For me, it’s both: I’d like to try something new—I’d love to learn how to felt—and build on what I already know—I’d love to sew more, especially clothes for myself; I really don’t like “off-the-rack” clothes.
Hmmm, good question. Maybe I have too many ideas floating around? It’s not like I—or at least I—end up doing nothing at all. I think I just want to be able to do too many things at once. But little by little, I manage to work through everything eventually.
The only thing I’ve never dared to try is felting, even though I think the finished pieces are so beautiful. But maybe that’s just as well—otherwise, I’d probably have even more little animals scattered around here....
A loom like that takes up a lot of space, so it wouldn’t fit in my small 3½-room apartment, but I read something in our daily newspaper about a woman in the nearby district who regularly offers classes. It’s called “Tuchwerk” in Stadtlauringen—you should Google it; it’s amazing what this woman does.
I have so many things in mind that I’d love to do:
-I want to learn to knit (as I’ve been announcing here in the forum since around 2016, haha)
-Finally sew a dress
-Sew a great pair of pants for myself
-Crochet an XXL amigurumi for my friend’s baby
-Crochet a great firefighter for Leo (he is the biggest firefighter fan of all time)
-Make him a firefighter outfit (crochet, sew, whatever)
What’s stopping me? They’re not exactly all that “complicated” projects. It simply comes down to time.
I’d need 4 extra hours every day that nobody knows about, and then 2 extra days between Sunday and Monday that nobody knows about either :D
That’s the thing about wishes. They keep us creative and young at heart. And believe it or not, bit by bit, we do end up turning our plans and aspirations into reality. And when we’re all very old and look back on our lives, we’ll be amazed at just how much we’ve managed to accomplish from our wish list. So don’t stress about it right now. Everything has its time and will come to you when it’s meant to be and the time is right.
If we were to carry out all our plans one after another, there’d be nothing left. So the anticipation of all the wonderful things we can still do is a lovely thing in itself. If you strive for too much, you’ll only end up dissatisfied. So enjoy what you’re doing today and look forward to everything you can still do tomorrow and the day after.
