A New Addition to the Family—Rosalie Is Here

As you already know, my heart belongs to dolls and teddy bears. Just a few days ago, I wrote here that I was done. And I was really determined to stick to that. But what can I say… I just couldn’t resist when I saw this sweet little doll in my swap group. She looked at me… and I was completely smitten.

She arrived today and is currently settling into my “baby nursery.”
Rosalie is a full 57 cm tall from head to heel. She’s incredibly beautiful and intricately crafted, as she was designed by the artist Carmen Gonzalez—the date can be found on the back of her head: 9/1997. Rosalie has a soft body—that’s a must for my dolls. And her eyelashes, for example, are very soft, just like a baby’s. You can even see the roof of her mouth.

That’s how Rosalie arrived at my place this morning. I know that lots of doll moms stop by here and will be happy for me.

For now, I’ve dressed her in something from my stash. And I think that little pink dress looks great on her. The name Rosalie just came to me right away.

Now I’m going to dress her up. I especially love that she’s a different size than my previous dolls. She’s right in between Tommi (50 cm) and Paula (60 cm). I’m already excited to see what I’ll come up with for her. I wish I had 10 pairs of hands right now.

Congratulations, Monika. You’ve gotten such an adorable new addition. Your Rosalie is such a sweet little thing, and she has such a cute little face. I think the name suits her.

I’d actually picked “Leonie,” but when she arrived, she turned out to be “Luna” after all. Even doll babies have their own personalities.

I’m already excited to see what wonderful things you’ll whip up for Rosalie. At the rate you’re going, it’ll surely come together quickly.

I hope you have lots of fun with Rosalie.
Best wishes, Marlies

Thanks, Marlies. :))

Yes, that’s true—even baby dolls have their own personalities. She just wants to be called Rosalie. Nothing else felt right. And she immediately felt “at home” with me.

By the way, she used to sit on the couch at her previous owner’s house, too, and was dressed in different outfits every now and then.

Hi Monika, your resolution didn’t last long.

But I have to say, your Rosalie is really pretty—and this time she even has beautiful hair.
She really appeals to me, and I’m sure she’ll soon have a few sweaters, trousers .... to change into.

I hope you have lots of fun with her.

So far, I haven’t caved in—my little Mäxchen is still an only child. But when I see those pretty baby dolls, it’s hard to resist.

Oh Monika, how nice that you don’t have to go through a pregnancy every time you get a new baby ;-)))

Thank you all! :))

Yes, Ruth, you’re right. I really don’t feel like doing that anymore.

Marion, eventually the time will come when Mäxchen gets a little sibling. And then you’ll be happy about it, too.

Sonja, I’d need a lot more hands and time right now, so I guess I’ll just have to be patient. But little by little, there will be quite a few new things coming.

A pair of siblings like that would be really nice, Marion.

Petra, you’re right. With her previous owner (I inherited her), she was actually a boy. And I sensed that at first, too. Still, she wants to be a girl with me and wear dresses. Since girls can wear anything, she’ll also get an outfit every now and then that boys can wear. In that case, she’d be a Manuel.

Ina, Rosalie actually felt right at home with me right away. She has other doll children here and is in good company. She likes that. By the way, the previous owner’s niece was very happy that I treat her similarly to her aunt, who left this sweetie behind. I invited her to this thread.

Wow, Monika, you’ve got a real little sweetheart at home, right there among all the other dolls. The name Rosalie suits her perfectly.
She looks so enchanting in her new outfit. Of course she’s a girl.

I would’ve loved your Rosalie, too. My little one is an only child as well. I’ve been toying with the idea of getting a little baby doll, but oh well. I’ll have to put that thought aside for now.

I’m curious, Monika, to see what kinds of outfits you’ll conjure up for this little sweetheart. The possibilities and ideas are endless.
I could also imagine a collection of carnival costumes for our babies.

Have lots of fun with your doll babies, everyone.

It’s kind of fun, after all, to always be a doll mom at heart and never grow up.

There’s a highly contagious disease running rampant here: baby doll fever! There doesn’t seem to be a vaccine for it yet, so I’m trying to stay as far away as possible to avoid catching it! The little ones are truly adorable, and the urge to knit doll dresses is huge, but NO, I have to stay strong—there’s no more room on my couch… So I’ll just enjoy looking at your little treasures and their pretty outfits!

Yes, Andrea, I see it just the way you do. It’s okay for the “doll mom” in us to still be alive. There’s such a beautiful song by Peter Maffay from the musical *Tabaluga*, where he sings: “I never wanted to grow up... ...somewhere deep inside, I’ve remained a child...” That really spoke to me.

Why do you want to wait any longer to give your little one a sibling? She’ll definitely be happy to have a new addition to the family. Then she won’t feel so alone when you’re at work. ;-)

Yes, Christina, you’ve figured it out. I stand by it, and it’s the most wonderful “epidemic” there could be, because it spreads joy. And that ultimately contributes to all of our well-being. :)

In any case, my “kindergarten” is now complete (for now). I have so many different sizes to knit for now. I already have a few ideas in mind… And once again, joy is in the air. :) And we should embrace that much more.

Exactly, Monika—I like that song, too. It totally applies to us.

I don’t have any more room on my couch either.
In my apartment in Norway, I had more space.
We’ll see. Postponed isn’t the same as canceled 😉

I just love seeing your little treasures and their pretty outfits.
That’s what I thought at first, too, Christina, and now I already have two babies.

You’re right, Monika and Andrea—that song fits us perfectly. And it’s not just when it comes to our babies and teddy bears that we should always hold on to a little bit of our inner child.

Oh, Andrea, 35 cm fits just about anywhere—trust me. If need be, on your little one’s lap. ;-)

Yes, Marlies, I agree with you there, too. Letting the child within us come alive is something many of us have to learn all over again. It’s wonderful that there are more and more of us here who find joy in it.
