Hello to all the pros and hobbyists out there! I need your help with a lace pattern. The pattern says:
Row 2: Work in single crochet, working the first single crochet into the third chain from the hook.
Row 3: 3 ch (= 1 double crochet), *skip 1 sc, 3 sts = 1 dc, 1 ch and 1 dc into 1 sc, skip 1 sc* repeat
Row 4: 3 ch (= 1 dc), *3 sts = 1 dc, 1 ch and 1 dc around the ch from the previous row* repeat
Row 5: 3 ch (= 1 dc), *3 sts = 1 dc, 1 ch and 1 dc around the ch from the previous row*

What does “3 sts = 1 dc” mean???
How do I proceed—crochet 1 ch and 1 dc into 1 sc???
The lace pattern looks very unusual in the picture, not like the usual ones. It would be so nice if someone could help me!
Best regards,
Natalija

I’m guessing that “3 sts” refers to the following stitches: 1 double crochet, 1 chain stitch, and 1 double crochet—which together make three stitches.

Hello Natalija,

I understand it like this:
3rd row = after you skip one stitch, you crochet 1 double crochet into each of the next 3 stitches.

4th row = there you start right after the turning chains with 1 double crochet in each stitch + in the 5th row too.

Hopefully I was able to help you.

Regards, Petra

@Natalija ,
welcome to our forum and to the platform.
If this is a pattern from Crazypatterns, I can contact the author for you and ask for help. Please send me a product link for that.

I wish you lots of success.

Thank you so much for the quick replies—I’m going to try out all the variations right away! :-)
The pattern is from the book *Puppenkleider selbst gehäkelt* by Birgitt Hettich-Krämer; unfortunately, it’s not from crazypatterns.net

It’s the pattern for the lace pattern on the white blouse.

3 sts = 1 dc, 1 ch, 1 dc. Those are the three stitches. So at the beginning, you skip one single crochet, then work (1 dc, 1 ch, 1 dc), all in the same stitch, then skip another one, and so on. The 3 stitches look like a V. In the next row, you’ll always crochet these 3 stitches into the V. You’ll probably keep going like this for a while until the piece reaches the desired size.
Does that help?

Oh yes, thank you so much!
I misread the pattern; I thought the whole time that the next stitch started after the comma... :-)
But 3 sts = 1 dc, 1 ch, 1 dc in the same sc—that makes sense!
I would never have figured that out!
;-D

Please don’t photograph images from books and upload them here.
thanks.
@Natalija
If necessary, you could also ask the publisher or the author.

Dear friends,
I’m always so impressed by the amazing help I get here from the authors.
That’s another reason why I love being here at CP.

I’d like to take this opportunity to briefly mention that it’s only here at CP that I’ve found what I couldn’t find in all the free patterns on other sites.

I think the reason is that the wonderful patterns here are written by individuals who’ve developed them themselves and even documented them with photos. From a customer’s perspective, that’s really worth paying for.

And then, after a while, I had the idea to become an author here myself—which I really enjoy. I never would have thought before that I’d ever do something like this. It’s so much fun!

Just wanted to mention that… because it seemed fitting here.

Thank you all for being here—including the mods, of course! :-)

Best regards from Monika
