enjoy reading, mostly novels of all kinds. Hiking in the mountains is also very popular with us. Baking—whether it’s cakes, bread, or Christmas cookies—is also one of my favorite pastimes. I also take Pilates classes for the back and play recreational volleyball once a week, do volunteer work, enjoy solving crossword puzzles and Sudokus, and get really into jigsaw puzzles. Oh, and then there are the grandkids, whom I get to babysit once a week... No wonder there aren’t enough hours in my day!
Aside from my crafts, I’m currently painting everything I can get my hands on white—
bottles, furniture, rocks, jars, old decorations. After that, crocheting and knitting come back into play to embellish the painted jars.
Then there’s nature again: hiking, taking walks, picking flowers, collecting rocks and snail shells, and my garden.
Not to mention family. I have a little grandson, so we do lots of outings and activities with the children and my grandchild.
Yes, to sum it up, that’s how I love to spend my time. Are those hobbies? Painting, yes, but the rest?
are reading, reading, reading—anything I can get my hands on. Especially books about the Middle Ages. My little Angelina (a dwarf rabbit). She wants to be cuddled every second. And, of course, crocheting—which, unfortunately, I don’t get to do very often anymore.
Ohhh, if anyone needs any tips on that: I’m married to a baker and pastry chef :-))
Other than that, I really love reading; right now I’m pretty busy with the archery club, sprucing up furniture and giving it a makeover, and then there’s the monster garden (a bit of a love-hate relationship).
What I really don’t like at all is cooking. Nope, that could never be my hobby :-))
And as for baking, I’ve got someone for that ♥
Besides crafts, I really enjoy reading, going for walks, picking mushrooms, taking cruises, and baking a lot—bread and cakes. But even on vacation, my hands are “on the move”; I bring my crafts along, and I knit even on longer trips or bus rides.
