I can’t show you anything yet—the jacket’s still a work in progress. It’ll probably end up being one for Tommi. For Rosalie, I’ll have to start it in a larger size.

At a customer’s request, I’m working on (almost) invisible increases and decreases in double-face knitting.

I’ve figured out a way to do it.
Now I just need to put it into a clear, understandable pattern.

So... The knitting is done.
Now I just need to clean up my handwritten scribbles.

Marlene, that sounds interesting. Is that a sample piece where you explained that?

I’m still working on the jacket for Tommi. Just one more sleeve and the hood, and it’ll be done—to match the pants.

Now I’m working on my little pouch, which I’ve definitely restarted three times already because I didn’t like my previous ideas.
So I’ll post a photo only when I’m sure.

Monika, your raglan jacket looks great. I’ll have to check out how the raglan construction works. I really like it on jackets. I can practice on one of my many doll outfits. 

Yes, Petra, I like that one best, too. This one fits my 50-cm-tall Tommi best. The 58-cm-tall Rosalie fits in it, too, but it’s a little tight on her. The great thing about raglan is that you can really play around with the size.

It’s finished in this form for now. I’m going to knit a hood onto it. I’ve just placed the buttons here for now—they still need to be sewn on. I can’t decide between red and orange… I think both look good.

Bring on summer 👙🌞🏊. I’ve been crocheting with filet yarn and am happy with the result. Just a few more loose ends to weave in and it’s done.

From now on, I’ll look at doll clothes with a whole new perspective. I’d definitely get frustrated working on such tiny pieces

Yeah, our little ones sure keep us on our toes! But we moms love doing it, don’t we?

I’m just sort of like an aunt. Once they’re dressed, they leave me again and go back to their moms. 😂

Marlies, of course we’d be happy to do that. My husband also prefers the red buttons because they add a splash of color. So we’ll go with the red ones. :)

Juna—or rather, her mom—has made a request. She’d like a shoulder bag just like Linja’s, with her name on it, for kindergarten and outings. Linja isn’t giving hers up, of course, so I’ll have to make another one. It’s quite a lot of work… phew. She won’t get it for her birthday, but later this summer, once it’s finished. I’ve already picked out colors for this labor-intensive project. The yarn for the diapers is already set aside too, because Juna loves changing diapers. Well, that’s going to be fun with the two of them. They’re playing so sweetly with their babies right now and carrying them in front of their tummies. There are still teddy bears inside for the moment, but soon they’ll both have the baby dolls. So that they both have almost the same baby, I’ll probably give Merlin to Linja too.

Petra, you’ve dressed your doll so stylishly. How tall is she?

Monika, your little jacket looks great again. I’m also leaning toward the red buttons. Your husband is right—it’s a “splash of color.” You always knit so quickly; I’m a little envious of you.
Keep your fingers crossed for me that I’ll soon be able to crochet some new clothes for my babies too.

Andrea, the doll is 27 cm tall. I had a bit of a hard time choosing the yarn.

  Monika, I liked the red buttons better right away, too. Buttons are a decorative element, after all, and I think they’re allowed to stand out. But they still don’t distract from the pattern.

Marlene, I’m excited to see your bag. Trying out new patterns is always fun.

I’m working on a new crochet pattern, and a dishcloth is perfect for it. 

@Petra, it really is tiny. I like crocheting with this thin crochet thread using a 1.75 or 1.25 mm hook. I imagine it would be fiddly with thicker yarn.

@Marlene, your bag already looks promising pattern-wise. I’m curious to see it.

Things have quieted down a bit here in this thread over the last few days (probably because everyone has migrated over to the baby doll threads—haha!).

I also have a small doll collection. However, my dolls are a bit more grown-up: they’re the 29-cm-tall dress-up dolls. When I was a kid, I really wanted one of those. But my mom thought they were “inappropriate” and, besides, I was already “too big” for dolls. Well, now I have some, and I dress them up and play with them with my grandchildren.

My granddaughter said that “Barbie Boy” absolutely had to get a “mermaid costume” now so he could go underwater with his girlfriends.
So, here it is:
 

Ruth, I admire you for these tiny little things you design. That looks very pretty again. Yes, of course the little guy has to go underwater too. Those fashion dolls never appealed to me. I need something to cuddle—it’s always been that way. It’s nice that we’re now making up for what we didn’t have as kids. I feel the same way.

Marlene, I’m curious to see what your bag looks like when it’s finished.

I’ll show you the finished diaper for Juna’s little doll baby later. Of course, she’ll need at least two of those. Another jacket is already in the works, too. After all, I now have five tiny babies, and they all need their own.

Today, two diapers were finished for Juna’s little doll baby. Patterns will follow soon. Now all that’s left is to sew on the Velcro fasteners.

I’ve put my crochet work aside and am watching the hedgehog eat

Oh wow, Petra, that one looks pretty big and healthy. We haven’t seen ours yet this year, but he’s been eating quite well. Tonight will be the first night he doesn’t get any food. Now he can find enough on his own in nature.

I’m experimenting a bit—nothing specific—and taking new photos of my projects.

Yesterday I took advantage of the beautiful weather.
I did a little product photoshoot at the Palmengarten.

Plus, in addition to all the plants, this little fellow and his friends were croaking away at us:

I’m glad you like it as much as I do. Mausi is just so cute and doesn’t even measure a full 9.0 cm. At least, that’s how big the little basket is for me.

Oh my gosh, that little mouse is so cute, Andrea! I just love little toys like that, but... crocheting? I wouldn’t feel like doing that with such thin yarn. You did a great job with it. It would be an ideal toy for toddlers to take with them.

Marlies, babies need a diaper, of course. I’m already working on the pattern. For the second diaper, I ordered snaps (1.9 cm in diameter) because they’re easier to sew on. They should be easy to fasten, too. They’re coming on Monday, and then I’ll be done with the diapers.

Today I got some yarn from my swap group (no—I never have enough... smile). I really liked the color (mint); it’s for the babies—a cotton-acrylic blend—and feels great. 200 m/50 g—I’ll be able to make quite a few things with that. Photo coming up shortly.

So—my next project is set.
This time, it’s something completely different from what I usually do:
An aspiring lactation consultant has asked me to create a pattern for a breast model.

I’m really curious to see it, Marlene…

Hi, I’ve mostly been a silent reader these past few days, and once again there are such beautiful things to admire.....

Yes, I think Ruth’s mermaid costume for men is really lovely to look at.

But Monika’s diaper pants and that adorable little mouse by Andrea are also really very pretty. Andrea, I’m always amazed at how you manage to make these tiny little projects; the thinnest hook I use for crocheting is a 2.0, unless I happen to do some filet crochet, but that’s pretty rare for me.

Christina, you’ve been very busy too. I especially like the little birdie and the heart. A few of those little birds on a decorative branch would surely look lovely.

Marlene, what’s a bust model? I can’t quite picture it right now, but maybe it’s something
 completely “normal” and I just can’t think of it at the moment. Well, I’ll let myself be surprised.

 Petra, the hedgehog seems to like it at your place; in any case, he looks good, a really sturdy little fellow.
I live right next to the forest, and last week we were able to watch a family of squirrels. Unfortunately, I couldn’t capture them with my phone; with the foliage getting denser and denser, it just didn’t work. By the time I got my camera, the little squirrels were gone, and now we don’t see them at all anymore. I wonder if they’ve already left the drey? We could still spot it in the tree..... this is the first time this year that one has been built so close to our property.

So now I’d like to show you my sweater/shirt.



My new knitting project is a jacket that I’m knitting in RVO style and that I worked out myself for the first time. So far, everything is going well; as soon as it’s finished, I’ll post a photo.

You’ve all created such beautiful projects with your needles...
Soooo many lovely things have been made 😍

I’ve done a little knitting myself—lots of color or lots of pattern. Knitting is always a good idea—well, right now there are actually days when I’m just knitting my single stitch. Somehow, I just can’t seem to get back on my feet. I had to wait a month for a doctor’s appointment; there are 10 days left now, and then (hopefully) I’ll get a little help. 

A summer scarf made of cotton....


My “disaster shawl”.... This pattern was a real headache—so many “inconsistencies” in the knitting charts... so I ended up doing mental math again. 

I really like both of them. The scarf looks exciting and full of variety

Great knitted items, Stefgi! That looks like a lot of work and concentration.
Now that the weather is nice and the light is good, I’ve been doing more embroidery again. The picture of my granddaughter will be finished soon—if nothing else gets in the way.

The scarf actually knits up pretty quickly—there are only a few stitches on the needle, and with all the different patterns, it flies off the needle.
Right now, I really need lots of patterns and lots of counting; it demands my full attention, and I can finally switch off and actually “have to” sit still for a few minutes 😊
The bookmark is absolutely adorable 😍 
And I really love little things like this for the kitchen, too... But I’m not “allowed” to leave them lying around... “It’s unhygienic,” my husband says. Even the cotton dishcloths have to be put away. But I can really just throw them in the washing machine, unlike “his” sponge.... 🤷

Wow, Steffi—considering you weren’t feeling so great, you did an amazing job with those pretty complicated pieces. I always really like a mix of patterns like that, too. It looks great. It’s nice to see you active here again.

Ruth, your dish sponge looks really cute. I can’t even touch that sponge yarn. You’re also making great progress with the embroidery. That takes a lot of patience and time. I’m lacking both right now... :)

I just finished a new hat for my Tommi, so another outfit set is complete. I’ll post a photo tomorrow. My husband did have another idea for the hat, though, which I still want to try out.

I’d also knitted a set of a jacket, hat, and pants for Juna’s birthday. But I forgot to take photos, and now it’s already on its way in the package. I’m already curious to see what she’ll say about it on Tuesday.

Now it’s my little Lara’s turn. She really needs her own clothes—so far, she’s only had borrowed ones from Juna’s baby. By the way, I also took a group photo of my preschool class. I’ll post that in the next few days.

I had some success at the book flea market yesterday. It’s amazing—there are boxes full of cookbooks and city guides. People are very reluctant to part with their craft books.

Once again, I’m marveling at your creations.

I’ve just started a major project that’s been on my mind for months.
The project consists of several small or smaller parts: an ebook featuring crocheted doilies and coasters made from cone yarn.

I’m curious to see how my stamina holds up with this one.

I “love” old needlework books.... It’s really rare to find them at a flea market. Today there was a flea market in the neighboring village, and that’s where I discovered some old booklets with cross-stitch patterns from 1937.... They were still written in old German script and said “for home and school” on the cover. Now I’m a little annoyed that I didn’t buy them. …
Three old ones with “crochet doilies” sit on my bookshelf, and every now and then I take a look at them….
@Monika…. Precisely because I’m not feeling well, I’m working on things that are certainly complicated. When I have to count, I can’t dwell on my worries and I find a little peace…. 

Petra, thank you so much for the congratulations! We had a wonderful day in the garden.
You really did snag a little treasure at the flea market. I definitely would have taken that home too. These old books contain precious tips that you won’t find in new books. I was given an old book like that from the 1950s, and I treasure it like a gem.

Yes Steffi, (more complicated) crafting can be a very good distraction from silly thoughts. It’s true therapy.

I’ve now designed a new hat with a new pattern; it matches my Tommi’s pants and jacket. Tomorrow I’ll add another idea my husband had. Yes, he’s already helping design too. ;-)



And then I finished knitting and felting two little felted baskets. The square one does have to go through the machine again, though.



The next project will be for my Lara; she urgently needs something to wear. She’s getting a little dress, a sweater, and leggings. I’ve almost finished the matching hat. I’ll knit a similar set for little Manuel. The two of them will get a matching look—her as a girl, him as a boy, both in different colors. I’m already curious myself to see how it turns out.

Monika, this just goes to show once again—you’re our “Turbo Monika”—you have so many new things to show. How do you even do it? That new set you’re working on already looks very promising.

Steffi, I really like your projects too—the scarf is something different, and with a pattern mix like that, I can imagine it might be a bit distracting.

I’m really taken with Ruth’s bookmark—it really gives off that vacation vibe. When I saw the dish sponge, it immediately reminded me that I still have a few skeins of that sponge yarn lying around.

Andrea, I can totally believe the bunny was a hit—they both look so cute.

I’m still working on my jacket; I had to rip it out earlier this week because I wasn’t happy with the sleeve, but now I’m almost there and will finish it in the next few days—then I’ll show it to you, of course.

I’ve started a big project that’s been close to my heart for a very long time: writing a book.
I’ve already started on the first set of patterns for it.

Oh wow, Marlene, you want to write a pattern book? That’s a lot of work, and whether it’ll ultimately be worth it is the question. I’m speaking from personal experience here and can say that individual patterns are more worthwhile here at CP. You reach a lot of buyers here, whereas with a book, you need to do a lot of self-promotion. I don’t want to take the wind out of your sails—not at all. Because holding your own book in your hands is something special. But you shouldn’t expect big profits from it. If you’re writing it mainly for yourself, just for the fun of it, it’s a very enjoyable thing. And that’s what matters in the end. :)
So what is it you’re showing us there? I’m guessing a doily, right?

Ines, well, I’m not that fast, if you ask me. But the little dress got finished today—though I’m still adding a little finishing touch. I just haven’t decided yet whether it’ll be a butterfly, a heart, or a flower. In any case, my Lara looks just adorable in it. Now I just need to finish the sweater to go with it, and then the set will be complete. This is what little Lara looks like now in her outfit.

Very few authors manage that.
I see it as a labor of love.

That’s the right and best attitude, Marlene. Then your book is guaranteed to turn out absolutely beautiful. That’s always the case with projects close to your heart. I wish you lots of inspiration and creative joy as you work on it.

Marlene, I think the idea of a book is great. I can just imagine how lovely it would be to have your own creations and ideas in a bound book. I’m really curious to see how your labor of love turns out.

I’ve been knitting baby booties the last few days. A colleague and I are waiting for the baby to arrive, and I figured even summer babies want warm little feet. But summer—here, the temperatures have dropped into the single digits. Not much of a summer today

You’ve all been busy again. I haven’t been completely idle either. Mosaic technique is so much fun. 
And I’m smitten with this candy heart pillow. It reminds me of that candy. Both are English patterns.

And Andrea, your heart with the mosaics is also very pretty.

I’ve now knitted another hat for Laura and a sweater to match her leggings. I’m totally in love with her.

Oh, how cute. There’s just something special about homemade knits. I love these little knitted sweaters for dolls. You’ve always used such lovely “baby colors.” Your Laura is adorable.

Those baby booties are cute, Petra. Unfortunately, I don’t have anyone that little to knit or crochet for anymore. (They can’t protest yet;-))

Your mosaics look great, Andrea. They remind me of North African tiles. I could definitely see that as a blanket. But it’s surely a lot of work.

And with your Laura, everything fits together perfectly once again, Monika! I’m sure the other babies will get their turn soon, too. It’s a good thing you have so many: you’ll never run out of work!

Oh, and I already have something to show you: The 7 Dwarfs based on a pattern by rimajas. I did crochet arms onto them, though. There’s also a Snow White to go with them—one of my fashion dolls, of course. I’m currently writing the pattern for the princess dress. Once that’s done: To be continued...

oh, so much new stuff already!

Petra, those little shoes are pretty again.

Andrea, I really like the mosaics too; unfortunately, I still haven’t gotten around to trying that technique. However, I might also like the heart as a pillow, since I’m thinking about making something like that again anyway—maybe I’ll go with the heart shape.

Monika, your set turned out great too—I’m really taken with the fresh colors here… and the doll seems quite comfortable in it.

Oh, seven dwarfs—now I’m really curious about their Snow White, who I’m sure will be just as enchanting as the dwarfs.

I can show you my jacket today—I made it based on a pattern by Ina, which I had the chance to test-knit quite some time ago. Since the yarn was quite a bit thinner, I recalculated the stitches, and it worked out well. As a summer jacket, it has only 3/4-length sleeves.



Now I’m back to crocheting figures, and I’ve also got a knitting project going on the side using yarn from a swap. Working on multiple projects at once isn’t really my thing anymore, but knitting in the garden is easier than crocheting figures :)

I took my shawl out of the box again. I’m halfway through now—one ball of yarn is gone. Now the rows are getting shorter again.

@everyone: You can also use this heart-shaped pillow as a real pillow, but use thicker yarn so it gets bigger, and then stuff it more firmly, or use systematic stitch increases, then yarn of your choice will work too.
I’ve only stuffed it loosely for now and am using it as decoration. Dimensions approx. 20 x 20 cm (crocheted with Järbo yarn and size 2.5 hook)

But I’m going to crochet another red heart with the inscription “Best Mom.” I’ll give that to my mom for her birthday. I still have some white trim left, too.

I’m currently working on a little dress for Juna’s little baby doll and also for Linja’s 40-cm doll—something similar to the one for Lara. It’s super easy to put on and take off. On the side, I’m crocheting a bag for Juna.

Do you guys have any ideas for a back-to-school gift? Linja is starting school this year.

Moni , I just read that. As a crocheter, I’d crochet a little doll with a school cone as a good-luck charm.
Or I’d make a sort of abacus bead necklace with 1–10 beads, and attach a metal charm to it. I’ve already seen something like that on my beading forum (MyBB).
Acrylic beads work too, of course.
You could also crochet a little teddy bear with a safety vest and a school backpack—or did you have something specific in mind?

I know you don’t really like crocheting such tiny things, Monika, but I think a little guardian angel as a bag charm—one that accompanies and protects the little one on her way to school—is really cute.
Or maybe you could crochet a little school bag and a school cone for the baby doll?

ruthk, that’s right. You’re right. Exactly, for the little doll. Maybe even a “matching outfit” for the clothes.

What else comes to mind? I’m sure there are those little fabric pouches with designs on them that you can color in yourself with fabric markers. Would that work? Or a small porcelain cup that she can decorate herself with porcelain markers (with Mom’s help, of course)—that way she’ll have her very own breakfast cup.

@Monika, I would crochet a large animal for the school cone. 
My niece had wished for a unicorn school cone, and when a unicorn peeked out, it was of course a huge hit

Wow, everyone, thank you so much for the great ideas! I’ll think about what might work best and ask the parents, too. Fabric bags to color—that would be great, too. A counting chain—I’d already thought of that.
Ruth, I think the little guardian angel as a good-luck charm is absolutely lovely. I’m sure I can pull that off. Both girls would get one. I’m going to start collecting ideas and jotting them down. You’ll get to see here what I end up making. Definitely something with her name on it… because she still loves her preschool bag with her name on it.

I’ve got another shawl on my needles right now.... lots of counting—at least that keeps my mind off things....

Or you can also find ideas and patterns for purchase on Etsy.
Since I know how it works, I often crochet from pictures.
I’ve already thought about drawing patterns on graph paper and then crocheting them using the mosaic technique.

My pattern-mix dragon tail is growing, and the third pattern for the book project is also in the works.

 

Wow, Marlene, your dragon’s tail looks amazing. I really like this mix of patterns, and it’s fun to knit, too.

Right now, I’m finishing up the bag for Juna—I’m already on the lid. After that, all that’s left is the strap. Because of the pattern, I’m basically crocheting the bag twice over—it feels like it’s never-ending.

Then I’ll have the second little dress for little Merle (35 cm) finished. Tomorrow I’ll take some more photos of how it’s coming along.
