Since I wasn’t happy with the knitted onesie, I crocheted a new little dress for Rieke.

With your pretty clothes, the little ones look even cuter and somehow more lifelike, Monika.

I wanted to give a cake as a gift tomorrow. I quickly mixed everything together and poured it into four pans.
I put them in the oven, turned it on, and “Boom”—I was standing in the dark. The oven’s toast.

Now I’m trying to bake the cakes in the chicken grill. No idea if it’ll work out.

Wow, Inge, that dirndl turned out great. I can just imagine how thrilled your daughter must have been. You did a great job!

Monika, are you going to have to expand soon, or how’s the space situation over there?...lol

They create an airy pattern that you can actually use for just about anything. I’ve used them to make baby clothes, sweaters, pillowcases, and blankets.

Another cute little rascal—how lovely. Monika, your two make such a beautiful pair. They both look out at the world so brightly and intelligently. Now you really have quite a lively little bunch together.
I hope you have lots of fun with the new baby and all the others.

Marion, Luna’s pink sweater, Rieke’s purple suit, and her yellow overalls were made using old patterns.
I made the other items without them. You should never give away scraps too soon—I realize that again now. I can make a lot for Rieke with just one ball of yarn.

These cluster stitches used to be found on almost every baby hat and dress. I guess they were in style—at least according to the old needlework magazines.

I’ve also made little blankets (for dolls and babies) using this technique.

I’m just as excited as the participants.

I’m currently using yarn from the last package for Rieke.

Thanks, Monika. Up to now, the baby clothes were in a little basket. I’m slowly starting to need a basket… lol.

But it’s so much fun to crochet for the babies. I’m going to try knitting too.

The pants and top are made from swap yarn from the last package.

Rieke got a pair of ruffled bike shorts and shoes to go with her first little dress. A hat will be added soon.

      


The new pants and top are finished. The shoes and possibly a hat are in the works.

   A cake with flowers.

It always depends on what I’m working on. I also use the Frankfurt knot. If I have yarn ends, I try to crochet over them. If that doesn’t work, I usually wait until the project is finished to weave them in, so I can easily unpick it if something doesn’t fit or sit right.

Thanks, Monika. I made that without a pattern and from leftover yarn. It always goes much faster for Rieke, and crocheting is even quicker. Knitting always takes longer. I really admire how fast you work.

Monika, your babies are dressed super chic and clearly feel right at home.
Those little outfits would be perfect for Rieke, too. I’m sure the hat with the pom-poms would look great on her as well.

Today I was at “Wollhimmel.” There was a small yarn cake on the counter that I thought was absolutely fantastic. Such beautiful, vibrant colors.
When I asked about the length and price, they said, “Then you’ll have to buy both—that’s how it works with lighthouse yarn cakes.”
The saleswoman showed me all kinds of yarn, but I didn’t really understand any of it. Too bad the owner wasn’t there.

My question for you:
Do you work with Leuchtturm-Wicklung? If so, do you crochet or knit with it? What do you make with this yarn? Why is it called Leuchtturm-Wicklung?
Maybe one of you can tell me more about it.

All of my baby clothes for Luna and Rieke are crocheted or knitted from leftover yarn.
Sweaters, pants, a suit, hats, a onesie, and a little dress.

I think the jacket is okay as it is, Petra.

But the wool for the hat is too thick for that little head. I’d also go with a “flatter” pattern that doesn’t add too much bulk. Those are the problems we have with our little babies...

The bag came along today to buy potholder yarn. It holds a lot!

Rieke  got her first little dress today.

That’s turned out to be a really stylish outfit. In those great colors, it would be perfect for my babies too.

I like the color, too. I’ve already pictured my husband in that gorgeous color...

Of course, babies aren’t as sensitive, but I am when I’m working with it.
It really is extremely unpleasant to the touch. I’ll probably just keep it as a memento of “what used to be.”

I found some wool in a box. 100% pure sheep’s wool—terribly itchy.



     

My mother-in-law knitted clothes for my husband out of it over 70 (!) years ago.

I’m glad I didn’t have to wear something that scratchy.

Even on the second try, the waffles aren’t turning brown. Now I’m starting to suspect my waffle iron...

It was a bit tricky because I had to combine different sizes from the pattern. Rieke needs the width of the smaller size and the length of the larger size. So you have to do some math or rip it back. (That’s what Grandma used to call it… lol)
Her little hat didn’t fit at all in the specified sizes. So it was “crocheted to fit her head.”

I think the fuzzy creature is great, Inge. I used to have something like that, too.
But the dachshund and the cat turned out great, too.
