Thanks, Josefa! I’d also like to wish everyone reading this a wonderful weekend. Since it looks like it’s going to rain, I’m going to use the time to catch up on a lot of things that have been piling up.
Thanks, Josefa. I’d also like to wish everyone a wonderful weekend. I’m going to take it very easy and give my spine the rest it needs. It is what it is—I have to live with it and make the best of it, because unfortunately, there’s nothing I can do to change it now.
Thank you, dear Josefa, for asking. I wish you a wonderful weekend, too.
We’re going to do a little gardening. Today we bought one rhododendron and one hydrangea at the garden center. They need acidic soil and will be planted in the garden tomorrow.
Then I still have to take down the Easter decorations from the trees; otherwise, the Easter eggs will get lost among the cherry blossoms.
Otherwise, our new greenhouse is almost finished. There’s still a little work to do—especially inside—since we need to add some good soil from the compost pile. Setting it up was very complicated; one pane even broke in two. But it’ll be ready just in time for planting season, and then we’ll have organic cucumbers, lettuce, and herbs again for us and the family.
And of course, I’ll be sewing, too. I’ve already cut out the pieces for my second T-shirt (using the same pattern as the first one). All the mail carrier has to do tomorrow is bring me the right sewing thread. Because if the color doesn’t match or the quality of the thread isn’t right, sewing just isn’t any fun.
On Sunday, we have a flea market and a classic car and motorcycle meet-up. My husband wants to go there and reminisce. If the weather is nice, I’ll go along.
I wish all readers of this thread a wonderful weekend—and to you, dear Inge, as little pain as possible. Stay optimistic. Maybe you can distract yourself with a little sewing project or at least think happy thoughts about it.
I’d also like to wish everyone a wonderful weekend, and a speedy recovery to Inge.
We had contractors here to give us estimates; they should arrive in the mail tomorrow, and then I’ll submit them to my husband’s long-term care insurance. The landlord is allowing some structural changes so he can get around the house more easily again.
Other than that, I’ll be doing a lot of knitting—I’m working on a big blanket (that cat-themed baby blanket, only bigger, for adults).
Since the weather here is supposed to get worse, I gave the balcony railing a fresh coat of paint yesterday; I’ll have to touch up two small spots tomorrow where the paint didn’t quite cover everything. And then I’m eagerly waiting for the summer flowers so I can plant the pots and window boxes.
Inge, get well soon—get plenty of rest and just take it easy.
Ina, a greenhouse like that takes a lot of work, but you also get so much joy from your own harvest. There’s nowhere else where tomatoes taste better than those from your own garden.
Veronika, I’m still a bit wary of the Ice Saints. After that, I’d like to get back to working in the garden more. It’s just a small corner, but you can still plant a few things there.
I’m going to catch up on some things that have been left undone over the past few weeks and, of course, keep working on new things for Luna.
For us, it’s the last weekend of the school holidays here in North Rhine-Westphalia, so my son and I are heading to the archery range in a bit, and after that we’ll be relaxing in the garden.
We’ve been doing yard work the entire break… from fixing the fence to “tending” to the flower beds, bushes, and trees, right up to the arborists who “removed” the storm damage.
Now we have three fewer birch trees (well, the trunks are still standing a bit so that woodpeckers and the like still have something to do), and the unobstructed view of the horse paddock is a bit unsettling :-)))
