Luna's little sister is named Rieke

Let’s get started, Veronika—get the yarn out.

Monika, you always design such great things. My babies are already tapping their little feet in anticipation.

Rieke’s new outfit is finished.

Thanks, Ruth, for the info.

Your pattern is great, Ines. I’d love to have a sweater like that.
Do you already have a pattern for the first dog? I have to have it—it looks just like “my” Frieda.

I hope you all have a wonderful rest of May Day.

Luna's little sister is named Rieke

Thanks, Marion.

Monika, that’s true. Everything gets done much faster for Rieke than when I’m making things for Luna, even though sizes 56/62/68 aren’t really that big.
With smaller babies, the fit usually works out better, too. With Luna, I have to “juggle” a bit.

Did you hit the turbo again, Monika?
That little set looks great. Is it for the 35-size kids? I really like it, but I’m not sure if I can pull it off.

A very nice jacket in a fresh spring color, Marlene. Does it have buttons, or does it stay open?

Ruth, your reading pillow looks great—such beautiful colors. What do you use to stuff it so it doesn’t get squished?

Making Slippers by Hand: Any Tips?

Can I also use this liquid latex for crocheted or knitted slippers, Ina?

I wear them at home because, even though I have carpet throughout the entire apartment, my feet still get too cold to walk barefoot.

Bakery, Part 4.

There was never any flour or oil here. So I was glad that the baker was offering flour.
I used it to bake waffles. They rose nicely, but for some reason they didn’t turn out very brown.
Have you ever had that happen to you?

Those are really cheerful colors on your seat cushions, Andrea. I’d go with those too.

The colors of the Bobbel yarn are great. The finished piece is sure to look amazing. I’d knit a blanket for my babies out of it.

Luna's little sister is named Rieke

Petra, I felt the same way, and now I’m a mom of two…

The little sweater is a variation on the jacket. It looked a bit odd with the pants because it was a little short. So I just crocheted the border onto it, and now it looks much nicer…Since it was so tight in the back to fasten, I added a triangle there. That makes it easier to put on and take off.

Yeah, with such little dolls, it’s tricky. I’m already seeing that with Rieke. I’d bought yarn for Luna and then decided to make something for both of them. It’s too bulky for Rieke, too.

Have a lovely weekend and a happy start to May

I also wish you all a wonderful weekend. Maybe you’ll be dancing into May—if so, have fun!
It was freezing today. I was shivering nicely when I had to go to my appointment first thing in the morning... grumble

A dear friend hinted at a “joyful surprise” for me—just as a heads-up.
Now, of course, I’m curious to see what’s in store for me.

Take care, everyone, and stay safe.
Warm regards
Marlies

Luna's little sister is named Rieke

Dear Ina,

the thing with my two girls just worked out that way because I’d fallen head over heels for both of them.

But I also prefer to crochet and knit girls’ things. I used to do that for my little sisters, and later for my daughter and sisters. My youngest sister is four months younger than my daughter.

We were a family of 6 girls and 3 boys at home. So I guess I grew up with a bit of a “girl-heavy” influence… lol. And my dad was always happier about every girl, too.

But Rieke and Luna are going to get a little brother, a Niklas—just not right away. They’ll have to wait a bit longer. Maybe it’ll even be a Niklas and a Leonie—who knows…

Best regards,
Marlies

Little Finn

I already enjoyed crocheting girls’ clothes when my little sisters were born. Later, my daughter and my sisters wore the same outfits. My youngest sister is four months younger than my daughter.
Now I have two baby girls—it just worked out that way. But I’d also love to have a Niklas. Just not right away.

A New Addition to the Family—Rosalie Is Here

I just love seeing your little treasures and their pretty outfits.
That’s what I thought at first, too, Christina, and now I already have two babies.

You’re right, Monika and Andrea—that song fits us perfectly. And it’s not just when it comes to our babies and teddy bears that we should always hold on to a little bit of our inner child.

Luna's little sister is named Rieke

I went out for breakfast with my friend today, and afterward we drove over to my place. I’d just mentioned that I have two new roommates.
When she walked in: “Oh my gosh, there are two babies lying there.” I laughed so hard.
Later, I showed her the reborn babies online. She’s already on the fence…

Let’s see just how big our “daycare” here ends up getting.

Congratulations, Marion—your Finn is such a sweet little guy. He’d make a great playmate for my Rieke, and he looks at the world with such a clever expression.

I hope you have lots of fun with your two little boys.

I'm going out for breakfast with a friend today. I hope I'll get around to finishing the pants afterwards.

Neckline: Different Types of Necklines

I used to wear a lot of turtlenecks, but I don’t really like them that much anymore. The V-neck suits me best—it creates a lovely elongating effect.
In the summer, I try to switch between different necklines so I don’t end up with a “tanned V” to go with a crew neck again... smile.
I also like cowl necklines.

A stylist once told me that if you have a larger bust, you should also wear larger necklines. Then your overall look appears slimmer.

Thanks, Inge. Well, you’ve really been busy with all those teddy bears. It’s great that most of them have found good homes.

Maybe we should start a new thread here where we can all show off our babies and bears. I’m sure we’ll end up with quite a collection.

Photos of the clothes will follow tomorrow. The lighting isn’t good for taking pictures right now.

Love, Marlies

Luna's little sister is named Rieke

Yeah, Andrea, I knew Rieke was small, but in person she’s tiny. Right now, the two of them are sharing a crib. It just barely fits them, but of course Rieke will get her own one too.
A pair of siblings like that for you—that would be something, wouldn’t it?

Sure, I’ll show you the new clothes, Gabi.
The pants and jacket are already done. Just the sweater left. It might look familiar to you...

Luna's little sister is named Rieke

Hello doll mommies,

today Luna's little sister arrived. A tiny 35 cm “tall” and so very sweet.
She babbles away when you press her tummy.

    This is my Rieke.

  the two sisters

   one sweeter than the other

I just can’t get enough of looking at these two cuties.

Luna is all set for clothes at the moment, but Rieke urgently needs something new. So it’s time to grab the yarn and needles.

Best wishes
Marlies

Are there any craft projects you really want to try?

Maybe it’s also that inner slacker that always says, “You still have time.”

Then other projects keep getting in the way—whether for myself or for others. Like my “babies” right now (the second one is due tomorrow).

Or maybe I just lack the motivation when I’m not feeling so well.

A New Addition to the Family—Rosalie Is Here

Congratulations, Monika. You’ve gotten such an adorable new addition. Your Rosalie is such a sweet little thing, and she has such a cute little face. I think the name suits her.

I’d actually picked “Leonie,” but when she arrived, she turned out to be “Luna” after all. Even doll babies have their own personalities.

I’m already excited to see what wonderful things you’ll whip up for Rosalie. At the rate you’re going, it’ll surely come together quickly.

I hope you have lots of fun with Rosalie.
Best wishes, Marlies

New Yarn Swap Package No. 3/2022

Nah, I also buy yarn if I like it and don’t have a suitable project at the moment. Or sometimes you get a few bags or boxes full as a gift. Things pile up quickly that way. And I’m the one who can’t say no when someone has leftover yarn...

New Yarn Swap Package No. 3/2022

Dear Ina,
it’s great that you’re willing to take on the work again and get the next swap package on its way.
I won’t be participating this time, because I have to work through a few things first. I’m currently using some of the items I wanted to swap for my “babies.”
In any case, I’ll be cheering you on and sharing in the joy.

Luna is here!

Luna’s new sweater is finished. My circular knitting needle gave out over the weekend. I had to go buy a replacement today. This is 6-ply yarn. It wasn’t nice to knit with—it kept splitting apart.

The teddy bear hat is new, too.

I’m looking for “Bombi”

Hi Julia,
no, unfortunately that’s not it. The “Bombi” I’m looking for is (if I remember correctly) the little brother in a brother-and-sister pair. They also had a dog.
The book’s title is probably more like the sister’s name, but I just can’t think of it.
Best regards, Marlies

I’m looking for “Bombi”

Hi everyone, maybe you can help me out.

I’m looking for a children’s book series that I read when I was a kid. That must have been about 55 years ago.

I remember a nickname—I think it was for the little brother—and it was Bombi.”

That name popped back into my head recently, and I can’t get it out of my head.
Has anyone else read these books, or do you know them from your children or grandchildren?

I’d be so happy if anyone knows what they are.
Best regards,
Marlies

Have a lovely weekend: what are you up to?

Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend.

Inge, get well soon—get plenty of rest and just take it easy.

Ina, a greenhouse like that takes a lot of work, but you also get so much joy from your own harvest. There’s nowhere else where tomatoes taste better than those from your own garden.

Veronika, I’m still a bit wary of the Ice Saints. After that, I’d like to get back to working in the garden more. It’s just a small corner, but you can still plant a few things there.

I’m going to catch up on some things that have been left undone over the past few weeks and, of course, keep working on new things for Luna.

Luna is here!

Thanks, Monika. I’ve since added a little bear hat to the collection.

Veronika, while I was looking for yarn, I found my old teddy bear, which is over 50 years old.
Back then, I had a Pimboli teddy. There were even poems and stories about him, a photo story, and all sorts of other things in the old newspaper forum. It even included an adoption and all the trimmings.

Congratulations, Mel. What’s your little one’s name?

Thanks, Monika—with reborn babies, it’s hard to choose. You just want to have them all.
I found my Luna on eBay. I was actually just having a look…
You’re right—she won’t be on her own for long. I’ve already picked out a Leonie. But she’ll only be 28 or 32 cm long.
That’s quite a difference from Luna’s 55 cm.

I’m also eyeing a Niklas—as a twin for Leonie. As you can see, I’ve caught the bug too… haha.
