If you have larger amounts of leftover yarn available, you can crochet this funny bird of paradise.
Pino Bird of Paradise is a totally crazy leftover-yarn eater. He has devoured so much leftover yarn that he has become round as a ball.

click here to get to the pattern

Once finished, Pino will be approx. 32 cm tall (when using the specified hook size and yarn weight). You will receive a detailed 20-page pattern with lots of photos to follow along.
Also suitable for ambitious beginners

required skills:

The pattern does not include a basic course. You should know how to crochet single crochet, half double crochet, double crochet and treble crochet stitches, as well as chain stitches and slip stitches.

You will also need:
  • approx. 200 g leftover yarn (hook size 3 - 4) in various colors
  • crochet hook size 4.5
  • threading needle, darning needle
  • stuffing
  • 2 safety eyes, size 12 mm

All children love finger puppets because they can use them for wonderful role-playing games. During Advent, stories about Santa Claus with his reindeer Rudolph and Frosty the Snowman naturally take center stage. Wouldn't that be a great idea for filling one or two little doors of the Advent calendar?
You can crochet the finger puppets from small scraps of cotton yarn or fluffy yarn. The pattern is very detailed and includes lots of pictures explaining the individual steps.
You can download it here!

A small amount of leftover yarn is enough for a headband like this; you’ll need merino wool with a yardage of about 105 m per 50 g. The headband is knitted in the round and features a simple pattern of knit and purl stitches. It’s also suitable for beginners.

Here is the pattern.

You can always use a dishcloth or a potholder, and you don’t need much yarn for it. A leftover bit of cotton yarn (approx. 60 m) is enough. The pattern is suitable for beginners. It’s a knitting pattern made up of knit and purl stitches. You can also crochet a loop onto it for hanging, but that’s a matter of taste and not absolutely necessary.

You can find the pattern here.

Wrist warmers / pulse warmers
are always a good idea, not just outdoors.
These are a great way to use up leftovers.

I’ve described two versions for you in one knitting pattern:
knitted in the round with a set of double-pointed needles and knitted flat with a seam, for those of you who don’t like working with double-pointed needles.

The pattern consists of knit and purl stitches and is suitable for beginners.

In total, the pair weighs 70 grams; you can use sock yarn or—as I did—an alpaca super fine held double.

Have fun with it, and Caro from Fadenstrang wishes you warm hands at all times

Using up leftover yarn is great. It’s easy on your wallet and also frees up space in your yarn cupboard. Here I’d like to show you a few of my ideas for leftover yarn:

Lanterns LICHTERZAUBER and Lanterns LICHTERSCHEIN

For these lanterns, all you need besides the leftover yarn is a large yogurt jar, and you’re ready to get started. The lanterns are quick to crochet and are also perfect as gifts and, of course, as decoration. With a tea light (preferably an electric one), the colors used glow beautifully.

Christmas set - snowman, Santa Claus, angel

These Christmas figures can also be crocheted with leftover yarn, and they bring a festive Christmas mood into the living room. They’re also great as gifts.

Very much in the spirit of fall—it’s still warmer,
but staying outside longer is more comfortable with wrist warmers :-)

The lace pattern adds an airy flair—the mohair quality provides the necessary warmth!

A detailed step-by-step description plus an additional
chart in knitting chart form guide you through the knitting process.

The finished wrist warmers are approximately 26 cm long.

And here’s the pattern with more details...
