This colorful pullover with a button placket is just right for fall. It’s an eye-catcher and looks good on both girls and boys. The pullover described here fits sizes 86 - 92/98, so approximately ages 1.5 to 3 years.

It is knitted from lightweight cotton. What makes it special is that it has almost no seams. Only a tiny section under the arm and at the top of the shoulder needs to be sewn or crocheted together. It is knitted from the bottom up. The sleeves are knitted on directly.

Difficulty level: intermediate

The step-by-step pattern includes many detailed photos, making it easy for experienced knitters to knit.

This pinafore skirt grows with your child throughout the toddler years and is a true quick-change artist. Very practical for moms, knitting grandmas, and also for little princesses, because this favorite piece can grow along with them for a very long time.

It was knitted from cotton (yardage 120 m/50 g) and can be worn in summer (with a T-shirt) as well as in fall and winter (with a sweater).

So it’s just the right thing for the transitional season.

The special feature: The skirt gradually transforms into a skirt without straps. The skirt has no seams; it is knitted from the bottom up in one piece. Even beginners with basic knowledge can easily make this pinafore skirt using the pattern. Every step is described and supplemented with lots of detailed photos.

Click here for the knitting pattern for the grow-with-me pinafore skirt.

Comfortable and practical—whether worn “over” or “under”:

Knitting pattern for a striped short-sleeve cotton cardigan

(To purchase/download, please click the image)

Stripes are totally on trend. With a top under this comfortable-to-wear short-sleeve cotton cardigan, you’ll be well dressed for the transitional season, and when it gets a bit cooler, you can also wear a thin turtleneck underneath.

The PDF pattern is illustrated across 23 pages.

These knitting skills are needed:
casting on stitches, knit and purl stitches, knitting stitches together, yarn over, emphasized decreases, and increases from the strand between stitches (explained with pictures).

Difficulty level: medium

We need
for the sizes S to L in total approx. 450 g Catania (Schachenmayr) or Limone (Schoeller+Stahl), 100% mercerized cotton, label information: 50 g – 125 m yardage, needle size 2.5 – 3.5, gauge: 26 sts x 36 rows = 10 x 10 cm with the following color distribution:

  • Blue 100 g
  • White 100 g
  • Dark green 150 g
  • Light green 100 g
Depending on the size, more or less yarn will be left over from each skein.

I used here: knitting needle size 3.5, 3 stitch holders and 1 cable for putting stitches on hold, stitch markers and row counter (not strictly required), pins for blocking, tape measure, scissors, yarn needle for weaving in ends.

In the morning and evening, it can be very pleasant to put on a matching hat with your shoulder warmer.
This duo works up quickly. The accent determines the color combo.

You get 2 patterns for the price of 1!

This pattern is designed for sizes M/L.
The head circumference is about 52-54 cm.
However, the cut and the gauge make it possible to make any size.

Knitting pattern Tunic ALLROUND - a must-have tunic in a linen look with cotton effect yarn (or your preferred yarn with a comparable yardage):

(To purchase/download, please click the image)

Worn as size S = oversized; size M/L (stretchy), easy to adapt to other sizes or oversized fits.

Comfortable – light – this knitted top can be worn in all seasons, even in winter with a thin turtleneck underneath. But this tunic is actually intended for summer.

Basic knitting skills are enough.

The download includes

  • Illustrated PDF knitting pattern**
  • PDF “Knitting Basics – Basic Knitting Techniques” – illustrated explanations
Material:
Used here: 450 g ribbon cotton effect yarn, 50 g – 90 m for needle size 5.0 to 6.0; gauge according to the label: 16 stitches x 23 rows = 10 cm x 10 cm. The 450 g are enough up to size XL. For larger sizes, add 50 g more per
size. Also certainly lovely in gradient yarns (Bobbel).
Used here: circular knitting needles 6.0 with 80 cm cable length; two additional circular knitting needles for holding stitches (or stitch holders), measuring tape, stitch markers, pins, yarn needle for weaving in ends, scissors

Knitted Poncho/Stole, feather-light - very easy
for transitional weather in thin yarn - for cold winter weather in thick yarn:

(To purchase/download, please click the image)

One size - pattern and cut are absolutely suitable for beginners.

This is a short pattern for a feather-light, very easy-to-knit poncho in one size, made from just 100 g KidSilk (Austermann). For beginners, I recommend (lace) yarns without mohair, because mohair is almost impossible to unravel.

The PDF pattern includes the preview image.

For cold winter weather: the poncho can also be knitted nicely as a warm outdoor poncho with thick wool, 100 g - 100 m, using US 11 (8.0 mm) needles. The required amount of yarn is then approx. 700 g. The stitch count always depends on your individual gauge. To convert your individual gauge, I recommend this: READ IT OFF instead of calculating - PDF table for knitting and crochet
as well as my blog post: Converting gauge - here's how..

Required knitting skills:
casting on, edge stitch (your favorite edge stitch), knit and purl stitches, bind off.

If it’s still/already so warm at times that you’d like to wear something backless, but then a little cloud comes along, or a breeze, or a woman might want something to wear over an evening dress:

Knitting pattern: Year-Round Bolero Size S/M

This simple bolero can be worn in warm seasons with a top underneath, as well as, for example, over a fine turtleneck in the colder seasons as a shoulder warmer. And in white for the bride, or knitted in navy blue or black, it goes beautifully with a festive dress.

This bolero is made from 200 g of especially soft 4-ply sock yarn (100 g - 420 m yardage) STEP by Austermann (with aloe vera and jojoba oil), using size 4.0 knitting needles, in seed stitch and stockinette stitch. Of course, a different (lace) yarn of the same weight can also be used. However, it really should be the same weight, as I specifically worked out the shaping for this.

The PDF pattern is illustrated with 14 photos (but it is not a basic knitting course; basic knitting skills are required).

Folk festivals and of course Oktoberfest fall during the “transitional season,” although it is referred to as the “5th season”; for that, the little ones need, for example:

Baby traditional vest size 86/92 with intarsia cable - knitting pattern

(To purchase/download, please click the image)

But not only for Wiesn time...

For this trendy sleeveless baby/children’s vest without buttons, we need:

150 g merino wool gray + 50 g merino wool red, here Schachenmayr Merino Extrafine 120, 50 g – 120 m yardage, gauge according to the ball band: 22 sts x 30 rows = 10 x 10 cm, knitting needles 3.0–4.0; here: knitting needles 4.0, cable needle, crochet hook 3.5 for the bow, stitch holder or similar for holding stitches, yarn needle for weaving in ends, stitch marker is helpful.

The PDF pattern is illustrated.

The red cable on the back is made using the intarsia technique (illustrated explanation is included) and takes a little time and skill - so I would not recommend it for beginner knitters.

The cable also looks nice in solid gray, and the whole piece is then knitted up quite quickly. For beginner knitters, I therefore recommend knitting this vest completely without the cable and/or in one color.

Adjusting it to other sizes is quite possible with the help of my free baby measurement chart  (click me) and gauge calculation aid (click me).

Ideal when it’s not quite that cold yet:

Knitted Shirt/Sweater 'ALGARVE'

(For purchase/download, please click the image)

Two in one pattern:Sleeveless long shirt, ideal for leggings, and with sleeves, a cotton sweater knitted in a simple lace pattern . Because of the pattern, it results in ONE SIZE for women’s sizes 38–44. Smaller sizes can be worn as “oversized.” Weight gain or loss is therefore not a problem.

Material:
300 g (without sleeves) / 550 g (sweater) Austermann Algarve (100% cotton; 50 g – 142 m) for needle size 2.5–3.5; here: size 3.5 knitting needles, tape measure, scissors, yarn needle, row counter helpful but not absolutely required. Gauge according to the ball band: 27 sts x 36 rows = 10 x 10 cm. For colder days, merino or alpaca yarn with a comparable yardage is recommended.

The PDF pattern contains the images from the image gallery (see above); due to the simple cut, no additional images are included.

Basic knitting skills are sufficient, including yarn over, knit 2 stitches together, and left-leaning decrease by knitting 2 stitches together (explained).

You simply need a hat like this:
ALL-SEASON BEANIE hat made from sock yarn - knitting pattern

(To purchase/download, please click the image)

For this feather-light all-season beanie, which is made with knitting needles in various sizes (the brim with size 3.5 needles, the main section with size 6.0 needles, the decreases with 4.5 and 4.0) and with a crochet hook size 3.0 - 4.0 for the decoration, 70 g of 6-ply sock yarn is enough, although 1 ball usually has 150 g. So from the leftover yarn you can easily knit a small loop scarf or even 1 pair of socks up to shoe size 36/37 :-)

By the way: a sock-knitting course for 6-ply sock yarn is available here:
https://www.crazypatterns.net/de/items/22205/strickanleitung-socken-aus-6-faedigem-garn-lehrgang-mit-tabellen-fuer-alle-groessen

With colorful sock yarn, the color gradient forms automatically depending on the yarn.

These knitting skills are needed:
knit stitches, purl stitches, knitting in the round, knit stitches together through the back loop.Crochet skills: chain stitches, slip stitches

Difficulty level: intermediate, easy for experienced knitters

A Touch of Something.. Reversible Loop/Hooded Scarf - One Size - Easy to Knit

..versatile to wear e.g. as a reversible loop / hooded scarf / shoulder warmer.

One size – easy to knit.

The PDF pattern includes images from the photo gallery.

These basic knitting skills are required:
casting on stitches, knit and purl stitches, knit 2 stitches together, increase 1 stitch, knitting in the round, binding off.

We need:
just under 50 g Austermann Kid Silk (75% kid mohair, 25% silk, 25 g/225 m yardage (hand wash) needle size 3–4; used here: circular needle 3.5, stitch marker, yarn needle for weaving in ends, measuring tape, scissors

For knitting beginners, I recommend suitably thin (lace) yarns without mohair.

Cardigan/long knitted jacket MARGIT size 38 to 46 OneSize - Oversize
Knitting pattern

(To purchase/download, please click the image)

This comfortable, cozy oversized knitted piece weighs only approx. 275 g with the yarns used here, so it is feather-light. Both patterns used are absolutely easy. The collar shaping requires a little attention. The length is adjustable.

The model shown is knitted with double strands and US 10 / 6.0 mm needles using 175 g KidSilk by Austermann plus 100 g Merino Lace by Austermann. Alternatively, you can choose yarns with a needle size suitable for the yarn that correspond roughly to a gauge of 17 sts = approx. 10 cm with 6.0 mm knitting needles, e.g. approx. 450 g Dolce Mohair (Mondial) - knitted with a single strand. Additional yarn alternatives - including options without mohair - are listed in the pattern. Stitch markers are highly recommended.

The illustrated PDF pattern with stitch- and row-by-row instructions is based on the gauge stated above. Because of the jacket’s relaxed shape and stretch, one stitch more or less is not very critical. If your gauge differs more significantly, please choose a larger or smaller knitting needle size. The pattern does not include a knitting course, but it does include helpful links.

Cardigan/Knitted Jacket Gita - Sizes 36 to 42 One Size
Knitting pattern

(To purchase/download, please click the image)

A lightweight knitted piece for all seasons – whether worn over or under – simple and with a special collar area. Both patterns used are absolutely easy (only knit and purl stitches). The collar shaping requires a little attention, so difficulty level: medium. Unlike the “Margit” model, the sleeves are knitted with a sleeve cap. The length is variable.

The illustrated pattern with stitch- and row-by-row details is based on a gauge of approx. 14.5 sts = approx. 10 cm with 6.0 mm knitting needles. Because of the jacket’s relaxed shape and stretch, one stitch more or less - similar to the “Margit” model - is not very important. If your gauge differs more significantly, please choose larger or smaller knitting needles. The pattern does not include a knitting course, but it does include relevant link tips.

We need
225 g KidSilk by Austermann, color 40 emerald, 75% kid mohair, 25% silk, details according to the ball band: needles 3–4, 18 sts x 26 rows = 10 cm x 10 cm, hand wash, 25 g – 225 m yardage; alternative yarns: e.g. Kid-Seta (Schulana) or Kid Mohair/KidSilk (Adriafil) – the same amount in each case for the knitted
total back length of approx. 71 cm. This material is knitted with two strands held together. Additional alternative yarns are listed in the pattern. Used here: knitting needle size 6.0 mm.

Fall can come...
With this shrug, you’ll be prepared for any weather!
The wonderful textured pattern - 2 different crochet patterns alternate - invites you to cuddle up.

The cut of the soul warmer requires no decreases or increases at all...
... making it absolutely recommended for beginners, too!

A detailed description guides you through the crochet process.
For clarification, 2 crochet charts can be found in the pattern.
In addition, 3 schematics help you through the crochet process step by step.

This pattern is designed for sizes S/M/L/XL.
However, the pattern describes how the shrug can be very easily adapted to any size.
The included cut and the gauge help with that!

And here’s the pattern and more details...

A wonderfully lightweight - yet still very warm thanks to the camel hair - poncho awaits you here!

This technique is basically kept simple - but the little cable border adds the finishing touch!
In addition, the snowmen worked in beadwork look lovely and also serve the purpose of adding weight, which ensures a neat drape.

My son had asked for the snowmen ;-)

This pattern is designed for sizes 38/40.
However, the included schematic and the gauge make it possible to knit any size!

A detailed description guides you through the entire knitting process.

And here you can find the pattern and more details...
