You absolutely have to take this belt bag with you on vacation. That way, you always have your hands free while still carrying the most important things with you.

The bag is easy to make for experienced crocheters. However, you should already have some practice.

Until March of this year, I didn’t even know I had the talent to design my own knitted and crocheted pieces. It just happened naturally when I couldn’t find what I had in mind. That’s when I got the idea to try it myself, and it worked right away.

For me, my creations come from a need. Sometimes I’ll sketch out a rough idea beforehand. But while I’m knitting or crocheting, changes suddenly creep in. It surprises even me. And it’s so much fun to see what ultimately comes of it.

How about an owl as a door guardian with a traffic-light function? It can be used in many ways, for example on the doors of the bathroom, restroom, office, or even a child’s room.

The guardian owl can be made quickly and easily with this crochet pattern, even by beginners, and it’s also a little good-mood booster. :-) Of course, you can also give it as a gift. It’s always a very successful surprise.



The owl is 23 cm long including hanger and feet and approx. 9 cm wide if you use a yarn weight of 170 m/50 g. The dimensions of the individual parts are described in detail in the pattern. 

Materials you’ll need:
Red and green thinner cotton yarn – scraps are enough too (here I used a yardage of 170 m/50 g), leftover cotton yarn in white and beige (gray or other colors also work as alternatives), buttons without visible holes in dark brown, dark blue, or black, a little stuffing or leftover yarn for filling, crochet hook size 3–4; here I used 3.5

Skills you’ll need:

• crochet single crochet, slip stitches, chain stitches, half double and double crochet stitches
• crochet in rounds (explained, including the magic ring, in a short workshop with photos)
• decrease and increase stitches (briefly explained)
• embroider cross-stitch

I'm still knitting the first shoulder shawl of my life. It's a real labor of love, but it already looks really good. 

I'm currently designing another crochet project; it has something remotely to do with a bag, a special one ... I'll tell you more when it's finished.

And then I'm crocheting another door guardian right now. This time it won't be an owl ... I'm not quite sure yet what it will turn into, and I'm letting myself be surprised.

For labor-intensive tasks, it's definitely great to have some smaller projects going as well. ;-)
