Liebe Wolltausch-Begeisterte,

heute kam endlich das riesige Wollpaket bei mir an. Leider war es an den Seitenkanten eingerissen. Soweit ich sehen kann, ist aber der Inhalt komplett.

Was für eine Freude! Es war wie Weihnachten und Geburtstag zusammen. Ich hab erstmal das ganze Paket ausgepackt und mir alles angeschaut, hab überlegt, was ich damit machen könnte. Und dabei ist dann folgendes bei mir geblieben (das kleine blaue Knäuel vorne hab ich wieder rein getan, weil mir die Wolle zu dünn ist).



Ja, es sind fast 1000 Gramm. Zum Glück hab ich genügend Vorrat und konnte sogar etwas mehr rein tun. Ganz klasse finde ich diesmal, dass der Inhalt nur ca. 4,5 kg wiegt. So bleibt ein Puffer, und niemand muss mehr als 5 kg bezahlen. Super hilfreich. Ich wusste bisher gar nicht, dass wir eine digitale Kofferwaage haben. Zum Glück ist meinem Mann das eingefallen. Damit lässt sich so ein Paket dann entsprechend vorbereiten, damit es bei der Post keine Überraschung gibt.

Aus der Filzwolle werde ich zum Teil Kobel oder Schaukel für Eichhörnchen stricken. Aber auch noch was anderes, nämlich kleine gefilzte Körbchen für unser Wohnmobil. Mein Mann kam auf die Idee, hat er mal in einem anderen Womo im Internet gesehen. Aus der kleinen lila Wollknäuel werde ich entweder Mützen für die beiden Mädels stricken oder für Linja einen Pullover. Es ist Baby Merino und daher schön weich. Garn für die Puppenkleidung ist ebenfalls dabei, die kleinen bunten Knäuel rechts. Ich freu mich schon, die Wolle zu vernadeln.

Interessant finde ich ja, dass das Paket kreuz und quer durch Deutschland reist. Von Nordost nach West, dann nach Südost (bei uns) und dann wieder nach Nordost ... jedenfalls hoch und runter... spannend.

I don’t really care about the yarn’s weight—I just have a few ideas tucked away in the back of my mind. A skein just has to catch my eye and call out, “I want to go home with you,” and just like that, I’ll grab it. :-)))

Ähm..... Veronika..... Ich habe ständig das Gefühl das Knäuel mich anlachen und bei mir bleiben wollen 😂😂😂
aber es geht/ging mir auch oft so, Garn gesehen und zack war es bei mir eingezogen 😇 wobei ich mir bei einigen Knäueln nicht mehr sicher bin warum. 

Jedenfalls freu ich mich schon gaaaaanz doll auf das Paket. 

Da habe ich Glück ... oder Pech .... hier gibt es keine Gelegenheiten, dass Wolle mich anlacht, das Letzte Wollgeschäft in der Nähe hat schon vor Jahren dicht gemacht, ich muss im Internet bestellen, wenn mich etwas anlachen soll.
Daher ist das Paket toll, mal wieder eine echte Live-Show!

Monika, sooo schöne Wolle hast du dir ausgesucht, bei der Filzwolle habe ich gleich an deine Kobel gedacht.
Die lilafarbene Wolle ist auch sehr schön. 
Ich bin nun gespannt was ich mir aussuchen darf .
Leider sind auch hier meine 2Wollgeschäfte nicht mehr und ich bestelle eher im Internet, deshalb freue ich mich umso mehr vll.wieder neue wollsorten kennen zu lernen.

Ja, Ines, die Kofferwaage ist wirklich super, da hst du genau das Gewicht. Ich hab es dieses Mal so gemacht, dass ich das, was ich behalten habe, komplett gewogen habe. Und dann hab ich meine Wolle zum Weitergeben gewogen und rein getan. Es ist sogar etwas mehr geworden. Dafür ist so ein Gewichtspuffer sehr nützlich. Das Wollpaket ist für mich sowas wie ein Woll-Laden auf Reisen. :-)

Ina, auch dir und euch allen hier wünsche ich ebenfalls ein schönes Wochenende mit viel Zeit für das was ihr liebt. Heute regnet es und da kann ich mal wieder am Computer arbeiten. Bei schönem Wetter bin ich lieber draußen.
Natürlich werde ich meine Projekte vorstellen - eventuell auch hier, sofern ich dann noch weiß, ob die Wolle von diesem Paket ist. Bei 3 Paketen hab ich den Überblick verloren. ;-)

Sabine, welche Wolle ist denn die Timona? Die kleinen lila Knäuel vielleicht? Auf dem Foto kann ich das nicht erkennen. Nun hab ich schon alles in meinen Vorräten verteilt ... und müsste erst suchen.

A live wool package show… what a great idea. I can practically see the wool dancing right in front of me… grin.

Where I live, wool is only available at discount stores. The selection is very limited as a result. Luckily, I found “Wollhimmel” in the neighboring town. That’s where I get my cotton at a very reasonable price. The nearest specialty stores are in Stade.

I’m curious to see what else you’ll find. Keep having fun.

I don’t want to keep you in suspense any longer, so here’s the yarn I swapped for.
Yes, Monika, the mail really is quite fast here—I ordered some yarn online on Saturday, and it arrived today. At our local post office, packages are picked up by 4:00 p.m., and then they’re supposed to reach the recipient within 24 hours—though, well, that certainly doesn’t always work everywhere.
I don’t have any firm plans yet, but I do have some ideas, and before I made up my mind, I just had to check online to see where I could reorder if things get tight, haha…
I’ll show you my “creations” when the time comes.
Now it’s Veronika’s turn to look forward to it, because the package should arrive at your place by Wednesday at the latest.

Schöne Sachen hast du dir da ausgesucht, ich bin ja schon so gespannt, was ich dort entdecken werde!

Oh, how lovely, Ines—what wonderful treasures you’ve picked out for yourself. There are even two skeins from me in there—the purple and orange ones in the front right. I simply had too many of those, since I mainly reserve them for doll clothes or double-faced projects.

I’ve already been thinking about whether we should start a separate thread for our projects made with the swap yarn. Because, to be honest, later on I won’t remember which package each skein came from. That way, we’d have a sort of showcase for our projects made from the “Freu” packages.

What do you think?

Josefa could then pin this thread to the top—just like they do in the Handicraft Group and the Bakery. Then no one would have to search for it for a long time.

Das fände ich eine gute Idee, denn ich werde auch nicht sofort mit der ertauschten Wolle anfangen, ich muss erst noch etwas fertig bekommen.

I think this is helpful, since this is already the third swap package in circulation (and more are likely to be started), and this way the creations that have come out of them are all gathered in one thread. Searching for the individual threads is quite a hassle, since they’re spread out over a longer period of time.

Veronika and Ines thought this was a good idea—Ruth has already posted there, too—so I’ve opened this thread.

The yarn from Tausendschön—I’ve already spotted it online. Once I know exactly what I want to make, I’ll buy some more.
And there are actually so many different types of Alize yarn—you can always find something that goes well with it. I have a good stash of it myself, some of which ended up in the package.

Unfortunately, DHL gets here very late—I was already in the kitchen preparing dinner—but I did manage to take a quick peek. So many great things! Tomorrow I’ll be diving right in; I’ve already told my husband that I’ll be completely busy tomorrow! 5 kg is quite a lot of yarn!

Well, everyone, I had a wonderful day! I spread all the yarn out on the table and then strolled along it, sipping a cup of tea now and then, then strolling some more—it was lovely!
And after giving it some serious thought, I found just the right items, of course.
The package is securely sealed and will be on its way tomorrow, as soon as I catch a break from the storm—right now, we’re getting completely soaked.

Veronika, feine Wolle ist auch bei dir gelandet, ich erkenne die orangefarbene Alize von mir, ich habe die sehr gern und viele Farben davon.Da bin ich gespannt, was du daraus machst.
Mir ging es auch so, ich habe es richtig zelebriert mit Schauen, Fühlen und überlegen. 
Da hoffe ich,dass ihr gut durch das Unwetter kommt, soll ja dann morgen bei uns ankommen, grrrr....Regen ja,alles andere muss nicht sein.

And again and again, choosing a skein of yarn, touching it, holding it to the delicate skin of your neck, and putting it back. That takes time—and is meant to be savored. No yarn shop is ever that relaxed!

Veronika, what a beautiful selection you’ve put together. I can’t wait to see what you’ll conjure up with it. Yes, I really enjoyed it too when I saw all the contents laid out on the table. Choosing wasn’t that easy—I often set things aside and swapped them out. It’s really quite different from being in a yarn shop.

You’ve already adopted some beautiful yarns. I’m excited to see what you make with them. 
I’m currently working on yarn from the last swap package, a lace-weight yarn knitted double-stranded.... I’ll post a photo in the other thread....

For me, it replaced the yarn shop and who knows what else—I don’t have any yarn shops nearby anymore, and the package was a very welcome alternative.
I’m planning some fall decor in orange—pumpkins are in the air—and I discovered a great pattern here for a beautiful pillow.
I’m going to make a lightweight scarf out of the gradient bobble yarn. Will 150 g be enough? The yarn is pretty thin.
Choosing was really hard—there are still some absolutely fantastic things in the package. And I have a “technical” question right off the bat:
If, for example, there’s 500 g of a certain yarn in the package, do you always use it all, or sometimes just one ball? Same goes for restocking—is it better to have a lot of one type, or lots of individual balls? Or does it not matter?

The sun is shining—and just like that, the package is on its way!

Veronika, you can also take individual skeins out of the package or add them to it. It’s always a lovely selection that goes on its journey. From what I’ve observed, sometimes individual skeins of a particular type of yarn get “adopted.”

the mailman rang my doorbell today—amazing. The yarn package has arrived. That was really fast.

I’ve already had a little browse through it. The choice really isn’t easy.
I’ll post a photo later. Now I have the whole free weekend to test things out and decide.

Well, I finally managed to find something after all. It wasn’t easy to decide.
There are still some great wool treasures in there.

Thank you. This pink is 100% polyacrylic and very thin.

I’d like to crochet a little teddy bear out of this pink.
As for this green and yellow, I’m imagining a striped doll sweater—we’ll see.

I also still have some swap yarn left over from last time.

Andrea, you’ve picked out some beautiful yarn too—the pink one is from me. It’s easy to work with; I have it in other colors as well. It was included in an auction package from e..y somewhere—it’s so wonderfully soft, so I’m really looking forward to seeing the teddy bear. 

Oh Andrea, such beautiful colors. I’m already looking forward to seeing what you’ll conjure up with them. I’m especially curious about the pink teddy bear. And the green and yellow yarn will surely look great in stripes—perfect for summer.

I’ve already knitted and felted two felt baskets for the RV using the swap yarn. The square basket, though, needs to go through the machine one more time.

Exactly, Ina, that’s what I’ll do. :-)

The “MAPINA” knitting yarn is 50 g / yardage 195 m, 100% acrylic
10 x 10 is 30 stitches x 43 rows (according to the Tedi label)

It feels really soft. I’m always sensitive to scratchy wool, but this one is great.
I still have to try out whether it knits up well. I’m usually more of a crocheter.

All right, then I’ll admit that I’m also circling around here out of curiosity.... :-)

Ich bin zwar in der Tauschrunde nicht dabei, verfolge aber aufmerksam eure Auswahl. So maches Garn hätte mich schon gereizt, manches Garn kenne ich schon und habe es  vernadelt. 

Ich lese sehr gerne hier mit. 

Huhu in die Runde, zum Glück bin ich nicht allein mit meiner Neugierde und warte wie ihr auf neue Beiträge, wer wohl was aus dem Paket für sich entdeckt..... es sind ja viele schöne Wollen enthalten.
Ich habe gestern schonmal eine Tauschwolle begonnen zu verstricken, das Ergebnis kommt dann im anderen Thread, dauert jedoch noch ein Weilchen.

Guten Morgen ihr Lieben, ich bin auch neugierig und freu mich auf das, was Gaby uns zeigt.

Die Lambada ist von mir, Steffi. Da müsste auch noch was für dich im Paket sein. Ich konnte damit nichts anfangen. Ich glaube, die hatte 125 m.

it would look very good in these crocheted mosaic squares. The ones Andrea also loves to crochet so much. That would be something small to take along in the RV and on “vacation”....

Da macht sich sowas Kleines schon gut.

RV… more like a camper, so “everything” is there for the electrical system. You can cook, there’s an “emergency toilet,” and everything else we need—no gas hookup or that water tank. We customized it ourselves. Since we have a big dog, we need the right amount of space, and a store-bought one just doesn’t have that.....
I’m really excited to see what nice things are in the package 📦 

Mosaikquadrate hört sich super an. Ja da habe ich Andrea auch immer verfolgt, wenn sie neue Farben gezeigt hatte. Ich häkel ja ganz gern, traue mich an englische Anleitungen aber nicht immer ran. Man weiß immer nicht ob die englische Anleitung zu dem Mosaik auch einfach lesbar ist. 
Na Steffi, ich guck dann mal wie dein Projekt so wird.

I also have the pattern that Andrea crocheted, and it was my first mosaic—I found it pretty easy to follow, just like many English patterns that are very “matter-of-fact,” meaning short and to the point.... Both in written form and as a crochet chart....

Once you get the hang of it, you can work any charted grid pattern.

Bine, it’s no big deal. I only have basic English skills, and I managed just fine with the patterns.
You can also find a list of English crochet abbreviations online.
If you’re having trouble, just ask Steffi or me. We’re happy to help.
Once you start, you won’t want to stop making these mosaics. It’s best to crochet in rounds. So, work each round separately with one color and single crochet stitches. Work everything into the back loop (the pattern is created by working the double crochets into the front loop).

Crocheting in rows makes sense if you want fringe on the sides, such as for a table runner or a small coaster.

I think I’ll go ahead and give it a try after all. A large blanket made using the mosaic technique will definitely look great, and because it’s made from individual pieces, you can work on it casually on the side, just like with granny squares.

Here you go, Sabine. You can start by crocheting small mosaics and then crocheting or sewing them together to make a doily. That way, you’ll see if it’s your thing or not.

It’s really a lot of fun. Once you get started, you won’t want to stop.
You can also make a little bag out of the many mosaic squares—just sew them together, add a handle, and you’re done.

How nice that it’s “lunch break” right now—that way I can browse through everything in peace.
I just took a quick look at the very first photo, the one Ina posted when the package set off on its journey.... It really is still the original box! I’m “treating” you to a new one, though—the current one wouldn’t survive the next “leg of the journey” 🙈🤷

Yes, the box had already taken a beating—I’d added plenty of tape to it. Who knows how it’ll get tossed around and shoved! Good thing wool can’t get seasick....

Well, I could have used a really sturdy piece of cardboard at the start—but that would have weighed at least 1 kg. So the thicker cardboard would have meant at least 500 g less wool to choose from. So, I’d rather use a little tape here and there along the way than give up 500 g of wool ;-)

Meine "ausbeute" jetzt werden im Urlaub Handschuhe und "fingerless" gestrickt. 

You’ve picked out some really beautiful yarn, Steffi—you’ll be able to make quite a few pairs of gloves and fingerless gloves with it. I never get anything done on vacation—at least not on vacations that aren’t at home—even though my fingers are itching to get crafting.
Have lots of fun with the new yarn.
I’m currently working on a project with some swap yarn—luckily I was able to reorder some, since the one skein won’t quite be enough.

Hey Steffi, glad you found what you were looking for after all. Have fun working with it. I also held the dark gray yarn (in the middle)—it was sooooo soft, but unfortunately too dark for my projects. I’m really curious to see what your “fingerless” gloves will look like.

Ha, Ines, I feel exactly the same way as you do. Just a few more days, then we’re going on vacation. Since we don’t have a car anymore, we’re traveling by bus and train, so I can’t take much yarn with me in my suitcase. Two or three skeins are okay. What can you do?

Steffi, sehr schöne Wolle hast du gewählt. Damit lässt sich schon was anfangen. Die sieht schon auf dem Foto sehr weich aus. Bin gespannt, was du uns dann irgendwann zeigen wirst.

Es ist wirklich spannend hier und ich freu mich jedes Mal mit. Spannend ist auch, was zum Schluss bei Ina ankommt und ob alles von ihr einen neuen Woll-Lüstigen gefunden hat.

@Steffi, super das du so schöne Wolle gefunden hast und ich nun gaaaanz neugierig bin was du mir schönes übrig gelassen hast : ) 
Handschuhe habe ich letzten Sommer auch gestrickt. Das ist eine gute Idee. Das waren tolle Weihnachtsgeschenke

Ich finde es sehr interessant wie alle mitfiebern was die Tauschwolle angeht. Jeder freut sich mit und hat oft selbst im Hinterkopf was man selbst zaubern daraus würde.
