It's Fadenstrang's birthday // Scarf / multicolored hexagon shawl knitting pattern

Belated happy birthday, dear Caro!
I’m a little late, I know—sorry about that.

But it’s never too late to send good wishes. So for this new year of your life, I wish you lots of success, plenty of new ideas, tons of yarn kits, and an incredible amount of joy in life!

Take care!

Warm regards
Monika

Make women's tops by hand

This tunic is the ideal transitional piece. You can wear any shirt underneath it. It keeps you pleasantly warm.

The cotton tunic is easy to knit, even for beginners. However, basic knitting knowledge is required. There are almost no seams.

The pattern describes size 38-42. It can also be very easily expanded to other sizes.

You need the following materials (for the size described here):
  • 200 g cotton, yardage 170 m/50 g in red
  • 1 x 50 g cotton in yellow – same yarn quality
  • One 60 cm or 80 cm circular knitting needle each, sizes 3 and 3.5
  • Optional: a longer crochet hook no. 3 or 4 for picking up the stitches (if you are practiced at picking up stitches, it can also be done another way)
  • A crochet hook size 3 - 4
  • A yarn sewing needle for weaving in ends
  • A few stitch markers (I make small loops out of yarn for this)
You can of course choose a different color combination to suit your taste.

Here’s the knitting pattern for the tunic.

Yarn // Buying Yarn // Yarn Stash

Well, I’ll join right in. I have a plastic container like that too. And it’s just sitting there unused. I could easily store my summer cotton in it.
Great idea! Thanks for that, Wollness_Desings! :-)

And this is what my joy package looks like, which arrived this morning ... that really saves the day. And it all fits into my almost empty large yarn basket. (Yes, I’ve been diligently working through my stash...)

I can only say it again and again: I’m totally in love with ... yarn! And it’s nice that I’m not alone here in feeling that way. :-)

Wishing you a lovely woolly day

Yarn // Buying Yarn // Yarn Stash

It’s so nice that we’re all cut from the same cloth here. ;-) It’s always a joy to read your posts on my favorite topic: yarn!

I’m looking forward to tomorrow like it’s Christmas. That’s when a big package of yarn is arriving. I have three or four new projects in mind, and I ordered the yarn for them. Yeah, and I’ve been good and whittled down my stash, too. And as is always the case, once any of the storage containers or drawers start to empty out, they have to be restocked. Yeah, that’s just how it is with yarn addiction... ;-)

That’s going to be a blast, yippee!

Now I wish everyone a good night!

How are you? How’s it going? Do you have a new project?

Good evening, everyone! :-)
Luckily, most of my UFOs are finished and have already made their way into the shop.
The last UFO is my cardigan, which should be finished by mid-September and will also be uploaded to the shop.
Since I’m going on a 10-day trip, I’ve started something smaller and am taking it with me. It’s going to be a pair of toddler leggings made from a wool blend with alpaca. It’s really cozy and feels just great. As soon as they’re done, they’ll go up in the shop. The parents of my 1.5-year-old granddaughter are already looking forward to them, because wool leggings like these are very comfortable during the cooler months.
Oh, and I’m also working on a new idea… I just have to see if it turns out the way I imagine it. If so, it’ll be something really simple and beautiful for beginners.

Of course, I already have lots of ideas in my head that are just waiting to be brought to life. I could really use 10 hands right now for that. ;-)

Have fun knitting, crocheting, or whatever else you’re creating!

Warm regards
Monika

Keeping track of everything...... how.....???????

Hi Heike,

I have several small dressers—and also those foldable storage boxes—where I keep my yarn. I also store my skeins upside down, so I can see the color right away. I always leave the label on or tuck it into the center of the skein after use. Unfortunately, I didn’t do that in the past, so I don’t always know what the leftover yarn is.

Each drawer or box always contains skeins of a specific type. That way, I can also see right away which color needs restocking (and of course, I always order plenty more). ;-)

Two drawers are reserved for UFOs.

My current projects are in a basket, along with all the supplies I need for them. That way, I can easily take the basket with me wherever I want to continue knitting or crocheting (e.g., the garden).

With all the yarn I use, that wouldn’t be possible without this system. Otherwise, I’d just be searching for things all the time.

Have a nice evening!
Monika

How do you stay motivated—or what do you do when you get stuck?

Hello Patricia,

When it comes to UFOs that aren’t fun, I set them aside for a while until I feel like working on them again. The problem with that (at least for me) is that after some time, I have to get back into the swing of things. That’s why I always write down every step—including the number of stitches, etc.—and take photos along the way. That way, I can pick up where I left off later using my own pattern. It works great, even after a long break from the UFO.

I, too, always have one big project on the needles and several small ones. It’s just more motivating to finish a small project every now and then.

If nothing’s working at all—and that seems to be the case for you—then I’d give up on that project and start something completely new. And if it’s the yarn’s fault, just start over with a different kind of yarn.

By the way, it does happen sometimes that I notice a mistake later on. If it’s minor and only visible to me, I leave it as is. But I’ve actually had to rip out quite a bit of work on several—even larger—projects just because the mistake bothered me.

In short: Motivation often comes from a new project that I really like and that I’m already looking forward to seeing finished.

Wishing you
lots of success and joy, Monika

Difficulty level: intermediate — so recommended only for experienced knitters. After all, you do have to count stitches.

Everything is explained in detail in the knitting pattern, mostly with photos. The pattern charts are also included.

This cute family of gnomes, for example, makes a fun decoration for the breakfast table, since the gnomes can double as both egg cups and egg cozies. The house simply serves as a bread basket. The whole family will have fun with this.

But of course, they’re also very versatile. Small items like buttons, beads, pebbles, or other treasures can be stored inside. The door of the gnome house is open at the top and can be used for needles or other items. My yarn, buttons, safety pins, and more are hidden here in a very decorative way.

Both the gnomes and the house can be easily recreated even by beginners with basic skills. The pattern explains everything—largely with photos.

Table Decor, Door Decor, Doorstops

This little guardian bear is not only an original door decoration, but also has a very useful function. It shows exactly whether the way into the room is clear or not. Children, for example, are really excited when they’re allowed to be alone in their room for once—without locking the door. But this little guardian bear is also super helpful for the study, bathroom, or restroom.

The pattern is also suitable for beginners with basic knowledge. You only need a little yarn for it, so leftover yarn is enough, too.

Here is the crochet pattern for the “Guardian Bear” door hanger.

If you prefer owls, there is also a guardian owl in my shop. It also has two sides with a traffic-light function and looks funny, too.

Transitional Clothing

This pinafore skirt grows with your child throughout the toddler years and is a true quick-change artist. Very practical for moms, knitting grandmas, and also for little princesses, because this favorite piece can grow along with them for a very long time.

It was knitted from cotton (yardage 120 m/50 g) and can be worn in summer (with a T-shirt) as well as in fall and winter (with a sweater).

So it’s just the right thing for the transitional season.

The special feature: The skirt gradually transforms into a skirt without straps. The skirt has no seams; it is knitted from the bottom up in one piece. Even beginners with basic knowledge can easily make this pinafore skirt using the pattern. Every step is described and supplemented with lots of detailed photos.
